thank you hey guys Nick here welcome to Odyssey custom vans we're at the back of the
0:13
shop and we're ready to show you our 2020 Ford Transit this is one of our
0:19
newest builds so this is a mid roof and it's actually built for a marine veteran
0:25
his name is Thomas and we've been working on his van for the last couple months it's now finished so we wanted to
0:31
take you through a tour he is a disabled military vet and this is a very special
0:37
build so we have designed it to accommodate his motorized wheelchair as
0:42
well as other accessories in here it's really cool inside so I can't wait to
0:48
show you we're going to start off with the front of the van and then when we get inside we'll tell the story about
0:53
how the interior layout came about because it's a it's pretty interesting let's walk around the front so again
1:00
this is a 2020 Ford Transit the engine is the EcoBoost so that's the
1:05
turbocharged V6 so ton of power it is an all-wheel drive van so starting from the front here we have
1:12
our CA tune front bumper with a worn winch
1:18
got a factor 55 fair lead and then this van is decked out and a
1:24
ton of Baja design lights so we've got two of the Amber lp6s right here
1:30
moving on up we've gone with the Squadron Pros for our ditch lights
1:36
and then we're finishing up up top with a it's not a curved light bar but is a
1:42
straight line bar from Baja Designs integrating the Amber and the clear LEDs
1:48
it's extremely bright and then last but not least on the front we went with the uh this is the UK
1:56
Transit Trail front grille it is a Ford product and this is uh you would call like a
2:03
raptor Style Grill it's really popular it's a really cool look you do have to get from overseas you can't buy it
2:09
direct from the US but check out some links to our other videos where you can see it'd be it's
2:14
installed as well as where to purchase it I'm down at the bottom here we actually
2:21
did this yesterday before we got ready for this tour and these are diodynamic
2:27
fog lights they're from Freedom Van Gogh through their vampires warehouse and you
2:34
can actually buy this kit uh we just did a review video to where you can actually see the install of this
2:40
but this kit it's a direct bolt-in they give you the trim ring and the frame and
2:46
it's it takes 10 minutes to install each side and I mean it looks incredible
2:52
moving on back we have BFG ko2 tires all terrain tires
3:00
everyone loves these tires they're on the black rhino rims
3:09
we have a Dometic awning and we're going to put all this in the description below
3:14
so don't worry about picking up any of the details for the parts that is with a flatline vanco their new
3:22
version roof rack up top
3:27
we have 550 watts of solar and we're going to show you that in just a second towards the end of the video a little
3:34
bit more in depth on how we have that laid out up top we also have two Max Air fans and
3:40
they're the max fan Deluxe so the 7500
3:46
walk around the back here we have an aluminous tire carrier
3:53
and then we have a spare tire on the back up top you'll see that we have more
4:01
Squadron Pros so we got the two ditch lights then we have one two three the Squadron pros and we
4:09
actually have an IR so an infrared light that can be turned on to enhance the
4:14
night vision camera uh nothing on this side so no ladder or
4:19
anything like that to get up on top of the van
4:25
before we get inside what I want to do is uh just talk about the story about how this van came to be as you can see
4:33
with the American flag once Marine always Marine so Thomas is a marine and
4:40
this van is uh built for his paragolfer so he does Shooting Sports and as well
4:47
as golf tournaments and a paragofer it's pretty cool essentially a
4:53
off-road wheelchair and we don't have it today but
4:58
I'll show you how we load it into the van so we needed a way for the wheelchair to
5:06
get in here and Thomas had this installed so this is an aluminum ramp
5:12
it looks kind of complicated and it looks like you would not be able to actually open this up yourself but you
5:17
can so if we come here
5:25
comes down we put the safety pins in
5:38
and so now we have a way to for him to drive his paragofer into the van
5:49
so I'll just show you the back here we're actually going to go through the front and that's what we'll begin the inside tour but back here in the back
5:56
we have uh designed it so that it is just as wide as the ramp so that anything that he
6:03
wants to drive in here he can fit we have integrated L track and we
6:09
actually have adjustable tie down points so that whoever is uh
6:14
you know helping them tie the uh paragrapher down you can use these
6:20
to lock in and this way you can tie down whatever your whatever you're doing so this ties
6:28
down the back of the paragrapher and then up here in the front to make sure it doesn't twist we've got
6:35
one more piece of L track right here
6:43
and this is bolted through the body all the way through the body with three
6:48
grade eight bolts and then back here we have one two three grade eight bolts and
6:54
again through the chassis so it's not just bolted into the floor so extremely strong
7:00
um so in the back storage is premium in any van so these
7:08
nets back here in this wall are just to house anything uh he actually keeps his
7:13
hose uh water hose parts for fill in the van the water filter all on this panel right
7:19
here and then down here below this is where we have the water fill
7:27
then we have the mixer valve so hot and cold we have our rear spray down hose
7:34
and so that's all here in the back
7:40
we come onto this side over here this is part of our power system
7:48
so we have our we have a red Arc manager 30 system and we also have the the red
7:55
Vision so the complete the complete system so we'll talk about the power here in
8:01
just a second and then up here we have our air B air compressor
8:07
and then this is our secondary solar charge controller
8:12
so the redarc system has an MPP controller
8:19
but this is our secondary system and we added this later so that he could get uh
8:25
he wouldn't have to drive as far to completely charge the system because it's really sunny where he lives
8:31
so if he's only doing Weekender trips throughout the week these two systems
8:37
can make the most of the solar and keep the whole entire system topped off uh so we're gonna step around the back
8:44
and we're going to go into the van and we are going to start the fun part of the tour which is
8:49
the inside so the back we kind of went over how the
8:55
van came to be what uh the this van is doing as far as transporting his uh you
9:01
know wheelchairs paragraph or stuff like that so you may ask
9:06
is he going to take out that ramp every single time to get in the van no so this secondary system or this is the
9:13
primary really this is his wheelchair lift to get in the van so this system
9:20
comes down it's very simple very quiet
9:27
and so he'll wheel right into here hop in get his carabiners clip into the
9:33
wheelchair and this will actually bring him up into the van so he can come in
9:42
and then it'll continue to make sure we don't get our little bug
9:47
wall but the continues inside the van
9:52
he can unclip get in the van and then just retract it back
10:01
right there and then we'll just take this little bit of Velcro so it doesn't move around when he's driving
10:07
some of the safety features that we upgraded in this van uh are the battery combiner right here
10:18
so the battery combiner uh so what you're looking at right here this is the main power system shut off
10:25
for the lithium batteries down here we have our solar disconnect
10:31
and I'll tell you why that's supported in just a second so this first one is the battery combiner
10:38
and initial it's a on off switch first
10:43
it's a battery combiner second so if you need to turn this off to store
10:49
the van you can turn it off and all the power's off however the
10:54
reason you always need to have a solar disconnect switch handy is because if this is off if you have we have
11:01
significant solar on the roof so there's still power uh the van still being powered even
11:06
though you're disconnecting the batteries so you need to make sure that you have this cut off as well
11:14
the battery combiner is needed uh so this is something I thought up when I
11:20
was watching this operate if Thomas was to get in the van and this
11:25
was initially running off of the engine battery and let's just say something happened to fuse blue uh he would be stranded midair so we we don't want that
11:33
so the battery combiner is going to allow him to momentarily combine the
11:39
house batteries and the engine batteries so that he can continue to power the
11:45
lift get in or out of the van whatever he was doing
11:50
you don't want to combine the batteries for longer than let's say you know a minute or so it's more for an
11:56
emergencies technically you can use this to jump start your engine battery
12:01
um but really this is just for emergency use only but it's if you're in this type of situation uh or have the potential to
12:08
be in this situation this is a good fail safe so moving into the van you can see that
12:14
we don't have a step right here uh actually we did have a step
12:20
because it came with the floor kit that we're using from ABC rig
12:28
but there's not a place to uh you know wheel around inside the van so what we
12:33
did is I took the piece that uh we did use I repurposed it put it back in here and then we built out this full
12:39
extension so that there's much more room to to turn around in here
12:45
uh with a wheelchair
12:50
so we're going to come in here uh it's a little bit further into the driver and passenger area and you can see we have
12:57
two uh Factory Ford factory swivels
13:03
one on this side and then one on this side we have everybody's favorite table
13:09
in the van world the Lagoon table the nice big epoxied Butcher Block on
13:16
top uh Thomas really likes this because as you can imagine
13:23
having something like this to be able to wheel up to you know prep make food you know get in your laptop it's really
13:29
convenient the doors open he can leave this here get back you know get in and
13:34
out of the van and then you know come back in So this works out really well
13:40
uh there's a special Mount right here you can find this online eBay a lot of
13:46
people on Etsy actually make this Mount not this specific one but you can you can find this Mount
13:52
um so it may be hard to find at first but if you you know Google a little bit you can find this mount
13:59
and then what we're going to do is uh put together a list of these items that I'm pointing out and then that way if
14:05
you want to find them you'll have a quick link to check it out
14:12
so up on top of our driver passenger area we have the van wise shelf up here
14:19
and I've upholstered it with the same fabric that is throughout the van
14:24
and you're probably wondering why this is such a small opening
14:30
well this shelf was designed for a high roof van we're in a medium Roof Inn
14:35
so that is why this is here
14:41
but it's enough to hold the uh the window covers
14:48
down here so we're just going to go from the front and we're just going to move our way back we will talk about the
14:53
power system um so while we're here this is our
14:59
fuse coming from the house the engine batteries to our DC to DC charger for the redarc
15:06
red Vision system so the manager 30 specifically and that comes back here
15:13
now typically you guys can see all these wires in a professional build you want to hide
15:21
as much wires as possible make everything look as nice as you can the challenge with these wires is once
15:28
we do the floor system uh we got really excited about Baja
15:34
design lights and we kept adding lights and adding lights and adding more lights and
15:40
these are all the power wires Supply and power to
15:45
all the Baja design lights uh there's a lot and the power consumption is pretty high even though they're LED
15:53
so this is just here because of the way that we had to run
15:59
the wires but you know Thomas is happy with everything
16:06
um moving inside here we have the leveling level mate Pro
16:13
so this is an RV leveling device so this
16:18
will link up with your phone and you can find out if you're van is level so that you have a nice
16:25
flat level place to sleep so when you're driving your van you can get it to somewhere where it's level as possible
16:31
and then we actually have these inflatable bladders that Thomas bought and you can drive over them with your
16:38
tires and then using the ARB air compressor in their back he can hold his phone air up one
16:45
side and wait till it's level turn it off and then he's uh he's good to go and that way he can sleep comfortably in the
16:51
back on top of this we have a really cool Outlet so this
16:57
Outlet um it's our it's from our you know our inverter
17:03
and it's a normal household Outlet so your 110 outlet but then what's nice is
17:08
it has USBC charging and it has a USB a a
17:15
port so a c and an a port and two household because when you're building a van you
17:21
don't want to have all these multiple Outlets if everything is integrated into one uh it makes it really easy this is
17:27
the outlet that he uses to run his Keurig and his Keurig
17:33
is in this custom pull out shelf right here so this is pretty much uh you know the
17:40
kitchen itself we've got a Keurig we've got you know spices cups all that type of stuff in
17:46
here um and not only is this soft close but it also has a positive Marine latch here
17:53
I love these pool latches they're they're my favorite ones to use because they do a nice positive latch
18:00
a little Pro tip here I don't know if you guys can see it
18:07
um you can't see it on this one we'll look on here but
18:13
uh yeah so picking up this is his Keurig he'll put it up here and then he will plug it in right there
18:19
so let's move over here that's where I left off in the kitchen
18:25
in the kitchen um this is where all the
18:32
complicated systems are now the reason I say complex is because
18:38
check this out this van came with a rear air conditioner
18:44
I relocated the rear air conditioner to the middle of the van and there's two outlets here you
18:50
probably saw it in the beginning of the video so before I open this up we have to we
18:56
have a pull out cabinet we have a rear mounted Ford AC that's been relocated we have a two and a half
19:03
gallon hot water heater we have a seven gallon gray tank all inside here
19:11
so the engineering behind this and the water pump so the engineering behind this was uh
19:17
to the eighth of an inch I mean everything was it was so specific in here it was a challenge but it was a fun
19:24
challenge to get this all to fit this is the one this is the uh tank from
19:31
Panther RV that I like so much because it has a nice big lid the thing about gray tanks is that they're really hard
19:37
to clean because you usually have just a tiny opening this one you can really get your hand in there
19:42
scrub it out it has a pull handle
19:48
and then it has a brass fitting here for the drain and then we have this hooked up to this
19:55
LK sink if you look come back in here one more time that's our sea flow water pump
20:04
and then down here this is the little hack I was showing you guys if you have a felt stopper
20:11
that's adjustable when you shut your door
20:16
you can dial it in to have some back pressure on the door so that when the door shuts
20:21
it doesn't rattle when you're when you're driving but that's our system we got two and a
20:28
half gallons of hot water seven gallons of gray so this whole entire system is in here this is the LK sink
20:35
really enjoy it yeah come up in here this is nice because uh
20:42
it's a black sink with a black faucet looks really cool Thomas actually had someone make this custom uh cooking uh
20:53
cutting cutting board for it with a little finger hole so you pull this out and then you get access to the sink so
21:00
check it out this sink is a the reason I got this sink if you look here you'll notice
21:08
this is back it's offset normal sinks are in the center but I needed this space back here for
21:15
the hot water heater so you can see in a van how specific things may have to be designed to fit
21:23
So Not only was this it was black it was small and had this uh it was actually a
21:28
deep sink but the that drain being moved to the back gives you some room
21:34
a little bit of wiggle room okay so we're gonna move on from the sink and uh we'll show you the countertop
21:40
so this is a this is an inch and a half
21:45
countertop this actually was purchased from Lowe's it was cut down to size
21:54
yeah butcher block from Lowe's and it is solid Butcher Block so you may wonder
22:00
why we put such a heavy Butcher Block in here and this is why so Thomas uh is in a wheelchair and the
22:09
height of this needs to be as low as possible but I needed these structural strength of this to span across the
22:15
whole entire top so you can see here the fridge that we chose
22:22
uh this is actually laying on the fridge flush this so you can see this is the lowest possible way that we get the
22:29
kitchen so we went with that uh this is a vitro frigo fridge it's a
22:36
drawer style fridge and uh you can do fridge fridge
22:42
freezer freezer uh wrapped and it's been wrapped in the camo that's on the outside of the van so
22:48
the hood that you saw earlier it's been been wrapped as well looks really cool
22:54
and it is stainless steel but this protects it from the wheelchair Wheels
22:59
rubbing against the side so if you're building for uh
23:05
a customer they can be a mountain biker Thomas has a wheelchair always think about things that they may use on a
23:11
daily basis that can scratch you know the van up and you want to use materials that can withstand that so stainless
23:17
this is tough 80 20 aluminum very tough right here we have for Micah why this
23:24
specific fridge so we chose this specific fridge because imagine if you're in a wheelchair
23:31
you can't you know opening a door to get something out of the fridge is very inconvenient if you had the cooler Style
23:39
you could open it up and grab it but now you're taking uh away counter space so you can't use counter space
23:46
or you lose counter space so with this one what's nice is you can just pull it to your side you can get whatever you
23:53
want to and then you can come up here and get whatever you want to and you're you don't have to you can
24:00
access the fridge without opening the whole entire thing out so that's why we went with that
24:06
yeah yeah we'll check out these cabinets so up here
24:14
let me show you these two ports really quick before I for forget so
24:19
this is where Thomas this is the Murphy bed where he sleeps we're going to get to this is really exciting people
24:25
love to see how this was designed um so his cell phone usually goes here
24:31
at night time and this is a good way to obviously charge it up
24:37
this is these are really cool Outlets they're very hard to find so if you can see it says 65 Watts
24:43
so I needed to find a uh outlet that would charge
24:49
um an iPad and an iMac I mean not iMac MacBook Pro
24:55
and you you can't just buy a random Outlet you got to have something that has a uh something you can put a high
25:03
fuel like you can have enough voltage to actually charge the device and also the cool
25:10
thing about these These are on the Amazon list and you can you see where how you can turn them on
25:16
so instead of going all the way to your panel power panel you can turn these on and off from the actual system itself
25:24
so uh then you're wondering why do I have two well you need to always split
25:30
the power consumption up on the circuit because if you want to use a high watt
25:35
charger on the top but they're both off the same line then
25:41
he's gonna have to sacrifice power from somewhere so you always want to have these independently wired and
25:47
independently fused foreign next
25:52
we have a 36 inch
25:58
I think it's a 36 inch light it's a touch on touch off
26:03
so it just makes this uh it's LED yep
26:08
and then one thing that I'm very OCD about is color temperature so make sure
26:14
you match the color temperature of all the LEDs
26:19
this is uh I call this my art piece of the van is this ceiling so this is Pine
26:27
that's been stained and this uh Channel this I made these LED
26:36
lights for the top it's a diffuser aluminum diffuser
26:41
Channel and so basically this is a 4 8 12. so
26:47
it's 12 Banks of LEDs that have all been soldered together into one continuous
26:52
light um and I love it it was very exciting
27:02
uh so the measuring to get everything nice and even and as you can see here
27:07
there's you have to have a lot of forethought to actually have stuff come together very clean
27:14
so you're really mapping out how you're going to do it so that took quite a bit of time but uh
27:20
the the results are uh really stunning I think very very proud
27:25
of it it's awesome we tried to get as much storage in here
27:30
as possible um Believe It or Not uh this is something
27:36
Thomas really wanted was this type of uh kind of Chef Style sink so that he could actually take this
27:43
off and then wash down here and wash stuff off as opposed to just a nozzle where you
27:49
just can't really do anything with it um so there's always a give and take in advance so if you notice
27:55
we can't come down with the cabinets because we want this to you know be a part of the van
28:02
I'm not saying that this was the only decision but you know one of them as far as this counter height
28:07
the height of this still got room for paper towel holder
28:13
but this cabinet right here this 80 20 cabinet we went with the sliding style uh doors
28:20
because they're very simple they don't open up
28:26
and if you can imagine you know if you're in a wheelchair you and if this is your van you want things so easy and
28:33
accessible and reachable to where you're not having to do a lot of extra work since you actually have control of the
28:39
environment so back here
28:44
we have the cabinet so you can open up from either side
28:50
so this is the cool part about this type of 80 20. so you can actually if you
28:57
ever need to I got this from Humble Road
29:04
shout out shout out to Humble Road George this I really appreciate your
29:11
design are your ideas so this panel back here
29:18
um you can see it looks professional but so what I learned from George is
29:24
you've designed a panel like this so that if you ever need to get to
29:29
your your wiring back here if you need to change anything kitchen
29:34
wires and stuff like that you can access your wiring
29:40
and then when you're done
29:56
when you're finished you can pop it back into place and then this uh
30:03
it'll be nice and clean so let's put these doors back in real
30:08
quick and we'll move to the back
30:17
there you go and this material right here is auriga hexa
30:24
all right so moving on over to the power system we have this is our main control panel for the
30:32
band the main system that we're using is the red Arc
30:37
red Vision with the manager 30. so the red vision is the communication system
30:43
that allows you to control everything from your phone so everything that is in the van that's
30:49
connected to the red Arc system is controlled via the app on your phone
30:54
we also have the Garmin this Garmin unit is also Bluetooth and
31:02
this allows us to add more phone connectivity imagine
31:07
you know Thomas has hopped up his wheelchair he's in the driver's seat and he's driving down the road but he's like I forgot to turn the lights off
31:14
he just pulls out his foam he can turn the lights off he can turn the fridge off all of that
31:22
so between these two these are the wireless controls for the whole van the only switch that we have in the van is the dimmer for the lights that's the
31:29
only one so this way he can just quickly if he's in bed and just turn it off and then turn it back on doesn't have to access phone or this
31:35
but this is where you can do that the second light over here is for the kitchen and then the third light down here
31:42
is our light for our power system and uh it defaults a strobe mode so we
31:50
might change that later we'll talk about the power in just a second um so we got that this up here on top is
31:57
our JL Audio 12 inch sub so this is the amp for the sub down here
32:04
so custom sub enclosure everything from the red Arc up is 12
32:10
volts everything from the red Arc down is uh 110 household power
32:17
so if we come over here we've got our kotec SP 3000 inverter
32:22
we just hold this down we can turn our inverter on once the inverter is on all of our circuits
32:29
become live we have the Ford cabin Outlet which is the one
32:34
so when the here the microwave beep you know it's on the Ford cabin Outlet
32:40
this one is the outlet we showed you in the beginning the main cabin Outlet is this one right
32:47
here so this is what he would use to charge his paragolfer
32:52
we have our microwave and then we have our water heater so each one of these is a 15 amp circuit
32:58
and so at any time if you are doing maintenance on the hot water heater you
33:03
can turn it off if you need to unplug the microwave uh so anything if you need
33:09
to uh actually work on it you can safely disconnect it and then reconnect it you
33:15
don't have to have this used as a switch but you can if it makes you feel comfortable
33:21
the water heater is down here on this timer so you get a 5 10 15 30 or 60 Minute Timer when you turn this on
33:28
so let's just say we turn it on for 30 minutes it'll give the hot water heater 30 minutes that way you can walk away
33:35
not worry about it draining your whole entire battery if you forget
33:40
but it it only takes about 15 minutes 20 minutes to heat up all that water
33:47
let's come up here at the top we talked about the microwave so right here is where we have the microwave housed
33:54
it's bolted in we have a upper shelf
34:00
again that plastic here to access our wires in the case we need to
34:06
back here in the back I don't have it engaged but this is you can just check
34:11
out a YouTube short we did this is an RFID lock so the back of this cabinet can be
34:19
locked so anything in this chamber you'd have to remove the microwave to we have to
34:26
take this all apart to get to it so this is a very secure spot to put anything that you need to make sure is you know
34:34
not messed not mess with okay so moving from here we're going to
34:39
come on down and uh we're going to turn this on
34:44
and that way I can turn on
34:51
this underneath here we've got a red light so
34:56
that at night time we'll talk about the bed system here in just a second but this way at night time everything's red
35:02
uh it's dark enough so you can see or it's bright enough so you can see inside but
35:08
anybody outside the van can't see that you have lights on in the van so it's as stealth as stealth camera can
35:15
be even though you have a awful dry off wheel or off-road style van
35:21
um this is part of the bed cushion right here so this was uh made by Rome rest so they
35:28
make custom van mattresses we have them in one of our tour videos down here
35:34
is uh probably what you guys been waiting to see this is our power system
35:40
so we're using the red Arc manager 30 over here that manager 30 is what is taken in the
35:48
uh all these circuits of the van so we have all of our 10 amp loads on the left
35:54
we've got all of our 30 amp loads on the right obviously we have a fused
36:00
according to whatever their needs are but this box is what creates all the wireless capabilities of this van
36:07
the power is coming from the engine and it's going uh it's fused with the
36:14
lynx distributor so all the power from the uh the inverter the engine
36:23
um uh the solar this is all coming through here where the the bigger fuses
36:28
such as like Mega fuses for example that type is uh within the lynx distributor
36:35
it's a good box to use just to make installation easier for your big power
36:42
sources over here on the right hand side we have our two of our breakers for the solar so
36:48
we have two Banks of solar up top uh so we've got one breaker on the left one breaker on the right
36:54
and then the box back here this red Arc uh this is where the power from the
37:00
engine comes from before it goes uh comes into the links distributor fused
37:08
and then it goes into here for charging the the batteries
37:14
we can also charge it via Shore power we designed it so that this is not our
37:20
primary you know top off we got a solar in the engine but this right here is just in case
37:26
uh redarc pretty much just has a like a computer style power supply
37:32
plug-in it's a 30 amp DC DC charger and an mpbt
37:37
solar charge controller integrated into this box so what we're charging here with the the 30 amps is we are charging
37:45
our four 100 amp hour sok batteries so you can get down lower
37:51
and uh check this out so we have four sok batteries in here
38:00
uh and then we also have a thermostatically controlled uh two
38:05
intake and exhaust fans to make sure that we since this is a very contained unit or tight tightly uh sealed off unit
38:13
we want to make sure we have good adequate airflow for the inverter if it gets too hot so on the outside end of
38:20
the inverter there's a little probe that's epoxied on there and that probe
38:25
is going to turn those fans on at a set set point
38:32
and then over here on our left this is the last thing I'll show you before we uh check out the Murphy bed and go up on
38:38
the roof but over here we have
38:43
um our water so if we type click our water on
38:48
you come over here you see we have a light
38:54
so we got a blue light and then if we turn it off the light turns off so that light is
39:00
what's gonna that backlight is when it's gonna allow you to check your water level
39:05
all right so we'll put this back up here we also have our max air remote for the
39:12
two fans so one here and one there and then now we have our Murphy bed
39:19
so we made this in-house these are Ikea slats so it gives the bed
39:26
some Flex the bed's not in here so you guys could actually
39:32
we could film but here's another part of the uh mattress pad you can access the top of
39:38
the water tank here if you needed to do any maintenance
39:44
and then again we get our covering for wires right there this
39:50
has two Safety Systems so that is the main system you can lock it it's not
39:56
necessary this is the backup so this right here make sure that this doesn't rattle when
40:02
you're driving these are all 80 20 specific components
40:09
all right so uh that is the inside of the van we're gonna hop on a ladder here I'm gonna take you to the top of the van
40:16
and we will finish up the tour all right guys my cameraman has left me
40:24
so we are you're with me we're hopping on top of this van to uh show you the solar
40:31
so the top of this roof is a flatline vanco roof rack
40:37
and let me get comfortable here and here we go
40:43
so this is the top of the van and you can see we utilized as much of
40:49
the uh the roof real estate that we could
40:55
so what we have here is we have all renergy panels we've got a 175 a 175
41:03
and then so we've got that's a 350 and then so that's 350 455 50. yeah 550.
41:12
each one of these are 50 Watts so if you guys want to know measurement
41:19
wise you can see that the 50 Watts with the max fan
41:26
fit between the rails on a flatline vanco van
41:32
this is also I'll point out a couple of specific details this is Ford's antenna
41:39
for the satellite radio XM the Ford Sync that type of thing that it does not need to be under a
41:47
panel so you it is best to move that if you can if you're not really going to use that
41:53
then not a big deal uh you can kind of see here
41:59
where the little cable is then we got our Baja design light bar
42:05
our panels and then we've got all of our wiring for our rear Baja design Squadron
42:13
Pros so yeah um definitely a detailed roof up here as
42:20
far as trying to use much real estate from the roof as possible but it came out really nice
42:26
all right guys there are two things on this fan that I completely forgot to mention that are important
42:31
in the van tour which is uh bug Nets so specifically I wanted to shout out bug
42:39
wall bug wall is the company that did Thomas's van
42:46
so we have the door here and if you go around back we have the
42:52
back wall is also done
43:00
um so they actually make a cover to cover up the latches so if you actually
43:07
wanted to sleep with your doors open at night um that would be pretty cool you could do that
43:13
each of these strips magnetic down here so it opens up really easy
43:19
and they even have like this bar down here so it keeps this bottom from flapping around
43:25
and uh yeah bug wall
43:31
so I'll be doing the bug wall for that van right there as soon as I get back to it
43:46
so I got that checked off the list
43:51
um and that's not sponsored either that's just a company we used or Thomas found
43:57
for his bug net and as far as I can see it looks really good
44:03
you have a zip up here on this side and then these middle portion is the one
44:10
that opens up magnet Style so you just walk in and then let it close behind you
44:16
but I'm going to roll these up and I'm going to put out the awning because I
44:22
did not uh showcase the awning when during this uh
44:32
fan tour so something specific I wanted to talk to you guys about was the safety of the
44:39
awning uh not really thought about but this is the awning light and the awning
44:45
motor power so check this out if your awning motor power is off there's no way that you can
44:51
accidentally click this and it's going to extend the awning so that is a really good safety feature
44:57
so if you can put something like this a little bit of forethought into
45:03
make if you have a motorized awning make it to where you can turn off the power so that when you're driving down the
45:08
road you don't accidentally like throw this in the glove box and it gets pressed and your awning starts to come out
45:14
but what we can do here is if I go ahead and I touch the on and on we have our
45:20
beep and that is our wireless device that connects uh to the remote
45:26
so we're going to go aside and extend the awning let's come through here
45:33
Nova's hanging out all right so we have
45:39
here we go so this is Dometic self-supporting awning so it doesn't have the legs that
45:44
come out but we're just going to extend this
45:52
[Music]
46:00
and yeah so like I said self-supporting awning and as we're extending it it's
46:06
not doing this automatic I'm holding the button but right here we have our win sensor so
46:12
this will Auto retract in the event of some you know high wind
46:28
so what look how impressive this is look how far
46:33
that awning comes out and so we got the awning so that Thomas could put his paragrapher that we talked
46:40
about earlier underneath here during the rain uh ain't just outside in general when he's sleeping inside get him some
46:46
more room then if we go on the inside
46:53
we can come in here we can turn our awning light on
47:02
uh and the awning light is up there of course it is bright daytime
47:14
but yeah that is our awning and then as soon as we retract it all the way in
47:20
we'll cut the power off and that allows to to stay safe
47:25
and make sure the awning doesn't come out so uh all right back onto the van tour
47:32
[Music]
47:37
this side you can actually kind of see the camo Privacy Film that we got on there
47:48
what's nice is when you come inside the van
47:54
it is uh yeah you can see through it really nice
48:00
but I give you a little bit of b-roll here
48:17
yeah but that is the tour of Marine One hope you guys enjoyed it if you have any
48:23
questions as far as any of the products that have been used in the van I'm gonna put together a list for our Amazon list
48:30
if you guys are looking to uh jump start your van build I've created a DIY van
48:36
build cheat sheet it's essentially an Excel sheet of all the products that I've bought through Amazon over the past
48:42
three years they're all curated into an organized sheet that you guys can search through
48:48
click on the Amazon links it really helps out the channel it's a great way
48:54
to support us and this device this document it's really going to help you guys so if it's
49:00
their first time building a van and you don't know what products to buy because there's so many products in the market
49:05
you don't want to buy products and have to vet them on your own you can go on this list this list is stuff that I
49:12
vetted I've used these items anywhere from plumbing parts for the van
49:17
fuses uh any type of Hardware bolts nut screws stuff for the 80 20. the most
49:24
important thing in the list is the tools the tools on this list are what I use to put Thomas's van together
49:31
so these tools are everything from the rivnut attachment for your drill the
49:38
propex expansion tool for everything that we did into the in the sink area
49:45
um I'm trying to think of some other tools all the hole saws the hole saws that I needed to actually cut out uh
49:53
for the battery disconnects all of those tools the soldering that I use for the
49:58
the lights above those tools are on there so go there it's going to be a One-Stop
50:04
shop for you it's going to help you out it's going to help you save time and money by just buying the one thing you
50:09
need instead of 20 things you need so uh head on over to the link in the
50:15
bottom in the description below it's our DIY van build cheat sheet and I'm really
50:21
excited for you guys to uh to check it out so again link is in the description
50:26
below if you wanted to download that it's a completely free download so just put your name email address click
