thank you [Music]
0:47
thank you all right welcome back to the live stream tonight so we are in the part two
0:55
of this process so we went through and went ahead and put all of our kill mat down
1:00
so that we could sound dead and everything and it's just a 50 mil kill mat so it's very thin so you don't
1:07
really have to worry about it uh you know cutting it or moving it or forming it over the wheel wells for example
1:13
it's very pliable easy to work with and
1:19
I thought I was going to use more than I did but I actually only used
1:24
so here's the Box so again this is a killmat 50 mil
1:31
and it's 50 square feet and let's see how many sheets we have left so you guys can see it was all the
1:38
way to the top of the box right there so we have let's see here we've got one
1:46
two three four five six seven eight nine ten
1:56
eleven twelve so we got 12 sheets and we're probably going to use two more
2:01
sheets when we finish up the middle piece so we will have about 10 sheets left that we can you know put
2:08
wherever else we need to which is not much because we're
2:13
knocking this out pretty good throughout this process just wanted to
2:19
catch you guys up if you're just now tuning in and you missed the last two live streams
2:25
let's talk about the adhesive and the kill mat
2:33
kind of go through these products real quick so the kill mat has this uh
2:40
Dynamat is another company and essentially what this is is a foil backed sound proofing material so it's
2:48
got like Atari substance on the back and what it does is it changes the Ting
2:55
the tentiness of sheet metal to more of a thud so
3:03
thing here that is what it sounds like um
3:08
the past video we actually did kind of back and forth a little bit so if you want to hear the difference we covered
3:13
that and then the next thing is we put in this these pieces of lattice so there
3:20
are quarter inch PVC lattice and the technical word Let's uh
3:28
let me show you here this is what it uh it's called a PVC
3:33
lattice divider so it's just a
3:38
piece like this so it's not wood and uh it's not going to rot or anything like that
3:45
and we use this quarter inch divider to make up our
3:52
height to difference in the slats in the floor
3:58
so we did the flooring system on Thomas's van his floor
4:03
we got from ABC rig and the bottom of the floor had CNC cutouts that added
4:11
relief to the corrugations and allow the base of those pieces to
4:17
touch the floor we went with a different route because we had there's so much so many holes we
4:24
get the hole for the flip and fold seat that we cut out the plywood we've got the kitchen Galley hole out
4:29
there we've got the in-floor shower pan cut out we've cut out the floor for the
4:34
heater system we've cut out the floor for the inverter and some of the power components and then we've also cut out
4:40
the floor over here on this left side our right side for the water system so
4:46
um we still have a floor but a lot of those floor has been taken out
4:51
so instead of buying a product that we're just going to cut up I went back to
4:57
my install method for the flooring and it's kind of a hybrid for what I did on
5:03
my first van so my personal van about three years ago I guess almost
5:09
yeah about three and a half years ago now between that and then a couple of humble
5:14
Road techniques so that involves using the aluminum as uh
5:20
to strengthen things that we mount in here so we're going to use aluminum for
5:27
we have a pull out tray
5:33
that we have from Flatline vanco and that's going to go over here on this left hand side
5:40
so on this left hand side I know it's hard to see in the camera but there's four holes cut out drilled
5:46
out here through the frame as well as back here in the back these two and then this one inch aluminum is going
5:54
to we're going to remove the amount of material from the insulation which is just a one by one
6:00
piece and then what we're going to do on this back section underneath the areas where
6:07
we're going to mount something is we'll be able to put this uh
6:12
spacer in and that's going to allow us to mount uh
6:18
or to have the stress of that tray being
6:23
bolted down not compress our insulation now we have rigid insulation but it
6:30
doesn't mean that it's not compressible when you torque these bolts down it's going to sandwich it and with this
6:38
touching metal to metal on the corrugations it's not going to go anywhere
6:43
but the other areas where we have these big gaps we're using this lattice so for example
6:53
back up here get this out of the way so you guys can see we doubled it up
7:00
here because there's a corrugation here and here and this is just a big open
7:06
area so if you have a heavy load or you load something in your van it's going to
7:12
deflect the floor a little bit and it might it might cause it to feel soft and we don't want that we want the
7:17
floor to feel really structurally sound and you know comfortable to walk
7:23
on it doesn't feel squishy that's what I'm getting at
7:29
so once you do the kill mat and you do one uh piece of this plus the adhesive
7:34
that goes on top of it it's going to be now level with the forward corrugations
7:40
and so what we do is uh put it in all there
7:45
glue it in with the pl pre uh PL marine by Loctite
7:52
the reason we use this is because it works with vinyl which the PVC
7:58
is and it works with metal which the foil backed kill mat is
8:05
and that allows us just to bond it to that surface and then also we're going to lightly scuff up these middle ribs
8:12
and you'll guys you'll see that in just a minute and when we do that that is what we're going to
8:19
take our sanding pad we'll rough that down and we'll do our first glue in
8:26
uh while we have everybody on the live stream so you guys can
8:31
see what that looks like and if you guys want to you can go back you know watch these videos over to kind
8:38
of see how I do this process um so the back piece back there is a piece
8:45
of one inch XPS foam I'll show you the other side if you
8:50
haven't seen it uh it just has some spray paint on the back of it so
8:57
this is what we're using the formula 150 it's one inch
9:03
it has an R value of R5 and so this piece will actually go right
9:09
here and then we're not going to glue the wood floor to this today or tonight
9:16
because what we want to do is uh we want to set this down we'll put
9:23
the wood on it and then we'll put a bunch of weight but we want to get these foam pieces in first and let them cure overnight
9:32
um because for two reasons we can't put the wood in tonight because tomorrow we
9:38
are coating the wood with a special coating
9:43
so just to make sure we're fishing with our time we're going to go ahead and do one of the pieces which is the foam
9:50
and then we're going to do the wood the next day after that after it cures
9:55
so but we need to paint the wood with this is stuff right here it's from
10:01
Sherwin-Williams and it is they're waterborne bonding primer
10:07
and the technical name of this stuff is it's a urethane acrylic
10:13
but it's designed to coat wood and have the wood be prepped to receive the epoxy
10:21
coating on top so it gives it a good bonding surface um
10:26
you can kind of get away with putting epoxy on wood but sometimes it might
10:31
chip or like crack off and we don't want that to happen so this is going to be
10:37
that intermediary between the wood and the epoxy
10:43
and the epoxy that we're using is from lawn seal
10:48
and I'll see if I have the box over here
10:59
so looks like we're gonna have to do that later
11:08
yep so we'll do that later get that and probably part four
11:14
so the way this will work uh tonight we're going to get our foam pieces down
11:20
because they're all good to go they're cut out up uh
11:25
appropriately they go to the spacing the middle wood panel it has to be modified a little bit
11:32
uh it's a little tight by the heater and the back panel needs to be modified
11:37
because the hole to be accessed for lifting up the uh
11:44
actually I take that back we're going to
11:50
keep this covered because we're going to remove that's right we're going to remove the uh
11:55
the spare tire jack area because when you we've upgraded the
12:00
tires and the tire size um
12:05
we'll just we'll keep the parts in case the next owner wants to
12:10
keep that I'm not sure why you would go to a lower tire size on that Adventure van but we'll keep that Hardware
12:16
but we've upgraded to 255 65 uh let me make sure I'm saying that right
12:28
265 no 255 70 16. 255 70 16.
12:37
Tire and that tire will not fit back under the van
12:43
so that's why we have a rear tire carrier which will be putting on in a future video really soon
12:51
but what we're going to do right now is we're going to take the foam we're going to put a ton
12:56
of the adhesive on there so we need we need to put like
13:01
at least like a quarter inch thick bead and that's why I like using instead of like the spray adhesive or anything like
13:07
that I like using something that takes a while to cure because I can move the
13:15
piece of material into the exact position that I need to and uh you know I don't have to risk
13:22
putting it down and then I don't adjust it properly and I have to rip it back up because if I have to rip
13:27
that back up uh we'll have to the whole we'll have to do
13:33
the whole process over again it's not that bad because we have we do have a wood template but
13:38
uh it's just wasting time and material so we're gonna blow this out one more time
13:45
it's very clean but we're just gonna hit it one more time with the leaf blower and then we're going to go ahead and put
13:53
our big beads down and we'll install our first piece we'll put the
13:59
plywood on it and then you guys will see all the random stuff in the shop that has weight to it so that we can actually smush it
14:06
down so we'll do the first panel we'll get where we want it and then we'll come we'll do the next panel and then we'll
14:12
do the final panel and if you guys have any questions throughout this whole entire process put
14:18
them in the chat but once we get done with the third panel we'll be done with the live stream tonight it'll be done end of part two and then part three like
14:26
I said will be uh painting the pieces of wood tomorrow
14:33
we'll let that dry see how long
14:39
that's going to take
15:02
so for this let's see here
15:13
drying time tack free is 30 minutes you can re-coat in three to four hours
15:21
top coat so actually what we're going to do is
15:26
we're probably going to we may paint this we might go ahead and install it
15:32
tomorrow and then we'll just paint it while it's in the van instead of doing double but we'll see
15:40
we'll see how we planned out tomorrow we're just doing the installation tonight and then we'll uh
15:46
do everything else the next day so let me go ahead and get this tube of
15:51
adhesive and we'll get started
17:00
foreign
17:10
just take our block sander and just kind of rough up the pant a little bit we're not doing anything where we're going to
17:16
get close to the metal
17:22
and if you've ever worked on the Ford Transit you'll notice that little the coating that they use
17:27
on the uh paint even if you chip away at the paint
17:32
there's a really robust kind of uh
17:37
I don't know that corrosion resistant material underneath it which is nice because when you're
17:44
working on a van or designing something moving stuff around a lot
17:49
it gets to a point where you are scratching up a lot of stuff
17:56
now if you see black spray paint in here this areas where we did get down to bare
18:01
metal and so what we've done is uh go ahead and rust prevented those areas
18:18
so for the insulation we don't have to do too crazy on the uh the adhesive on the metal Parts but on
18:26
the lattice pieces we definitely want to go extra thick on that
18:39
and that's because there's about a sixteenth of an inch that is uh
18:46
that it's low in some places believe it or not but the floor of the vent is not perfect from Ford
19:07
so we're just scuffing this up and then what we'll do is we will come back
19:14
use the uh leaf blower one more time
19:44
foreign
20:00
now is the time to start thinking about once you're coming to this process you
20:06
know where or do any cables need to go before you glue this down at all
20:53
I'm just going to test with this one more time to make sure
21:01
I've got a channel on the back side
21:07
there's only one wire that I'm putting underneath this so on this side
21:22
so we're going to go ahead and put our positive and negative wire
21:27
and we'll just leave it up there and then we're just going to pull it Loosely to the back you can make this Gap bigger so that you
21:34
can drop it in there before you put your wood down but since we pretty much
21:39
already got this where we want it we're just going to lay
21:46
we're going to lay that wire underneath here because like I said it's the only wire
21:51
coming from the front going to the power system
22:34
foreign [Applause]
23:02
where I get the wire from it's uh from Amazon but it's windy nation is the brand that sells
23:09
this and uh really like it
23:15
a search term is welding wire
23:21
and you want to make sure it is the stranded not the solid core
23:30
and what's nice about winning nation is you can get this in
23:35
multiple links you can get it in just black wire or red wire
23:40
and this one is black and red I think we got about 50 feet of each
24:25
foreign
25:10
foreign
26:46
okay
26:59
so we're doing two runs of six gauge one's gonna go to our 50 amp DC to DC
27:06
and another one's going to over to our uh our second 50 amp DC to DC
27:13
so we will be cutting this and then we'll have a third line going over here to the
27:19
kitchen Galley where underneath it we're actually going to be putting our
27:25
Blue C systems breaker
27:46
so now we're just going to Temporary feed this up through here make sure we have an extra length of
27:52
cable
28:10
the nice thing about the back where we're putting our power system is there is this uh it's on each side of
28:18
a Ford Transit and you have these posts so there's three and over here on the right side and they're the grounds for
28:25
the tail lights and the other stuff in the van over here on the right we have the same thing
28:30
and what we're going to do is we're going to grind down to bare metal and uh which can you guys see it's right
28:36
here where my hand is I know you can't see it we'll grind down to the frame and then we got three bolt hole
28:43
locations and that's where we can land all of our grounds or the negative wires for our
28:49
power system to ground everything
28:55
and I'm just going to get a piece of green tape here so I can tape down this wire temporarily
29:26
again like I said we're just we're going to be running two these wires
29:38
so we really just want to make sure we have enough Slack
29:46
enough slack and spacing so then we put our second wire we were
29:53
got plenty of room
30:13
foreign foreign
30:47
both of these wires these cables are equal distance and just to triple check I'm going to go
30:53
to the power system and we're going to measure back how much space in the first terminal is
31:13
so over here in the power system all right so from the
31:20
wall on that side our first one is located at
31:25
we got 38 inches and then we've got
31:31
48 inches
31:37
so just to give us extra on both of those we're going to go to 65
31:42
which is the end of the box
31:49
so they give us about two feet extra wire so we should be plenty plenty good
31:57
come down to where our adventure wagon frame is we'll go to 65 inches
32:03
and then that is where we'll tape off and cut both you want to make sure that
32:11
both of the cables coming from the power system or your engine batteries
32:16
I forget that you guys can't see me
32:23
there we go you want to make sure that the length coming from your engine batteries to your DC to DC charger or
32:30
charge controller is the same length the same length for each box even though one
32:36
box is further the cable needs to be the same length so you will have extra cable
32:41
for this first one but just make sure that this cable is the exact same length
33:01
we're gonna take our Cutters these can be found on the DIY van build cheat sheet from Amazon
33:11
all right so we've got our first wire cut and we've got it taped down right here
33:23
and next we're going to take our second cable get some slack
33:29
we're gonna do the same thing
33:40
all right
34:00
foreign
35:16
foreign
35:48
into the kitchen Galley and that's going to the Blue Sea Systems breaker
36:02
it's overkill for that breaker but we are making sure that
36:08
the 100 amp breaker if the customer in the future would like
36:13
that breaker to pull its maximum current then it's
36:19
already pre-wired to allow it to do that
36:46
foreign
37:44
foreign
38:49
foreign
40:06
foreign
40:19
[Music]
40:37
so I'm going to put the piece of wood back over here because
40:48
I did not cut out my hole saw that I needed to
40:53
or this hole that I need to cut out earlier so I got to do it now
41:06
this hole is the access to the wire that we're running right now
41:20
the good news is we already marked it so we essentially just need to drill through
41:52
so technically doesn't have to be lined up it just needs to be lined up with the foam right here so this kit part we kept bare because
42:00
this is where the power is going to come so we'll actually we will have a
42:06
positive and a negative cable coming from here because we want to ground on those same back terminals in the back
42:15
we could do it here but there's a whole entire Adventure wagon uh
42:22
piece that's going here and then I don't want to cut and drill into it
42:29
so right here we need a inch and a half
42:35
make sure we don't need it we actually don't need a hole saw that big do we
42:41
see if we can use this bit because all we got to do is just pull the
42:48
wire through
42:54
let's see can we get two wires
43:04
let's see here
43:09
maybe we'll use a hole saw
43:17
Gotta Give us plenty of area to work with
43:49
and just give you guys a heads up uh this is not really like a tutorial this is a live stream of Nick building the
43:55
van so if you guys are enjoying it keep watching if you want to watch it later
44:02
for when you get to your flooring I completely get it
44:21
but instead of scrolling you can just watch Nick build Vans it might be more interesting
44:32
okay so we got a hole saw we went with uh inch and a half like we
44:38
planned and so this will be the
44:44
access port for our 12 volt panel so it's you know technically like a sub panel
44:51
and I know it's hard to see on the camera yeah it's impossible actually but uh imagine that you're up here
44:59
and this is traced out so I've traced out the whole floor plan of the kitchen Galley so I know where
45:05
all the walls are I know where everything is at and I did it ahead of time so when I come back I know
45:12
triple checking where I'm drilling you don't have to worry about anything so we're going to go ahead and drill
45:18
this hole and hopefully this is not blow your guys
45:23
speakers up and actually let's see
45:36
yep I want it here because I can offset the panel
45:45
yeah I don't think it's blowing your speakers out
45:52
[Music]
46:04
[Music] all right
46:14
foreign
46:26
there we go perfect
46:33
awesome that actually worked out better than expected because
46:40
I wanted to have future access to this kick plate area if somebody wanted to
46:46
actually wire something into here
46:51
like me I wanted to wire a light so it was perfect
47:00
all right so I'm going to mute this just for a second
47:07
because I'm going to vacuum and it will be very loud
48:19
okay audio should be back
48:33
all right so the good news is this is going to come straight through here
48:41
and let's just make sure that when we have it glued down and we can still access our
48:48
wire
49:04
so looking pretty good let's see if I can remove
49:10
that kill mat that I put across there it's a
49:22
catching on the
49:51
catching on the bottom right here
50:01
I may need my heat gun for this foreign
50:07
so if you do what I did just be very careful you can cut through the foil and you won't actually cut into the van
50:16
so we don't want to do
50:53
well
50:59
we're just gonna have to leave it the kill mat has an excellent adhesive
51:04
so once it's down you're not getting it back up so
51:11
uh so we're gonna do plan B because we fixed it here
51:17
we're just going to go and we're going to cut out our foam
51:22
because we need to make sure that those wires are not uh rubbing on themselves
51:30
during this whole the whole time that they're in the van
52:07
thank you
52:15
okay modification done now
52:22
you've got good access to our wires coming in here
52:27
and the plywood is going to take care of everything else we just don't want when
52:33
the wire comes and it comes and starts pulling straight up we don't want it to uh
52:38
snag on anything we actually have a metal Edge right here so
52:50
it's a good example tonight even though we got the floor finished we're you know knocking everything out
52:55
this is part two of the whole series it doesn't mean that you can't stop and
53:02
fix something before you go too far you don't have to have everything completely planned out and I'm not just
53:09
saying that because I'm in you know we're live and we're kind of in this situation right now but
53:15
you know if it's your first time ever working on a van using tools or anything like that you know don't don't rush it
53:22
you know you want to cut anything that you're not supposed to
53:27
you want to make it very safe because even though we're doing something as simple as the floor you can
53:33
see how we have already started to integrate our uh Power System just like that so it's
53:41
not just the floor now everything's starting to come together and if you need to take a moment stop and get this right now's the time to do
53:48
it before you glue anything down even if you have to wait till tomorrow
53:54
so there's my it's one of my Pro tips for the night so right here I've got the sharp edge
54:01
and so what I'm doing is I'm putting an extra piece of kill mat
54:07
so you just heard me say that I want to remove it and now I want to add more so you're probably like what are you what
54:12
are you doing well I'm more concerned about this sharp edge
54:20
and the wire that I'll be living on top of it it's not that sharp it's actually very dull but
54:27
any type of edge in a van you want to make sure that it is
54:32
very very smooth so what we've done is now we've wrapped it over and see I can rub my hand on here all
54:39
day it's nice and smooth so we're not gonna have any problem
54:46
the power cable coming over
54:51
I know you guys can't see this but uh yeah to move everything is would be
55:00
very challenging
55:18
okay so that looks good so if we glue this down we'll be good to
55:25
go so I think we're going to glue this down put the wood on and then we'll wire this
55:35
so this is this one will will wire after we can go ahead and actually glue this and start moving on which will be which
55:42
will feel good because we'll start making progress um yeah let's do that
55:56
so we were talking about actually the seams right here so we're not going to do that at this location
56:03
the back right here here in the back is where we're going to do our aluminum right here is
56:10
unnecessary because we have it underneath the kitchen galley and the fridge so
56:15
it's uh it's going to be covered
56:23
so we're going to go ahead and take this and then we're going to move move on back
57:01
all right
57:20
foreign
58:05
get a clamp to hold the foam up just temporarily while I put our adhesive down
58:16
and then we're going to blow it with a leaf blower one more time just to make sure
58:38
[Music]
58:47
thank you [Music]
59:00
all right finally time for the fun part gluing the foam down
59:06
it's taking forever to get here right
59:12
okay the cool thing about this tape is we can just leave this down
59:17
it's all going to be covered up but it'll keep all of our cables in place and actually want to put one more piece
59:23
here
59:46
foreign
59:54
we're going to have we'll have some more wires but they're
1:00:00
going to be in the back panel so we'll have a communication wires for
1:00:05
the uh the system that we have
1:00:11
the back Channel so for the renergy one for example
1:00:16
and also the Webasto controller so the first channel that's on the Ford
1:00:23
Transit which is right about here we can't use that because that's where
1:00:29
we have our shower pan as we come back we can't use the next one because now that is what we're using
1:00:36
as a cross piece for our pull out tray which I just noticed
1:00:43
this piece got moved there we go
1:00:52
our cross piece for our tray the reason that was critical is if you
1:00:58
can imagine you have this whole tray let's say you have a Dometic Fridge or something like that on it
1:01:03
you don't want to pull your whole slide out tree with all your gear on it and then you come out and it rips out the
1:01:10
bolts um so if you guys are planning on putting a pull out tray of any significance
1:01:16
please through bolt it through your van because don't rely on the half inch plywood in a
1:01:24
wood screw to have that cantilevered weight and hold it
1:01:30
bolt it through the van so we have four grade eight bolts up there
1:01:36
and then we have two grade eight bolts right here because all the Leverage is going to be on that back side it's going
1:01:41
to be wanting to lift up so we had that aluminum bar that's going to go there a second aluminum bar and
1:01:48
then from there to here we don't have any other way to cross our wires on the floor because of the corrugations
1:01:54
so this last transition here on the Ford is our last opportunity so what we'll do is we'll have that
1:02:00
piece of metal right here and then what we're going to do
1:02:05
is we're going to uh we'll cut the insulation back right
1:02:12
here and we'll just have the wood cover it and it'll give us a little tunnel and then all our communication our power
1:02:19
wire for the 12 volt uh secondary fuse system
1:02:26
all that I'll go through here and what's nice is we'll have a opening over here by the inverter and then opening over
1:02:33
here by the water tank so in the future all you'd have to do is take your panels off and then you can
1:02:39
you know run wires back and forth so I'll make
1:02:45
any owner you know future owner if they want to change stuff up they'll actually have a way to access it and you know
1:02:52
fish wires in and out you can fish wires in this van on the top the problem is the eventual wagon
1:02:58
kit makes it really tight to do that so doing stuff on the bottom
1:03:04
is what I would suggest all right guys very exciting we are
1:03:11
actually I'm gonna wipe this down with a rag a dry rag it's a little
1:03:16
we didn't get all the dust off
1:03:30
it's okay this uh Marine adhesive is excellent so
1:03:37
well we've gone ahead and we sanded we scuffed up all of our edges uh so I'm just getting that residual of dust from
1:03:44
the insulation that came on here
1:03:53
all right perfect perfect
1:04:00
we're going to start from the left side and work our way towards the door and on our floor we've
1:04:07
got markings so we know where each panel ends so that's where we'll stop putting adhesive
1:04:13
we're just going to do one piece after the other one and because we had this little hiccup
1:04:19
over here what I might do is just show you guys how to glue this panel in right
1:04:25
now put the panel down put the wood put some weight on it see if we have any questions in the chat
1:04:32
and we'll probably call it a night because I need to make sure this wiring
1:04:38
thing that we or that I needed to modify gets done correctly
1:04:45
let's see I saw Humberto do go and do as a comment here
1:04:55
so humble Road do a wire trough on the bulkhead under the bed towards the top makes sense I'm adopting that
1:05:01
functionality but I like your floor idea as well um yeah so perfect world that wire
1:05:08
Highway a little trough that he does that's excellent but this build is designed so that
1:05:17
the bed system is completely removable so if you wanted to haul furniture or you wanted to put big sheets of 4x8
1:05:22
plywood you could go from the back all the way to the front so there's gonna there's no
1:05:28
wall in the middle you take the whole bed out you can see both of the kitchen galleys
1:05:35
and uh so that's kind of how this is so this is going to be extremely open lots and lots
1:05:42
of storage for gear Adventure Gear all that stuff adjustable bed so everything really needs to kind of
1:05:49
come over here but yeah and as you know humble Road says options you want to have options so we have our tray here or
1:05:57
if you wanted to do the highway you could um yes two two live streams in one day
1:06:04
uh uh I wanted to get to part two I'm really trying to get this van knocked out
1:06:11
um awesome glad to hear that the cheat
1:06:16
sheet worked on Prime day that's really cool uh no there wasn't really anything I needed
1:06:23
I did buy um there's two other products that will be added to the list there are two solar
1:06:29
panels that I have not used before two are renergy and then the other one
1:06:35
is uh uh new power
1:06:41
it's a it's not power it's power I think with an a
1:06:47
but I've seen people use that the reason I needed that exact panel is because it's
1:06:54
220 Watts and it's the exact Dimension I need to
1:07:00
fit between the AC unit and the max fan and it's the exact width I need for the roof rack and it was the only one that
1:07:07
came like that it's got good reviews but I mean solar panels are very very
1:07:13
similar manufacturing wise so I don't think there's going to be an issue
1:07:19
uh but yeah that's going to give us um here let me make sure I'm telling you
1:07:24
guys the right information
1:07:32
it's a 220. so this van is going to have 400 and 120 watts of solar on the roof
1:07:41
I was trying to go for 600 but we'll go for 600 on the next one
1:07:50
all right here we go you guys can do a drum roller or whatever but we're we're gluing down
1:07:57
our first piece of insulation in this van after
1:08:02
Wards came in and out of the van about 100 million times it's finally time to lay it down
1:08:09
so I'm going to start with a bead on the Ford rib
1:08:42
and we're just going to do some dots back here if you do that it's helpful and then you
1:08:48
don't have to keep looking to where the line is you just know where the line's at and remember we're going to do it really
1:08:53
thick on our vinyl pieces because they're about a sixteenth of an
1:09:00
inch lower than our top piece
1:09:09
[Music]
1:09:20
[Music]
1:09:26
foreign
1:09:57
how much tubes of caulk
1:10:02
well adhesive actually that we're going to use so
1:10:09
because I just ran out of course I have been using this on the
1:10:14
lattice pieces so
1:10:19
it's not that crazy I ran out but I only bought four more tubes so
1:10:31
foreign
1:10:41
this is not on the Amazon list but you want to make sure if you have a caulk gun or you can
1:10:48
cut it and
1:10:53
pierce it 'll make your life very easy
1:11:02
now why don't I have a Milwaukee automatic caulk gun I don't know
1:11:08
that is something that uh I need to get
1:11:22
but you see guys when you have this type of sealant that doesn't instantly cure
1:11:29
you know you really have a good amount of time to work with it and just take your time
1:11:37
which is really nice
1:11:59
foreign
1:13:12
foreign
1:13:31
and really put it on over here by the door because Ford I mean they're not building
1:13:38
these for camper vans but this area over here has extremely little amount of
1:13:46
corrugations I'm not sure if that's because of their passenger seating over here
1:13:52
or what but
1:14:00
if there's going to be a squeak in your floor this is this is the area that you want to make sure you really really get
1:14:09
the adhesive on
1:14:17
all right so it took a whole entire tube to do one panel so
1:14:23
I think we got enough uh next part is the fun part we're going to lay it down
1:14:33
and let Nova go outside really quick
1:14:49
all right here we go let's see just check the chat real quick before I
1:14:56
start this other process
1:15:09
all right we look like we're good to go perfect release it
1:15:24
make sure we didn't forget any spots here
1:15:31
yeah it looks like we're doing really good all right
1:15:51
well let's go back
1:15:57
snagged on something over there
1:16:12
okay we're good over here on this side
1:16:29
okay oh that looks good let's move this just a little bit
1:16:36
okay so that's perfect perfect
1:16:42
all right let's get our wood on here and start weighing it down
1:16:49
got our line up here
1:17:08
remember we're just temporarily putting this wood on
1:17:13
so I put my foot here just so it doesn't drag as I
1:17:19
push this on here
1:17:37
all right let's see if we moved it all good
1:17:50
okay start loading this up with some weight
1:18:15
all right
1:18:22
foreign
1:19:40
foreign
1:20:05
excess
1:20:36
all right guys that's gonna do it pretty much for the live stream tonight I'm going to put a bunch of weight on here I'm
1:20:43
actually going to just clean off the excess an adhesive
1:20:50
and then after the stream's over I'm going to go through and
1:20:55
uh I'll go ahead and weigh this down and let it sit overnight
1:21:00
because I need to finish a little bit more of that power situation we had over there I need to
1:21:08
get that dialed in a little bit better before we do a permanent floor install
1:21:55
all right that looks good
1:22:01
all right let's see one more over here
1:22:25
all right guys that's it for live stream uh for part two of the floor install essentially
1:22:30
to complete this process you would just take your installation and just
1:22:36
kind of rinse and repeat you know put the put it down weight it weigh it or put weight on it the second
1:22:43
the third piece what's stopped us from completing is this right hand side over here I need to
1:22:49
double check two things I need to modify the wood panel tomorrow for the middle piece
1:22:55
where the heater is and then as well as the back and then
1:23:01
uh in the meantime I can I can finish doing what I was doing with the floor
1:23:07
so I'll do that get that all prepped for tomorrow tomorrow we will be
1:23:14
sealing the wood putting that uh epoxy coat on it not the
1:23:21
epoxy but the uh the bonding primer and then we'll uh we'll just keep moving
1:23:28
on and then that way we can just uh get the floor knocked out keep on going
1:23:34
so hope you guys enjoyed the live stream tonight we're going to continue this series every night until the van's done so it's
1:23:42
going to be this format so we're pretty much not going to be doing any like educational other than you literally watch me work on the van
1:23:48
but if you guys have made it this far whether you're watching tonight or in the future make sure you guys check out
1:23:54
the DIY van build cheat sheet the DIY emblem cheat sheet is a sheet that I put
1:23:59
together of all the materials that I've bought off of Amazon over the past three years it's a great resource to go
1:24:05
through it's highly organized so you have all your electrical parts tools fittings stuff like that that I've used
1:24:12
for vans that are parts that I've vetted parts that have again that I've personally bought so anything on that
1:24:18
list it has an Amazon link the link also helps support the channel so we really appreciate that if you use
1:24:24
that list but the nice part about the list is it's completely free so just go to Van builderhq.com click on the link
1:24:30
it'll be delivered right to your inbox or you can click on the link in the description below
1:24:36
if there's anybody that is building vans that you know of and you think that the DIY van build cheat sheet or this video
1:24:42
can help make sure you share it make sure you guys are subscribed to the channel if you're not already like this
1:24:49
video and we'll see you guys in the next live stream really soon again hope you
1:24:56
guys enjoy the video and we'll see you in the next one
