pretty exciting we are celebrating 1 000 subscribers so thank you to everyone who

has subscribed who has participating in the channel left comments questions and

uh yeah just been here for uh the journey over the last couple months it is very exciting

today we're going to talk about a couple things we're going to talk about uh the flat Flatline vanco kitchen

Galley which is right behind me so that came in uh

I guess two days ago and then we're also going to talk about

just kind of what's what's going on with the van and as usual if you guys have any questions put them in the chat below

we'll hop on ask those questions um it can be anything van related so ask

away uh I'll stop answer them the best that I can

but yeah behind me we have the Flatline vanco kitchen Galley and we're gonna go

to their website really quick and I'll show you what a

what the nice photos look like and then we'll come back uh to what I have here on the computer

all right I'm gonna pause on the screen just for a minute I'm trying to get this inside camera in the van working

all right fightline vanco so if you guys have been on the streams before you've

seen that I have uh Boston practice from this company I really like

then hop on over to Adventure wagon compatible parts and so the parts here are just what it

says they're Adventure wagon compatible which means the system or the structure

inside the van so if you look at this photo up here where my mouse is this structure

the L track this is going to allow you to mount in cabinets kitchen galleys

that sort of thing nice and safe you know bolted to the structure of the van

and it's an alternative to Adventure wagon so if you go to Adventure wagon

the main system is Adventure wagon it is their interior system

so all these components go into the van and their main system if you guys have

not heard me talk about before it's an internal kind of skeleton frame that is riveted to the van structure itself

and then all these little holes are what you Bolt the L track to and then once uh

they're all pre-upholstered panels and so once you put them in the L track does two jobs it holds the panels in the

upholstered panels and then it also provides all the mounting locations for the van So Soft bags their bed systems stuff

like that um but this kit is more than that it you know you can do all kinds of stuff

but really what it's doing is giving you a nice modular system to to work with

so what we're doing is instead of going to their products where they have the

storage system so let's just say they're um

mini mule bags so these are the soft bags but if you wanted to do something with a little bit more structure to it

you can do the Flatline vanco um let me back up you can do the

uh these hard cabinets from Flatline vanco and then in the back of the cabinet you can see that these slots so

there's these slots here and up here and all this is specifically designed this angle right here

is specifically designed for a sprinter it will still work in the Ford Transit

there just might be a slight gap on this back side so nothing too crazy

um to be honest I'm ordering these cabinets so when they come in I'll be able to show you guys more precisely how

they fit um but they are available I mean they they

do work with uh the Ford Transit I'm trying to see where they actually say that

um actually this is a good picture so you see the top up here you got these brackets

so these brackets are going to allow you to um hook into the adventure wagon kit itself

now a benefit to the adventure wagon kit is Flatline also has the bed system so

uh I purchased a Transit bed system and so

this system is adjustable uh it's not as fancy as the adventure

wagon system and its adjustability so the adventure wagon if we go to

the Moab elevator bed you'll see here that the bed

the bed system itself looks like this so it bolts into the uh

system however

uh if if you have a budget for this bed system

this is what is specifically designed for the adventure wagon system but if

you don't want to do 3600 and you want to come down to 2100

uh you'll be able to put this system in it's a bit simpler

but I actually like this system better because these three panels uh easily

detach so only six screws or bolts are what hold this onto our bed system in

uh then these rails these side rails stay in the van so right here this side rail it would

stay in your van and then you can just move out these panels whenever you needed to haul more gear equipment or

anything like that so you saved some money and I think it

it's a little bit uh more flexible and to top it off you can actually

purchase their um mattress

uh this mattress actually Folds

pretty nice so this is custom made to uh for this bed system

so we'll talk about that I'll make sure I'll try to make sure I can get the camera working here in just a minute

so this is what we got today or day before yesterday

this is our kitchen galley what's really nice about this is if you just want a simple small kitchen Galley

that can do multiple uses so for example fit a refrigerator it also fits the

drawer Style isotherm drawer 65 fridge

so there's enough room they designed it to where there's enough room for the drawer fridge and a sink to be in the

same unit now obviously you're going to need to have a sink that drains to a gray water tank if you're going to do

this setup uh because you won't have room to actually put in uh you know your Jerry cans to

catch the water and then they they do a really good job of uh

maximizing the space because as you can see here we have sync we have a fridge and then at the bottom we have a nice

bamboo drawer and I can now say that the fit and finish of this is pretty incredible

uh it is very nice um so it's made out of aluminum it's about

powder coated aluminum you can get in different colors black right white gray

um

and this is a perfect example this is exactly how we're going to be using it so behind the flip and fold seat

this is a fix seat they have this photo but behind the flip and fold we'll have this and then we have the bed system so

nice clean setup

so let's go ahead and get to the photos I know you guys want to see the photos

so here is what it looks like in the van so let me zoom in just a little bit

there you go uh so you can see this is

very for very well put together look really really close and you see where the slot is so

this is the piece of L track so this is where one L truck ends another one will go vertical and then there'll be one

over here on the right side I mean left side and then this is how we're going to bolt in the Kitchen Gallery we'll bolt it on

the left and we'll bolt it over here behind this on the right and that'll be bolted into the structure

of the van so uh you know in the event of an accident for example this kitchen

Galley is going to stay put and be as safe as possible

now if we go to let's see if I can get the next one

okay I don't know what I'm saying here so I'm just gonna fast forward let's see here

um okay we're talking about the kitchen galley

uh let me mute this and then you can see I've actually already taken out the floor so I've

taken out the floor and what I've done here is if I can zoom in

here we'll pause see this rail so the rail stays put and you can just take the bed support members out

okay so what we did is we took the piece of uh flooring out and then what we're going to do is we're going to sit the

flip and fold seat on there we drilled from underneath the van so that locates our flip and fold seat and then once the

flip and fold seat is located on this wood what we're going to do is actually go and trace it out

so I've already traced it out in this video and just as a reference if anybody's

using this flip and fold seat I am offsetting it from the wall seven inches

and if you watch my previous live stream this is really the only place the seat

can go um I can't move toward inside

the uh towards the inside of the van but that doesn't make sense because you want to maximize the space when the seat is

folded up but just if anybody's wanting to know uh seven inches is the offset from the

wall

so this is what it looks like once we've moved the seat out of the way and we've got our positioning

then if we keep going this point a lot

oh I know what I'm saying uh the reason that we're cutting the wood out is because you do not want to mount

the seat on top of the plywood and on top of this formula 150.

even though it has a 15 psi compressive strength it's not smart it's not safe for a seat you want the seat base plate

to be metal to metal

so we're going to go ahead and there's Nova hanging out

but let me go ahead into the next video here

so the next step was to actually line up and use the track saw and we're cutting

cutting the uh the slot out now I always use a track saw as much as

possible to keep everything just very clean and neat because I'm uh

wanting to trim this out into aluminum one inch angle and you don't want a

jigsawed line you're following you want something that's extremely Sharp um

so then the last bit you can take the multi-tool that's what I do and I just uh cut the edges just nice and clean

so once this is finished I go ahead and bring it back into the van

and then I've laid it back down in place

The Next Step I'm going to do is take that multi-tool and I'm actually going to cut the foam out

so I can just use my floor as the template and then just take the foam right out

go ahead and clean everything up and then you can see here

this is where everything's going to be metal to metal now there will be a

some washers that are going underneath here so they're very wide

washers good surface area because we have this rib

and to deal with the rib we're going to have to obviously raise up these eight

holes but we actually have ten so there's gonna be 10 bolts holding this down there's two more that we haven't

drilled uh they just weren't necessary yet because I'm doing all this test fitting

so we've got those holes um so yeah that's pretty that's pretty much it

I'm going back to my face because I don't know what video comes up next on this computer

uh let's see here there we go

so this was very difficult this seat weighs it's I don't know maybe like a 100 pounds

uh you should be having somebody help you with this but I found out a way to kind of lean it

and tilt it in there I went ahead and set the seat in place and you see how it goes in nice and even

and we've got we've still maintained our clearance from the window everything is good to go

and that's where we stopped on the seat

so next uh we're just checking the operation of the seat I'll move my face out of the way

and so the point here was let me back up again so the point here is we're the whole point of putting the seat back in

is we want to uh we want to take the Flatline vanco 24

inch Galley and we need to find a if this seat is leaned back

so if somebody's sitting in it and they're pushing their back we want to make sure that there's not there's no

possible way that the seat back can tap the kitchen Galley but we do want the

kitchen Galley to be as close to the seat as possible

so we just went ahead and put this in here and you see me I'm going to shake in the seat and making sure that it

doesn't touch and then after I'm done with that I go ahead and Mark a reference line on the floor

um then I'm just opening the drawer this is what I found out it's actually a soft closed drawer and locking drawer

pretty nice

so this next part here we are I'm taking this red piece of Steel

and I'm locating where uh I want the adjustable bed to go

uh now one thing I'm actually going to ask a question to you guys if you're watching this live stream in a minute is

the offset and the width of getting into the van with the second kitchen Galley

so this one behind me you can see how this is obviously not

the one that's going to go here this is the one for the back that we're talking about but I wanted to ask you guys if

this width would be comfortable for you so right now we have

we got 22 and a half inches wide for the door entry

because the cabinet that's going here is 41 inches so we have our

reference from the bed comes 24 back for the other kitchen Galley and then it'll come 41 inches in

from the other one and so the question is

do you think let me get over here moving desk is pretty cool right

let's see

so the question would be do you think that 22 and a half inches is wide enough to get into the van comfortably

because what we're doing is we're going to have to see the 41 inch is going to be better use of

space you're going to have a drawer for utensils on the right side you're going to have a

big door here for not only putting you know Jerry cans gray water

tanks that sort of thing but you're also going to be able to fit the fridge in there so you'll have a

kitchen drawer utensil drawer fridge an additional drawer at the bottom

water storage sink so the unit can hold more things

make a better use of space but it does come over this lip here so

I'll conceal this lip

I'll clean it up and we'll probably put a uh an electrical outlet so that you can plug in and uh have some power

outside if you wanted to cook outside or just needed some power um but right there if this looks like

enough room

to me it feels pretty good getting in and out but uh yeah love to hear your your feedback if you guys think that

22.5 inches is wide enough I know when I go look at the the rebels

or like the soulless and stuff like that I I feel the rebel especially is it

feels very narrow and tight so um I'm curious let me actually go do

dealership local and and measure the in the the width

um but yeah back over here uh what we're doing is we're taking this and we are

setting the height of the adjustable bed now you can put this bed as high as you want but there is a limit

so the limit will be three inches lower than this current position so if you can see this little

brass nut or zinc plated nut when you come down

it's going to be right on top of the countertop and that's as low as the bed can go but

the rear of this van is designed for mountain bikes so typically

when I've looked online mountain bikes are asking for around 34 inches or more

currently this height gives the underneath the bed 42 inches

so we got 42 inches minus maybe an inch for the uh pull out tray that the

mountain bikes are going to go on so that might be let's say you call it 40 Maybe 40.

so 40 inches of height and I think anywhere from

34 to 40 inches is like perfect for mountain bikes uh when you get up to the 40 inches it

might be possible to where you might not have to take the seat off so that might be a good bonus but you're going to have

a lot of garage height with this uh design

but you can see this is why it's so important for us to measure where the seat is versus the kitchen Galley versus

the bed system uh now I mapped this all out ahead of time but it's really nice to see after

everything was planned for that it lines up I mean just uh actually perfect

so I'm pretty happy about that

now the power system will be right behind me here and we've got a ton of batteries so

enabled to fit the inverter and the batteries uh I mean everything is just uh pretty much

like Thomas's build everybody just everything has a home it has its spot and there's really no more

uh room so that's why I really want to maximize the

kitchen galley uh if I can push it out as much as possible so I can make all that

accommodation because if you're in a van you want a utensil drawer you want a drawer you can

open up in the kitchen and get your fork and knives and stuff like that do you want to draw on the bottom where

you can house your induction stove uh you know Room For Gray Water stuff like that

um let's see what's next

so next we have a view of the back side of the kitchen galley

and this white table if you guys are looking at it so that is an integrated table that stores in the back of this

flip and fold seat it's really cool

let's see the next step I'm just sitting in the seat uh don't worry about it wobbling I only have like four bolts in

they're not even tight they're just there to hold the seat um

yeah when but when you're building your van you know experience each part of the build uh don't

kind of put it all together and be like oh man this doesn't fit this doesn't feel right as you're progressing your

build you want to make sure everything's comfortable uh and then push the limits you know

maybe you see how close you can get that seat to the driver's seat and if it's uh still comfortable

um or pull it back you know just uh just just play around with it before you make it permanent

so that's why I'm doing all this I could have already had the floor done and installed but then I you know I wouldn't

be able to drag around and kind of uh you know play around with the interior to see exactly how I want it because

what I'm gonna have to do is there's places in this van where I need to run power down the van for the uh DC to DC

charger and then across the van for the water heater and the outlet by the door and communication and and stuff like

that so typically I don't want cables underneath the floor but

with the adventure wagon kit I thought I would be able to uh I

thought I would be able to actually do all the wires behind the padding and stuff like that of the van but it's not

actually working out that way that's not a bad thing it's just the top the

adventure wagon section is so precisely fit and it's so close to the band that

the channels in the rear of the van uh so if you're doing a roof mounted AC that's fine you have a whole channel to

go down there uh if you wanted to do some communication right here above um the door entry you can do that but

you know running wire through all the nooks and crannies behind the van I

don't like to do that because there's so many sharp edges and my belief is if you

just even if you cover the cables with plastic and then you did some more protection they're still kind

of moving around in there so maybe if you can do some straight runs into the floor um I think that's the best option

so this next part we are installing the rail on the side

so how much you guys watch this I'm gonna try to get this other camera up

see if we get that camera in the back of the van going

uh yeah but right now I'm just measuring to make sure the same the height of the bed rails are the same

and once you lock him in the the method that they're using to lock them in are these little let me show you these things

so when you have your 80 20 80 20. good Lord uh when you have your L track

um this is your L track and then this is this is what the little

fitting looks like now you can get these fittings to lock into the L track and this stud right here you can get

multiple links so uh when I have stuff go through the 80 20 I'll have two inches gives me a half inch to bite on

with a nut and then I have this one is one inch this is just more of a tester piece that I bought

but this will slide in here and it'll make it to where see you can

slide it up or down and then you have this disc right here that you find your position

and that locks it and then to lock lock it all the way down what you'll do is

you'll tighten this bolt all the way and that that's not going anywhere so for example when I do the 80 20 for

the back once I get my water tank cage or frame built I can just come in here and then

lock the whole water system in lock the power system in

all right pretty good pretty good

these nets are what I put in Thomas's band so you can put your cell phone stuff like that

we have cargo all the electrical so all the electrical items even including uh

like the duplex Marine wire Lucy system Mega fuses anything like that that I've

used in a van and then even windy Nation I've got all of the uh like six gauge

cables that I use and I continue to go back this to this list and even use it myself

um you know if I need something we got Fasteners uh HVAC insulation

Roofing security solar and then the most important is the tools section

these are all the tools that I have my toolbox I've got the rivnet adapter that's how I put all the rivets in the

van behind me for the uh virtual wagon system down here a little bit further we've got

the Milwaukee propex expansion tool that's the one for PEX a so I installed all the water system with that all the

hole saw sizes that I've used um I have purchased with these uh

and then this is the uh the next thing I put in is the first section

now they actually make this section small you can get the both bed panels in

this one allows it to be wide enough to sleep sideways

so you can put a clean short mattress in there you can remove this and if you get their

uh flip flippable mattress you can free up some space in the interior so

you say you were parked for a while and your refined with just taking this out to get some more room in the van you

could do that and it's only two screws so there's a screw on each side for each panel so two screws per panel

um all right Let's uh let me back up here

this last video is we're gonna go back up and we're gonna go to one of our previous uh some

content from our previous live stream in case you guys missed it kind of doing a subscriber special here today I want to thank everyone for the 1

all right as I'm pulling up the next photos and video ask us a question guys if you have any questions van related

building Vans anything about the Flatline vanco system that we're putting in

if you guys missed the other episode uh we talked about uh putting in or getting our Wheels powder coated so instead of

purchasing a whole new set of rims we went through and we've got our factory rims powder coated

and that was going to allow us to uh you know if you're a DIY wire this is a

great way to save money and then also increase the looks of your van

uh but I have to say that they came out really really nice

um there's been a bunch of questions on why did I get Gloss so there's a two-part process here you

can get your wheels painted uh with you know Automotive grade paint

that sort of thing um but the powder coat finish is a much stronger finish because it's a baked on

finish so what they do is they actually unmount the whole entire Rim they powder coat

the rim and then they bake it in an oven and that bakes on the Finish makes it really resilient however

to paint match it to the plastic hubs right here uh that was a challenge so to be able to

paint match this we decided to go with gloss on both of them and that allowed us to get a good

matching finish

also in that live stream I talk about uh how I put together or how I lifted up

the van going through the lift points to lift it up off the ground

I also talked about these uh jack stands from Harbor Freight they're really nice because they have these little triangle

feet so if you've ever used jack stands before you know that the feet can actually kind of dig into your

uh carport or in our case or epoxy floors and we don't want that to happen

so we put those down and that allowed this van to sit nicely didn't scratch anything up mess up the the epoxy was

really good as far as putting the wheel together um it will went on really easy if you do

paint your wheels uh be mindful that the inside diameter of the Hub you may have to sand it a

little bit just because the paint has added an additional thickness to the rim and it doesn't go on so easily I was

the powder coat was not too bad with uh my setup but that's just something to think about

and then what I did with the rim is uh these were all torqued down to 150

pound feet um or foot pounds and

there's two numbers it was like 148 and then 150 so I went with 150. but I did

have to get a bigger uh torque wrench so if you this is a

little Pro note if you're torquing down your wheels and you have a 150 pound torque wrench

that's the max rating what you want to do is you want to uh

you have to spend more money but you have to get the get one that goes up to 200 to 250 uh foot pounds because

when you're at the upper limit of that torque wrench and you're at your max limit of the torque wrench if you try to

push down on it you may not be getting an accurate 150 uh pound feet of torque

so um

foot pounds before anybody corrects me in the comments but anyway so imagine that this this is one that goes up to

250 foot-pounds but imagine this one was the smaller one

so if the Max on here is 150 foot-pounds what happens is

uh I have it's been known that they've not they don't give an accurate reading

because you've maxed out the limit so when I go here and you have the 150 ranges more in the middle

um it can be more it's more accurate uh if uh if you guys want to know that

and those are the manual ones I mean if you get a digital one I think that might be I have not used a digital one

um they're quite expensive I think the digital version of the 250 is around 250

250 bucks uh yeah so

let's maybe get you some more video here I'm waiting for some questions today

everyone's still probably at work here on the uh the East Coast so I might be here a couple more minutes

we'll try to do the stream up until around maybe 6 30 Eastern Standard Time

okay I'm trying to find this picture that I wanted to show you

uh where is this picture

all right so I'm not sure if we went over these pictures but since we're just kind of doing a long live stream today

we'll go through them so this is

the jack points that I had on the van so the van's completely off the ground

and let's see here we go this is way better

so I had to put the jack stand here for a couple reasons one you have the tire that's in

the way let me get my face out of the way

so on the right hand side you have the transits tire that's in the way so this this is mounted up right close to it now

remember when if you're putting bigger tires on you're going to want that to be a little more offset so you're safe and

you can put the wheel back on once you get a bigger size tire uh that would be pretty pretty bad

if you couldn't uh move the jacks down um one thing just to be very careful what is is where the brake lines are

I had to move them and they do get pinched if you're not paying attention

um I mean you really have to not be paying attention because I was pinched uh and then right here between this

barcode uh in the shock mount that is where I lifted it

um while we're here we also I also took down the uh

tight the rear tire carrier for the spare tire the new tires will not fit

underneath the spare tire carrier so you're gonna have to get a rear tire mount

and as soon as it becomes available I'm going to be getting the uh

Flatline vanco's version

let's go to exterior parts and there we go so there's a stock right now

but I really like this tire carrier it's very sleek and low profile I find

that ones from a luminous to be really bulky so I like how this one's just very

streamlined they've also came out with their rear door panel so this allows you to put

you know bike on also storage boxes let's see if they got

a picture of the storage nope they don't uh but it's nice that they actually have this offering

so we'll have to take uh with the take this off and I'm gonna try to figure out how to remove this cable without cutting

it off um we'll see

so that's the back of the van and then the front of the van let me see if I got a good there we go

so the front of the van technically the lift point is right here where my jack stand is

but this Frame member right here is also another jack point

but the issue was uh I can't reach this with if you had a

lift in a shop you can reach this with your feet of your hydraulic lift but I couldn't get to that so I come the

internet and I found that this uh bolt right here

um now this is what I did it's up to you if you want to do this

but this bolt right here is where I lifted so on a sprinter not a Ford

Transit on a sprinter they use this as a lift Jack point this bolt right there

so I use that and then I've rested this on this part right here

so if you guys have an opinion on that happy to uh read what you guys think about that in the comments

but yeah this would look like when everything was up and in the air in hindsight I probably should have gone

ahead and read it took the front bumper off and did the Ford Raptor thing

um I just was with the van being so heavy on floating above the air I did

not want to jerk and move and I didn't even work on the van while I was getting the tires

fixed I worked on something else

um yep so we did that and then

the next thing and I want to get you guys inside the

van here I'm gonna try to see if I can stay with me really quick I'm gonna see

if I can get this uh uh

I'm still here so just hold on a minute

yeah the one of the points of the stream was to walk you in the inside of the van so I got a camera back there I'm just making sure I got it uh connected

to check the audio

okay here we go let's get into the van all right we're working I can tell that we're working

it's on my phone all right guys so this is the inside of the van let me walk in here

all right so we're at the back of the van and uh so I just wanted to show you uh kind of what everything's looking

like so this right here

this is the 41 inch kitchen Galley so I'm going to go ahead and move this to

this location so you can see what it looks like and then we'll we'll talk more about what's in the back of the van

so this is actually going to come over here

got everything marked out

okay so that is where this is going to sit

and then below here will be the power system going towards the back

and then right here uh either right here is going to be the

gasoline heater or we're going to do it underneath the front seat

the only challenge is these seats up front um you guys will probably enjoy the

video on it they're both uh electric seats so there's a bunch of

additional wiring that's typically not in there I guess it poses as opposed to the

airbag wire and I need to find out if the swivel seat bases that I have I have one from

scopena scopima and it is we need to see if it can actually wire through the

seats um so if that works in their space I'd

actually like to do it up front and while we're on that let's hop back over on the computer

there is a face plate by ABC rig I think you guys will really like this

so I'm finding all these little cool things to uh

trim out a van I like things like like very professional looking

so if you go to ABC rig

um and go right here to accessories this is really cool find they have a uh a

trim piece for a Ford Transit so instead of having that kind of ugly uh slanted piece

this it would be your outlet for your heater and then you can find you can have a blank with no hole cut out right

hole cut out left hole cut out uh it just really cleans that up so I'm

pretty sure I will grab one of these if I put the heater

underneath the seat um the only reason I don't like putting

the heater on this side of the van is because you do have to cross over you do have to cross over the exhaust

system and there's a safe way to do it but you know

if you stay on the driver's side you can go directly from well here we'll hop in the van

if you stay on the driver's side you can directly go from the heater if it's

positioned here to the tank and then you bypass is having to go over

the exhaust so we might do it here anyway because when you're in the bed you know having

the Heat come up underneath the bed is really nice to have uh you're probably not trying to heat

the the front of the van but as you guys can see we have a lot of

room underneath the bed here and I'm gonna go ahead and tape measure I'll measure it again I know we said 42

inches I can't remember if that's exactly what I had on here

so right here 41 and a half and I want to actually come down I want

the bed to come down three and a half inches so

if we have 41 and a half and we want to come down one two three

and a half that's 38 so I think that's going to be perfect

I wanted to come down a little bit because when I'm sitting

oh this is gonna be fun doing this live I don't have any bolts in here

so I'm going to uh hop up here

um this right here you can sit up

but if I had three and a half more inches it'd be much more comfortable

I mean you essentially have to you know leaning back with some pillows I think that's more natural

thanks so much what you what you do in a bed if you're you're hanging out but this is usually the compromises you have

to think about because you know if you want your bike stored inside and you want to sit up in bed you know

what's your what's your sacrifice do you want your thousand plus dollars bikes to be safe or do you want to sit up in bed so

um yeah things to think about uh also the mattress thickness

you know how thick of a mattress are you you're working with

so that is another thing to think about if you go with let's hop on to Flatline

vanco uh that is

that let's look at their mattress thickness

so their mattress thickness is five inches

and uh yeah so these are all all the stuff that is really good to think about

you just want to make sure that

the measuring tape when you're building your DIY van is the most important you have to make sure that everything is

fitting just don't assume that you have an inch here or some more room here

so for example we have 34 inches so if we could add

you know two more inches 36 is is pretty reasonable for a height above bed

but remember even though we have 36 now we're going to have 30 if we have

a six inch mattress you know that sort of thing another thing while we're back here we

have the cabinets that are going over here so the reason I want to lower this as low as I can get it

um so let's see that is yeah about three and a half inches is where we're gonna go so we got the cabinets here

uh so while we're having fun playing around the van um

let me move my camera up

all right let's try to get back up here without

I should have bolted this don't try this at home

so uh what I wanted to talk about is say you're on your in your bed right

so we're in our bed and you have your feet over here so your feet are on top of your mattress

well remember you you're probably going to have some some sort of cabinet

going across the whole entire length of your uh your your bed I mean your van

we're doing 48 inch cabinets so we're going to do two of those

and then so this uh the cabinet is essentially going to

let's see here what is the cabinet height

all right so we're gonna go the cabinet uh I don't want to jump off here again

uh we need the adventure wagon

okay these cabinets

there we go okay so we got our 48 inch cabinets

they're 48 inches wide they're 15 inches tall by 13.75 deep

10.5 inches deep at the top 13 so 15 inches tall

so you have 15 inches tall why is that important well if you have

your cabinet up here let's just go to the back we have 15 inches so 15 inches is pretty much right here

about an inch above this lip so

I wear a size 11 and a half 12 sometime with these boots if we measure that

I've got three

I have three and a half inches I have three and a half inches between my boot

and the cabinet but guess what I don't have the mattress in here so from the tip of my boot

to the bottom of the mattress is three and a half inches so that's why I want to lower this three and a half inches so I get six

inches that way when I'm laying in bed my feet are not going to touch the

cabinets because that would be completely very uncomfortable so that's what I'm going to do

um the good thing about putting having your shoes on is you'll have a little bit

extra space so guess what we could make it even better so instead of doing a six inch

mattress if we did the five inch mattress from fightline vanco that is going to

give us an additional inch so we'll have one

we'll have an inch plus whatever so we could have up to one to three inches of space

because I'm assuming this boot here you know might be an inch or two so I got some wiggle room

but think ahead you know what you're going to store if what you're going to store is on a

slide out tray that's going to bring it even higher then the height of that item then the

base of your bed so like whatever frame is underneath your bed the nice thing about this is this is a whether it's an

inch and a quarter so this platform is an inch and a quarter thick

that's excellent there's there's no that that's uh thinner than any you

can't even do 80 20 that thin for this stretch and it's just the way they have this designed because it's not just bent

it's bent around and under I mean right now I'm just there's nothing bolted in just the four bolts

for the adventure wagon and this is very very sturdy

but you have your pull out tray you have your mountain bikes then you've got your bed system then you have your mattress

height then you have your feet then you have the distance between the top of your toe the base of the cabinet

and then you have the cabinet and if you just slap everything together you'll get in

bed and then you'll be hitting the cabinet and have to like turn it's not gonna so just think of think ahead is is

pretty much where I'm going with that um and you guys don't have any questions today we got seven people live we have

no questions I'm about to run out for what I have

planned today so uh get some questions I'll talk about this bed just a little bit more

um the other thing to talk about uh is you know do you want to sleep this way

uh the nice thing about a Ford Transit is from here to here

believe it or not you have 74 inches inside these little bump outs without

using flares so a lot of people like to build on the Ford Transit now mind you

that is with the adventure wagon upholstered panels and 3M one is a 3M thinsulate in between

these walls um

what's cool about this system I'm actually going to get down now uh what's cool about this system is

you have much longer you're going to come out to almost

six feet yeah six feet so 72 I think it's 72

I think it's designed to be 72 top to bottom

[Music] yeah so that's a little bit about the bed system we'll tilt the camera down we'll talk

about the floor of the van just give you guys a update on where I'm at with that then we'll come back to the computer

we'll see um I know I just saw that I'm still here give me a second

yeah that's I mean this that's what I'm here for is to kind of go through this stuff so you can see me do it and think

through my thought process that way um when you get a chance to do it uh you

can um you know be ready for it

uh but yeah if you have any questions Carmen ask away ask away

we're going to keep streaming here as uh as long as we can do I have to head out I do need to head

out by 6 30 so about 20 more minutes on the stream

um so I was talking about the bed so here's the bed the bed is 74 inches long so that frame is actually 74 inches long

um if you notice uh where is that

here so if you notice on the transit system the back frame is curved

so it curves to the doors so where most mattresses would stop where the square edges are you would have this curve

um okay so enough about bed systems I got the

camera back up good top back in the van

um see here

I'm going to try to be in Focus hopefully so we're here at the back of the van

and uh some other questions were why do they

go with a 40 gallon water tank seems like a lot um yeah it was it is it also depends on

where you go where are you going are you going to be somewhere where you can't get water or do you just want to fill up

and don't have to worry about getting water so with the 40 gallon you can kind of

think of this how much gray water can you store maybe under the sink something that's

convenient to be able to empty take out put back in or

you know um most people like to do just under the sink uh

under the sink gray water because it's by default kind of winterized It's Not

underneath the van exposed to the elements so that's another way to do it the quantity is limited underneath the

sink so that allows you to have smaller jugs it's easier to get an app dump you know the tanks

um so let's just say we had

uh two 10 gallon tanks or okay we got let's see what we got we got 14

uh we'll just do some simple math say you can have uh two Jerry cans well

they're actually seven sometimes what seven gallons was 14. so let's say you have 14 two seven

gallons and then you get the 16 but we're doing an undermount 16.

um so we got 20 30. so we got about 30 gallons of gray water

that we can store out of the 40 gallons

and then let's just say that 10 gallons we've been spraying stuff off in the back so that's kind of a good ratio is

you know do you have enough capacity to actually take a shower uh and you know wash them this year's

off and stuff like that are you going to segment it to where you have

the sink is one system by itself and then the undermount gray water tank is going to be for your shower so that's

what I'm doing in this van so the shower pan right here is going to go directly to the undermount 16 gallon tank so when

you take a shower um a household shower is like 2.5 gallons

per minute so you know in four minutes it's six gallons of water so you can kind of do

the math on that um uh

did I say that right 2.5 10 yeah 10 gallons

so um you gotta really think about conserving

your water in order to take a shower because underneath the van there's really not that much room at 16 gallons

is pretty good for the real estate that it occupies and gives you ground clearance you could

go with a deeper tank for your gray to have a longer shower but then your sacrificing your ground clearance you

guys have any ever seen the the Ram ProMaster Vans like the travados and the generator the water I mean this stuff is

really low to the ground I'm sure they scrape if they do anything remotely uh off-road

which I would not suggest but this is an all-wheel drive Ford Transit it's got the turbocharged engine

we got the BFG ko2s on here this is something that somebody's going to want to take places

and not have to worry about scraping and ripping their gray water tank off their

van so with all that in mind we have places to

put the water um but this is the odd reason that I got

this one so not only is this tank really nice because of how big it is

um because it has so much capacity it's a bigger tank that's obvious but if you notice back

behind here see if I can show this to you

back behind here is the the hot water tank this is nothing's permanent

but behind here is the hot water tank the profile of the hot water tank

is similar to this 40 gallon tank now why is that important well because

aesthetically I can take my 80 20 frame I can run it all the way down here

past the hot water tank and then end it where the kitchen Galley ends and I have

my water tank in this and I just have a nice clean line I don't have anything weird

um and then in the event that I need to access this I'll just have six screws I can take

them off and take the whole panel out and then do anything I need to here you know adjust the temperature that sort of

thing but this way when I build something it

can house something nice too it's a four gallon Bosch hot water heater it is corded

so what I'll do is actually have an outlet and I'll just plug it in right here so in the event that you wanted to take

this hot water heater out you could so just thinking about that you know if

this did fail a month or two on the road let's just say something crazy happened

you know how how easy would it be to get out you can take this panel off

unscrew this unplug it from the wall pull it right out very very simple so

you're making it be able to be worked on um but the water tank profile allows us

to have this big of a water tank but not have it bulge out to where making more complex angles with our 80 20 it's not

too high stuff like that um

I think about building my own Galley out v20 are you happy with your essential flight record

um okay so uh

let me uh here I'll go back that's a good question

okay guys Peter has an excellent question so his question is I was thinking about building my own Galley

out of 80 20. uh am I happy with my decision to go with the Flatline vanco Galley over

building my own so the Flatline vanco Galley is more of

a business decision for my van build company when I built Thomas's van his

van was 100 percent um

uh 80 20. uh so let me see if I'm gonna try to pull

up some photos here

um let's see here

let's see uh I'm trying to find the kitchen building

the kitchen Galley video

um this might be a good example we're talking about some stuff

so this is the this is the battery system that I built for for Thomas's van

and so the whole entire van is this same thing so imagine this is the kitchen Galley

um this I'm on my other compute live stream computer so I don't think I have the photos

um but this kitchen uh if you use 80 20

it's really nice because you're able to uh bolt it together just like Legos it's

extremely strong um the only thing is I would say cost

but then I have to kind of eat my own words because the Flatline vanco system is expensive so you would probably

actually still get ahead if you did

um you would still get a head on the kitchen Galley if you made it out of 80 20 yourself I think that would be

actually a it actually might be this would be a case to where it would be better

but the nice nice thing about 80 20 is you get really intricate I I need to

uh give me one second guys I'm gonna try to find

kitchen galley because this is I want to show you I want to show you the example because I think you'll really like the example

here I'll show you guys this really quick this is a we've not seen Thomas's van this is what his van looks like

yeah I'm gonna have all this stuff very organized so that you guys can see

oh I know where to go I know where to go all right we're gonna zoom in on this one really quick

so Peter if you're still here this uh kitchen galley you can see that we have uh

this is a piece of there's 80 20 directly behind this this beam

um that's just a Protection cover but then this other pieces of 80 20 you

can get smooth faced 80 20.

and the smooth face 80 20 is what you want for that uh that professional appearance so you can frame it out

and then what I did is I took black uh laminate so for mica

and then I got some hinges and I'm gonna actually pull up the

the van show really quick because the van show shows me going through and actually

building this I mean not building this but uh showcasing it

so

oh here's a good example of the Flatline vanco cabinets

all right almost there

trying to scrub through this there we go perfect perfect here we go here we go

so let's zoom in here boom okay perfect here we go

so Peter if you're still there this is how you can have a nice clean simple

cabinet so if you get a refrigerator that you want I my personal opinion

would be use that refrigerator as your reference to kind of build from and you can build out this whole entire cabinet

um you're going to build it in your van if you're gonna get the floor in just so you can figure out how it fits between the windows and stuff but essentially

this is just a frame uh the doors are framed out so on the

very left here this is actually a revised shelf pull out cabinet

um and I'm pretty sure that rev shaft pull out cabinet is available

on our DOI van build cheat sheet if you go over here go down to

uh where was it kitchen rev a shelf

um so how long so how long did it take to actually uh

how long to build 80 20 Galley that was tough because uh Peter I was jumping around to

different parts of the van um I was I was I actually in this van

build I built the kitchen Galley and the water system in kind of one go it was

all one piece like one big piece of furniture in the van um but I'll show you a little bit more

here so this right here this is the uh seven Galley seven Kush

seven gallon gray water tank behind it we have AO Smith tank hot

water tank from Lowe's it's a two and a half gallon tank it's a very slim and low profile

um then we got our water pump so you can see uh what I've done with 80 20.

here German Shepherd on it um this is normal 80 20. you kind of see how you have that type of

profile and then see this one this is the smooth face so you see how it's different

so you want to get the smooth face for the front of your cabinet so it's nice and clean

and technically if you did want to put some like etching primer on here and

then paint it with something you could um

and here I'm going to show you all right I got all kinds of good stuff here today let me back up

really nice story on how he kind of came to building his van

so it's a powerful story so be prepared but uh

he made this uh kitchen galley

he built this kitchen galley and this is kind of what I modeled it

off of and so this is uh his kitchen Galley and

you see he's got everything nice and clean and he got uh where is the photos

all right Peter you might like this it's a our Caravan k-a-r-a-v-a-n uh this is

his YouTube channel and you see right here believe it or not

this is that 80 20 frame and then he's just used bigger drawer faces it's a little bit of

a more tedious way to do it but the your the visual is really nice

so essentially uh he goes through and talks about the hardware he used used so

if I was going to build it again um I didn't do any drawers for Thomas's van but he shows you all the Blum

uh Parts kind of how he puts everything together and then he even shows you

uh like how he put the um the 80 20 in there I mean how do you put

the drawer slides and bolted them to the 80 20 like this see right here

and this will help you get a better idea of how to mount this

um because you're kind of going from like a woodworking you're going for woodworking parts and

trying to adapt it to an 80 20 frame which I think is the best thing you could do in a van

um

but then you can see here he's got these special pieces that allow him to snap on a drawer face

uh and that way that the drawer faces are uh they just kind of lock into place

anyway check out that video I think it's awesome

we could do as far as you know content questions about the Vans I did have a

gut feeling that the details about like the sleeping situation with your feet and the height from the cabinet uh just

all those little tiny nuances uh I know that's going to help because it's kind of like an afterthought

um and then the same thing like with the kitchen guide cabinets like Peter's question was excellent you know why am I

going with Flatline vanco versus just building 80 20 on my own um I want to have a little bit higher

production um capacity uh more than current and but I still

want to have the uh safety of the cabinets being bolted in but then had the Aesthetics of like

nice bamboo powder coated metal that kind of feeling in the van uh and I just I like how Flatline vanco

stuff is incorporates with my style or how I like the band look

um and now that I've gotten that I know the quality is on par

because we we're pretty much doing up almost all the exterior components and interior or Flatline

vanco um so I'd like to do more in the future so this is just a one uh this is a spec

build so there's not additional vans that are needing these these parts but I do want

to showcase this show it off as the options to have going

forward um speaking of going forward we talked

um yeah so this cabinet is not Flatline vanco it's a very low profile cabinet I will give you one more option

if you want something like Flatline vanco it is more expensive

vehicle Expo Stark Florida and there's this is more of an overlaying event however they do have

vans so if you're looking for products we have

backwood Adventure mods that are very popular um company amongst

van lifers or especially people who like to do off-road four-wheel drive 4x4 transits that type of thing

um because they have a very Sleek uh front bumper and not only is the one that they

currently have very nice and Sleek but this is their new one uh which they've done a lot of improvements on

the reason I like it is this Contour this is there's a natural Contour in the Ford Transit van right here and that

Contour is uh you can cut it out and it just it just

looks nice um so we do backward uh

Adventure mods uh we actually talked to Dometic and we look at some other

offerings that they have dometic's known for their fridges but I saw these little uh

battery powered water dispensers and they're so cool because they magnetize on the bottom and

then you can go and like put them on a table uh let's see if he does uh yeah look at

that see that's awesome you know just to do dishes outside and stuff like that

um super cool so we go from there we hop on over to uh

uh drawersystems.com and so uh this guy

very entertaining awesome two vehicles that he put together the one on the left

uh the one on the left he put um for a customer and then the one on the

right is uh a trailer that he uh modified it's really cool

driving to a trailhead you know there's all kinds of stuff packed jam-packed in this video so check

out of uh I think uh Kennesaw Georgia so outside of Atlanta

and they build these really excellent Vans uh they're very homey inside

you guys can see

and we'll talk about some more vendors

then if you guys are going into more like earth roamer type of stuff that's what you're into

grid.us so grid these vehicles Moxie vanco now

can sell these uh and bring these into the US so pretty awesome

they're just like a crazy off-road man so the inside you know

it's kind of van life-ish with the same type of like cabinets slotted ceilings that type of fill

but it does have a full wet bath in this one you know microwave

excellent storage big dinette table

humongous tires um yeah but check out this video uh

going through all these vendors it's just really cool to see the whole um

just just everything about the community because it's not just Vans you know there's a lot of products that Encompass

the whole Adventure Market um if you want something really fun you can kind of see that uh I went there

because I wanted to test ride this motorcycle [Music]

needed them so fuses electrical components electrical line cable

um you know DC to DC chargers for uh like

um yeah the batteries uh so let's just go through some categories and make it really easy so it has electrical

components on here you know Fasteners the Fastener section uh Peter you might

if you're still on here the faster section might be really good for you because this is everything that I needed

for the 80 20. um so all these different things right here these specific measurements of

socket head cap screws um

uh something that was also mentioned you can hit Ctrl F to find and search the

sheet that's actually a good good point um you know insulation uh stuff in the

kitchen like for example the induction cooktop this is the one that I I use I like

uh solar components and the most important tools the tools section is unbelievable this section

will I promise we'll help you because the rivnut gun that I needed to install

the adventure wagon kit it's in here the crimping tool it's in here for all of my

crimps that I had the pro pack expansion tool that I needed for the PEX a insulin

installation for the water system it's in here the hole saws I used it's in

here felt tape so that stuff wouldn't rattle right here it's on the list
