hey guys welcome back to live stream we are working on John and Susan's van and we are wrapping things up we are
0:58
installing the swivel seat back in the van and uh we're going to jump to it
1:03
that is what we left off um inside the van here we'll hop in if you guys are
1:09
watching the live stream earlier there's a tab right here and
1:14
what you need to do is make sure that you cut that Tab out um I'm trying to think where I put
1:23
it see if I can find off find the piece that I cut off so you got here we go
1:30
so you guys know what I'm talking about so there's this little piece sticks out and it it's got
1:38
to come off so that the uh back of the seat when it rotates it
1:43
does not run into it um I mean different seats are
1:49
different but it's better to get it away uh go ahead and get it out of the way um
1:55
when you have factory seats and then what you can do is you can
2:00
um yeah if you change seats you don't have to worry about cutting it off
2:05
later but yeah that uh that piece is knocked out um we used some satin paint um it's
2:13
pretty much close as you're going to match it um but you do want to paint over it and sand it up because you do
2:20
want it to look nice CU you will see this uh upon entering the van next uh we have our swivel seat um
2:29
this is not sponsored but we did get it from the swivel shop these are scopa seats or seats swivel seats and these
2:36
bases uh scopa made in France and um I'm not partial to any
2:43
seat I just uh I think these look really nice I think they're nice and low profile and um just all the stuff I've
2:51
read on the internet videos and stuff like that just like you guys you know watching YouTube and seeing people install them uh I think they're good uh
2:59
and and then I've installed uh two of these sets so I guess four in
3:06
total and um if you didn't watch the last video the only Quirk is the whole spacing is
3:13
slightly off on every Ford Transit doesn't matter if it's the driver or the passenger seat so you know
3:20
gently put these in and then kind of slowly you know hand tighten them down
3:26
before you get on them with a uh Allen socket and uh yeah you're pretty much ready to
3:32
go next we will take uh two things we're going to make sure that we have um oh
3:39
yeah you will use Loctite for these the base bolts uh you can use Loctite for these
3:47
however these have a serrated uh nut for locking and a Nylock
3:55
so I don't use the lock height up on the top surface for these
4:01
uh just the base um you'll want to before you install this base go ahead and pop it open you may have to bump it with like a
4:07
rubber mallet to unlock it uh it's the only way you're going to get these screws in easily so make sure you do
4:15
that next um you're going to want to make sure you have a halfin uh socket
4:22
ratchet half in socket with a ratchet and then you want to have a um/
4:28
in opening Ren wi uh this is for your seat controls so
4:36
this is the airbag safety stuff and then if you have electronic seat controls
4:42
this is where that comes through make sure you feed this through the center
4:48
first um I have not done that in a couple of installs and you have to take the whole
4:55
entire base plate off um one time I did it even when the seat was installed so
5:01
anyway so that's a little catchup of what we talked about in earlier today's stream so we're just going to get right
5:06
to it and uh put this in this is a s millimet for this
5:14
small hole we're going to lay this right down right there
5:20
um there is a nut sticking out of the bottom of the van you may want to snap
5:26
that back up on there usually I leave that off because uh it doesn't I don't know how much room of how much cable
5:34
play we need so I usually just leave that off um now we're going to have the plate
5:42
unlocked also if you missed the other video uh I was trying to get the van
5:48
outside and I installed the passenger seat on the driver's seat so so now um I
5:55
have the uh hold on a second checking my phone oh hey Daniel thanks for uh tuning in
6:02
glad to see you on here um but yeah this is the passenger seat
6:07
it's actually not the driver's seat and in the other stream we unbolted it so
6:13
now we're pretty much just going to take it and we are going
6:19
to unplug that control I've already loosened it and then we're just going
6:27
to gently move it over here um we will rearrange it here in just a
6:34
second it's going to lightly put it on the
6:41
base okay and then same with this you want to make sure that the sliding uh
6:48
the adjustment mechanism for forward and back is locked into position you don't want it to be loose
6:57
uh that's going to give you a bunch of problem uh one being that that looseness is
7:05
going to allow the tracks move in different directions and it's almost impossible to
7:12
install the seat so just go ahead and get the tracks locked in uh put the
7:19
tracks in the middle of the seat so that you can thumb the nuts
7:26
on uh you'll have so you have clearance to the thumb the nut nuts on if the seat is moved too far
7:32
forward you're going to get to the back nuts easily but you the front ones are going to be a pain in the
7:38
butt so do that
7:44
um and then same thing I just do one side at a time and go real gently here we don't
7:51
want to scrape and Mar up our freshly powdercoated swivel seat
8:04
so take your
8:12
time um another thing we installed
8:18
was uh the new version of The Lagoon table Mount so there's a slim lowprofile
8:28
Mount and uh it's not sponsored but I found it on
8:34
[Music] um oh man now I'm G to forget where I found
8:40
it um yep I forgot I have to go look on the computer
8:47
anyway I don't know if you guys can see it but right here it's a slim Mount uh I mean it's
8:56
a it's a quarter of what the normal Mount would look like
9:06
um we are also going to be working on that today not in this live stream but tonight I'm going to be cutting out the
9:13
panel for the back of the kitchen Galley so probably fingers cross get to
9:22
show you that tomorrow
9:34
and again I've got everything in here just
9:50
fingertight the upper holes are better but the base plate holes are not they're
9:57
just I feel like it's more it's more Ford than go
10:03
Pima I don't know it could be wrong maybe it's maybe just maybe it's both
10:39
but the washer you're going to want to put on top of the track with the the lines like the serated part of the
10:45
washer going up and then the Nylock nut on top so you
10:52
don't want to put those on the bottom because we need that clearance so that the seat can operate
11:10
and as soon as we get over the driver's seat there's a couple of things that I had to modify in order for this swivel to fit
11:17
to the base cuz the these swivels uh they don't since they're low profile if
11:22
you want the low profil of the swivel which everybody wants a swivel but you
11:28
know they don't want to sacrif spice the height um so the nice thing about these
11:37
is they uh they're pretty low profile but what
11:44
that means is the seat base you have to modify and this time when I say modify I
11:51
mean you need to cut so the
11:56
uh the battery box box strap I don't know if it's more of a
12:02
strap it's like a it's like a metal stamp sheet metal bar that uh it's
12:08
almost like a tie down for the the batteries so that's got to go away I don't make it go all the way what
12:16
I do is I cut it so I can retain the carpet so I make it so I can retain this
12:22
carpet just for visual purposes so I cut it about right here um
12:30
so when I get over there I'll show you I'll show you the piece I'm talking
12:39
about and as always if you guys have any questions you can ask me in the
12:44
chat um love for you guys to check out van Builder HQ website so on the
12:51
website uh we've got a lot of blog posts
12:56
where um I break down and detail some of the different aspects of a van whether
13:03
it's Cabinetry solar powder Power
13:08
um you know refrigerators uh 12vt air conditioners kind of a deep dive on
13:15
those subjects and then as always the DIY van
13:22
build sheet sheet it's great place to start it's a free Excel sheet that I put
13:28
together and it's basically the last three years of all of
13:33
my Amazon purchases for the shop organized in an Excel sheet and
13:39
great way to get your kick started on thinking about van parts or referencing
13:45
van parts and it's completely free you just go to vanb hq.com or click on the link
13:51
in the description below and if you guys are like
14:01
John and Susan who are looking for somebody to build them a custom van like this um you can visit me in my business
14:07
which is Odyssey custom vans um that's how they uh are working
14:12
through me with Odyssey custom vans and we're building them a custom Adventure
14:17
van and uh yeah go to the website there's a consultation link where you can schedule a consultation with me
14:24
right over the phone and we'll talk about your project um okay so check
14:31
check now we will take our cable
14:38
here and we will uh get this thing
14:53
installed I get this in the right orientation
16:02
and if you guys can believe it when I'm was chatting with you about not getting that cable in the right
16:09
position I actually got it in the wrong position so I got
16:16
to I got to loosen all these up
16:22
so I'm trying to see if I can just loosen them and then pull the cable all right so you can learn from
16:29
from My Little M little mistake here there's a little steel bar that P will
16:36
pinch the controls cable so
16:41
close oh we did it okay heck yeah now I do not have to remove the whole seat
16:50
excellent yeah it just gets pinched there's just this little steel
16:56
bar um it's just like a track support
17:03
bar and if you accidentally let the cable get underneath
17:12
there it just it won't give you the slack that you need for the whole entire seat to
17:17
twist um and in some
17:23
cases it will cut the that wire over time with
17:30
you swiveling back and forth so make sure you take care of it
17:38
now so you don't have to worry about it
17:46
later um if you can get a slim line wrench that would be nice cuz you saw me
17:52
shaking the seat it's just the wrench getting caught but it like like
17:59
this the one with the two sides there
18:09
a H5 this is a 7
18:17
mm I don't know where I forgot where I got this but um you it's just you just
18:23
need an allen wrench but this one is actually more specific okay we're doing
18:28
good we got our cable right here um so we're going to plug that in
18:35
and then once you plug it in you have to use this
18:40
uh 7 mm to uh actually screw in and make the
18:47
connection
19:01
okay once you've done that just check and make sure that everything spins
19:09
freely um this seat you can unlock and move it back but it does bump
19:17
into here so you know obviously you need to twist
19:23
it and then the red knob at the front is how you disengage it to Swit swivel
19:37
again so just make sure this thing
19:56
is locked in place and not
20:02
moving okay that is good there so we're still working inside the van so we're
20:08
going to just going to keep this forward all
20:15
right but you guys are going to want to see this swivel so we'll move it back um so next let's
20:24
go in here and let's finish putting our seat
20:29
belt in
21:14
okay I don't think we need any type of special thing for this
22:15
let going move the camera so you guys can see what I'm working
22:26
on oh gosh I just saw that Daniel I didn't know you yeah be careful when
22:32
you're working on the
22:37
van okay so we're putting the base in as well as this side
22:43
piece uh so we repulser this whole side so that's a nice extra to do in a
22:51
van just gives you a nice more polished look other than the painted um a lot of
22:57
people leave it painted but uh if you're going to do the bottom you might as well come up here and do the
23:03
top um I'm just making sure that I got this order right so there is a bolt that I
23:12
need to go get into place
23:18
here okay so that's good that's actually going to hold that up
23:25
there um the
23:33
bolt um and if you can keep all of your everything you use in the van just
23:39
just make sure you got it up here the front all right let's use this
23:52
bolt nope that's not it this one is a
24:01
this one is a threaded
24:17
bolt think this is too big
24:39
there we go
25:29
now I'm looking for the uh tool kit that I was using underneath the
25:36
van there we go let's
25:45
see so this is also a 7 mm and you're going to need some
25:53
wild screw attachment
25:59
you don't have to but I don't want to I've already got these plastic pieces in place so
26:30
now don't forget that the seat belt goes over this top uh light plastic and then
26:35
the darker plastic on the bottom it goes
26:41
behind behind it so
26:49
go this has one of these uh I call them terrible Clips it's a it's for some
26:55
reason it's a clip that it's not meant to be taken back out so it usually breaks off and you have to rebend it um
27:03
I mean obviously I've already I haven't broke it but I I pulled it out and had to reform it back together this one is
27:09
one where once you have it in um you're not really going to make changes easily after that
27:18
so again just take your time lining everything up these snaps make sure you didn't
27:25
forget anything and then at the same time I'm taking my hand on the right side and I'm pulling the uh trim
27:34
back so that when it snaps in it's uh good to
27:48
go so I
27:54
think somehow that's got to come up higher there we
28:05
go yeah Plastics are a pain because you don't want to kind of have to forcefully snap them
28:11
in but you don't want to break them
28:17
um so it looks to me that I need this to go up just a little
28:24
bit more so I'm going loosen the screw
28:39
see if I can get that plastic up just just to
28:54
here that's probably why I got all this
29:01
[Applause] rubber okay
29:42
okay here we go all right that's that's in
29:48
there okay Bottom's good side's
29:55
good just get a quick wipe down
30:08
I'm just kind of spot cleaning as I go so I don't have to do the whole
30:13
van when I when I get done here
30:29
okay next we are going to put the seat belts in so this first one going to come
30:34
up and over and this one is let's make sure
30:41
this is a t50 so this is a big half inch wrench uh ratchet we're
30:48
using um for this one seat down
31:09
we just want to start these by hand make sure
31:19
they're uh now this already has pre-installed Loctite on it
31:40
okay and then don't close this
31:46
because this cover goes up underneath this like that
32:26
okay so now this be careful this can break off easily but you just need to
32:32
make sure that the adjustment option is good and you
32:37
can see here I use masking tape to hold my Bolt
33:14
so that one the ltip was uh good so they they have a a pre-installed dab on there
33:21
this one uh it's kind of cleaned itself off so we're going to go ahead and add
33:27
more and this is going to go in the other
33:42
side that's another thing to remember if you use Loctite and you have to disassemble something usually that's
33:48
going to be uh uh fully removed typically um okay now this one
33:56
what you're going to do is this belt goes can you guys see what I'm doing let me check
34:05
the video
34:11
here so the where the back of the seat
34:16
folds down you want to take this seat belt and you want to go inside but make sure you take your seat
34:24
belt and the this bottom piece of plastic and keep it on
34:29
top and then Loop it through and then you're going to come in
34:36
here and we're going to go ahead and tighten that
34:43
up um so we're going to swivel our seat which is convenient because we need to
34:50
uh access this
34:56
bolt again now this one has a positioning
35:03
tab so when you put the seat build in on the right side you're going to make sure you locate that positioning
35:10
tab it rotates It Forward about 45° and you're going to want
35:16
to make sure that that goes in there uh do not tighten it
35:24
because uh on top of it without adjusting that or you'll pinch that uh locating
35:37
pin um okay then once you do that you can go ahead and just
35:44
test just test the operation of the seat
35:52
belt uh and then finally you're going to have these uh this plastic side
36:10
covers so this is the passenger one and this is the driver
36:26
side
36:56
for
37:26
for
37:56
for for
38:54
all right so it looks like 30 pound feet is
39:01
our uh torque setting so I just wanted to pop that in there I'm sure I'm right
39:07
there at it yep I'm already there so but we'll just double check
39:13
this one so let me see if I can take this off
39:21
without breaking it
39:26
okay so we've got
39:37
35 so 35 foot- pounds and that is what we're going to
39:43
do and for your purist out there I'll even take the extension
39:53
off just can get here so we're right
40:08
there okay 35 foot- PBS seat
40:14
belts so I'll leave that in the van so we can do the rest of them the same
40:21
way now don't quote me on that you do your own research
40:26
online but that's what I set mind to
40:43
to technically it's 40 Newton meters but that's uh pound feet is that's that is
40:50
relative all right plastic is done let's spray some more cleaner
40:57
over
41:18
here all right finally driver's seat man it is taking
41:23
forever to get to the driver's seat today
41:35
by the way when you guys were away the um I installed the running board and
41:42
then I also finished plumbing the Webasto exhaust
41:47
pipe so it is now integrated into the running board um that doesn't mean that
41:55
it's gone to melt or make the running board hot uh I may show a picture of it
42:02
in the future but essentially what I have is a I have a 3in stainless steel
42:09
bolt that is coming down from the step
42:14
and then I've used two lock nuts to adjust an offset for the exhaust so
42:22
nothing is actually touching it is just
42:33
um yeah it's not touching it is
42:38
offset same thing for the muffler you're going to make sure you want the muffler offset underneath your
42:44
van and then not only with the muffler but um so so one thing I did
42:53
is uh I don't I didn't see any of this in the the manual or I've never seen
42:58
anybody talk about it online but you had that exhaust pipe really close to the fuel Inlet on the
43:05
pump and so the way that I did it was to make sure that let's just say you had a
43:12
drip a leak um you you just don't want that drip to
43:20
drip onto the exhaust so I've got the exhaust offset
43:28
like two it's probably two or three inches um just in the event that that
43:34
may happen but if you're running you're running any type of
43:40
diesel or gasoline heater you know just keep a you just
43:45
need to keep a small fire extinguisher with you um cuz you never know what could happen
43:52
you'll be driving on the highway um maybe a stick come up up in your van so that's really something
44:00
uh that's kind of like a personal to-do list for a van owner is to just um every
44:09
now and then just check it um I read some excellent advice uh the other day on the online
44:18
where you need to run your rasto uh once a month for 20 minutes
44:25
regardless of I mean if you're obviously if you're using it
44:32
then you know you won't have to do that but if you're not using it even in the
44:37
summertime you need to run it for 20 minutes once a
44:43
month um that's just what I read in a in a
44:50
video so okay finally moving on to driver seat seat
44:57
now for the driver's seat I did a no no and I slid the seat forward before I took it off the
45:04
van so not a big deal but it will make it harder for me
45:10
to get these bolts in here and the back
45:24
side um another thing I did over here is uh I tried to keep the battery
45:32
cover so what I did was I ho sold out a
45:37
hole in the
45:43
uh plastic cover and what that's going to allow me to do
45:49
is bring that wiring up for the swivel part of the seat um man
45:57
as soon as I'm talking to you guys I almost did it again this is what I'm talking about take this pull it up to the top over
46:05
that bar don't talk to on camera and then ignore this again take it up bring it
46:13
above that adjustment wire and just uh yeah make sure it doesn't go
46:20
underneath yeah that's just that is a pain to go back and fix that
46:30
okay I'm going to shift spots now that I have that that bolt in
47:06
um I also went ahead and uh so I had originally purchased
47:12
this van for a shot build um and then uh John John and Susan
47:17
got it um but in between that time the battery had died multiple times because
47:24
I I didn't have a battery tender on it so one thing I did was I took care of
47:30
getting a brand new battery for them in this van and I upgraded it from a uh
47:37
lead acid battery to a AGM
47:43
battery um and that should
47:53
uh just make a nice you want to nice foundation for a new power system you
48:00
don't want to have all these weird errors and just funny things happening
48:05
to you because you tried to you know cheap out on a now if you can't afford a
48:12
battery and you're trying to keep one going I completely got that but if you have the opportunity to put a new
48:18
battery in when you put a new power system in your van especially if you're uh doing alternator
48:25
charging um it because if you don't have a new
48:30
battery and you have a worn out battery it's just going to it's not going to charge properly uh I mean you might get
48:37
away for it with it for a little bit but uh it's just not going to charge and
48:43
discharge properly and you might have some kind of false errors that don't
48:52
really explain themselves down the road okay so here's where I messed up see I
48:58
got the seat pulled forward so now I got to move it
49:06
back okay maybe I can do way with that
52:20
[Music]
52:25
[Music]
52:36
didn't realize I probably messing the mic up
52:45
here okay over here almost there two more in the back we're done
53:42
if you want to move the seat to make it easier to get to these bolts you can do that um I'm when I say keep it in the
53:49
center I'm mainly talking about when you first put the seat in um
53:57
that's what I would do uh so now we're going to take our
54:02
controls make sure that wire is free we can reach over and grab
54:10
our socket
54:35
okay that's all good now let's grab our piece of
54:49
plastic oh yeah let's get our let get our seat belt in here
55:18
okay that one I already did oh I did okay this is the one I didn't do okay so remember this one so all the
55:26
Loctite has pretty much been rubbed off so we need to
55:42
reapply Twerk it down to 35 foot- PB
56:16
now when we put this back in remember there's it uh this is indicator tab see
56:22
this it's got to go into its uh the indicator indicator tab has to go into
56:27
its hole so you got to rotate it forward and then it'll go in the hole so both of them go towards the
56:35
front of the van it is not the circle hole it is the rectangle hole
57:02
okay got our torque wrench
57:11
out there you
57:16
go finally well first let's make sure the seat belt
57:23
works and we'll come in here the plastic cover on now the plastic
57:31
cover you got to go up and then straight down it doesn't pop in from the
57:37
side and if you lift the handle up it'll make it much
57:47
easier there you go now when you undo your seat belt
57:57
um and then this spins around Ford is famously know for having to open the
58:03
passenger door to rotate swivel your seat but also on the driver side I have the steering wheel all the way
58:08
compressed you can see here you're going to need to spin it push it
58:16
forward like that and then spin it
58:22
around so that's going to that's how it's going to be like that for you and
58:28
then take it here so don't go all the way back because you want enough
58:34
room so that you can uh recline the seat like that and I
58:42
go straight back because there's a the fabric can move over the steering
58:47
wheel whereas if you turn it and try to go that
58:52
direction which you know you can if you're trying to talk to somebody um that'll still be in the way
58:59
of the steering wheel and then you can just take your seat belt and then just pull it down here to the side kind
59:06
of out out of your way or even underneath the uh the
59:12
armrest but yeah you just kind of have to deal with that seat belt just like
59:18
that just don't pinch the seat belt to where you uh you can't get it out
59:37
so something like that
59:44
okay so that is both swivel seats installed
59:56
all right let's keep doing our kind of clean as we go um I do need to pop in
1:00:02
the front of the van and I got a GPS sensor for the wolf
1:00:09
box and I've just been holding off on that cuz I it's not really a major important
1:00:15
thing but um we're actually close to the end
1:00:22
so might as well find a place for it
1:00:34
so we installed a wolf box into this van let me move the
1:00:50
camera all right um so this whole box up here
1:00:56
on a Ford Transit is pretty you can't see that let's move
1:01:06
this how's that
1:01:11
H that's G to look weird um
1:01:27
see whatever you can do to get it off the camera all right maybe that looks better I'm not sure so we got a wolf box
1:01:35
camera um and there's a GPS sensor that goes with it and we just need
1:01:41
to put it in the van um Thomas had his installed right here
1:01:47
so uh I just need to make sure
1:01:52
that the person that installed his was thinking about all these other
1:01:59
wires um I'm really big on you know when I put when I build something
1:02:06
it's can you take it apart so for example if we put that up here and glued it this cover might not be able to come
1:02:15
off so
1:02:27
and all this plastic in here man it's so
1:02:42
brutal okay so that's our one of our microphone cables we want
1:02:48
to make sure it doesn't get messed up okay so that looks good
1:03:00
okay so that is back in its home
1:03:05
position now this one of these other ones is a charging cable I mean is is a
1:03:10
reverse camera cable so I need to make sure that
1:03:17
doesn't get pinched oh I just see here this is not
1:03:27
we missed a
1:03:33
snap
1:03:41
okay that's secure
1:03:56
[Music]
1:04:07
man I'm telling you guys this stuff is so it's so tight like got Maze of
1:04:21
cables what I'm trying to do is I'm trying to feed our video feed
1:04:31
Cable in the back here but I'm trying to do it
1:04:37
without cuz when the clamshell closes back if I had it in the old position
1:04:42
it's just going to cut the wire we don't want that
1:04:57
all right let me check on the camera I'm going to be here for a minute so let me let's get the camera zoomed in or
1:05:05
something
1:05:15
different you guys get to see all my writing gear all my motorcycle gear is
1:05:21
just piled up here in front
1:05:28
there we go there it's halfway
1:05:34
organized um all right where is
1:06:00
I need something to grab the wire there you go well it's not going to
1:06:20
work I think we'll just do it old school
1:06:27
[Music] all right perfect we got it we got the wire
1:06:32
excellent okay now question is do we still have enough slack to plug it
1:06:39
in yep okay good um next we've got now we can get
1:06:46
the GPS in here so we need to put it somewhere where we
1:06:51
can hide the cable but
1:06:57
still take the cover off so I think we can go right
1:07:08
here think we go right here and then still
1:07:25
[Music]
1:07:54
all right so I'm going to clean it off I'm going to mount it there and I think we'll be good
1:08:58
so now we just got to make sure that we can stuff this excess in
1:09:06
here that'll
1:09:18
all that's a retie this in a
1:09:24
second
1:09:54
for for
1:11:10
come on
1:11:45
get you guys a better view guess this
1:11:52
is not a good view for
1:12:51
there we go
1:12:57
all right so what we're doing this is wolfb uh rear view dash cam um so it's
1:13:03
actually a review mirror and a screen which really cool so power is the first power so that is connected to the
1:13:09
ignition so that when you turn it on this power is on that way it doesn't drain your battery when you're out of
1:13:15
the car second one is the uh rear camera so that's actually wired all the way
1:13:22
from the back door all the way to the front of the van that's a really good thing to do in the very beginning it's
1:13:28
almost impossible if you try to do it right now um you will need a double extension
1:13:34
cable for the Ford Transit the extension cable is not long enough um next we have
1:13:43
the well I guess finally we have this GPS cable
1:13:49
um and I don't it's not that important it's uh I think it's mainly for
1:13:56
if you want to do the speed feature or something like that um uh but as far as dash cam goes I'm
1:14:03
not sure because uh I've driven Thomas's van a bunch and
1:14:10
um yeah Thomas you can definitely comment if you're watching if you use the GPS feature or
1:14:16
not but in his van I just mainly use it so I could see people behind me when I'm driving so this is a live video feed of
1:14:24
people behind behind you just like it would be a rearview what you would see in a rear viw mirror it's pretty
1:14:30
wild um but now that we got that set we can
1:14:37
wrap this up
1:14:44
literally um and we can stuff these wires in the
1:14:51
top of the housing and there's that's pretty much it there's is not any more room for anything else in this
1:15:00
van let's see if we can get this in here um CU it heads up uh if you crack
1:15:09
your windshield uh just in the future just
1:15:14
friendly heads up this whole circuit board and everything in the front of the Ford
1:15:20
Transit um you'll need to remove your wolf box before glass guy comes
1:15:26
don't I would not assume that they're going to connect it back
1:15:32
properly uh so you would need to remove this and uh which is funny enough um
1:15:40
Thomas' van came into the shop because we he did have a rock crack so that's how I know about what I'm about to say
1:15:47
this whole entire windshield this whole circuit board comes manufactured to the Ford Transit glass so the all the bits
1:15:56
pieces the radar all like uh I don't know what's in here um there's a it's like a whole computer almost this right
1:16:04
here has nothing to do with this just a heads up um I just happen to find a factory
1:16:11
for Transit uh mirror mount to mount this to I I just wanted to make it look
1:16:18
Factory um but this all has to be this all goes away with the old glass and a
1:16:23
brand new one comes in with a new glass there's not an easy way to change this over if you do crack your glass so
1:16:30
just um you know be prepared for that or have somebody um that you can take it to to have this
1:16:39
reinstalled if you're not comfortable plugging all this back in yourself you'll have to rewire all the
1:16:47
wires um and all that fun stuff so just uh again yeah just be prepared to do all
1:16:56
that um yeah feeling good about the wire
1:17:01
placement I do have some stuff over here on the left side that
1:17:07
is coming out of the ceiling um
1:17:12
so I've got that tide put up there pretty well so that must have just been
1:17:19
a little I must have adjusted it oddly anyway now we're ready to put in our
1:17:25
cover so we left enough space right here
1:17:30
and we need to really make sure that this uh cover with a hole goes over the
1:17:35
pin so that's the that is going to keep it from falling backwards and then again in the
1:17:42
bottom really make sure you don't pinch these wires you cut these
1:17:47
wires um I might be able to salvage it but uh as a DI wire you'll probably have
1:17:54
to rerun a whole new set of cables got one got a little cable sticking out
1:18:00
there that's
1:18:07
funny how did that thing get up there get back up
1:18:15
there um there is a SD card in
1:18:20
here and uh comes with these rubber bands in the back that hold it so you
1:18:27
can take this off with these two rubber bands um fairly easy so I'll just show
1:18:37
you okay so you got two rubber bands see if you guys can see that and so I have a
1:18:43
Ford Transit Factory rear view mirror um and
1:18:50
then okay so now it turns on I think it's also a theft thing where this is
1:18:55
not supposed to turn on it is battery powered but I think it notices that I'm trying to take it off without the key
1:19:02
ignition so if it's that smart that's really really cool if that's just a fluke like
1:19:08
I hit the power or something like that put the plut plugging the cable back in
1:19:13
I don't think so um but yeah it's uh it's recording me right now um just doing all this stuff
1:19:21
here so I think that is a pretty sure it's a
1:19:28
tamper resistant thing could be making the whole thing up anyway here's the screen you got it's already recording up
1:19:36
here um now that we plugged in the GPS model we have our Direction and miles per
1:19:42
hour um we double click we got our menu functions we're going to make it stop
1:19:50
recording uh if you swipe it does a wide view so the stuff in front of you if you
1:19:56
swipe again it's going to do front view and
1:20:01
rear view at the same time and if you swipe uh one more time you're just going
1:20:08
to get the rearview cameras that's just like you would have a normal rear view now we mounted this one to the bottom
1:20:15
because we also have the Ford F Ford Transit stock camera um so that's wired into our Dyan
1:20:23
Dash uh a lot of fancy things we'll go over that on the full tour um I've got to get
1:20:29
back to work but that was a yeah fun video for you guys today I know I haven't been trying to catch up on some
1:20:36
live streams get you guys to uh see what's going on in the channel
1:20:41
um yeah that is uh pretty much all we got for the video let me hop on the
1:20:48
computer do a little bit of a sign off
1:20:58
all right guys thanks so much for watching this live stream uh stay tuned for the next one um make sure you guys
1:21:03
are subscribed hit that notification Bell I go live at random times throughout the week and probably more often now that we are finishing this van
1:21:10
up um that's going to do it for the seat install the final setup for the
1:21:17
uh wolf box and um seat belts Plastics all that good stuff next we'll be moving
1:21:24
into the back of the van so essentially what I did was today everything from
1:21:29
here forward is finished so we've got the new battery installed we got the dyin installed we got the two swivel
1:21:36
seats installed the wolf box cameras to taken care of it's got the GPS setup um
1:21:42
yeah so everything from here forward including the Webasto uh heater and the plumbing I
1:21:48
mean the piping for the exhaust and intake is taken care of the running board over here is installed
1:21:56
and it actually goes from right here all the way over here and uh so JN and Susan
1:22:03
it is it's pretty low it's pretty low profile so the bonus is man it is so I
1:22:10
mean it's just like it's like an escalator getting in it's so smooth um
1:22:16
yeah very nice uh very strong um just
1:22:22
heads up you going to Parks or anything like that that uh that clearance right here is
1:22:30
um you know speed bump stuff like that it's not that aggressive but uh I'll
1:22:36
give you a measurement so from the bracket to the ground is
1:22:44
uh uh with a van loaded it'll probably be about 6 and a half in
1:22:49
clearance and then your Webasto exhaust is 6 in of clearance from the ground so
1:22:56
just to keep in mind um when you're driving you know don't
1:23:02
don't go don't go off-road and go crazy because uh uh but it does make an amaz
1:23:09
it's it's very easy to get in extremely easy I mean it does exactly
1:23:14
what we planned it to do so um yeah so that's in there next we're
1:23:23
going to be moving in or backing up uh so I'm I've already got this board
1:23:30
pre-measured um the only technical thing that has to be done which is not hard is
1:23:36
this is the outdoor outlet so we've already got the wire Ren and all that stuff all we got to do is cut the hole
1:23:42
in the board put the outlet here and uh we can check that off the
1:23:49
list um yeah so tonight I'll probably cut this board out
1:23:55
tonight uh because I'll need to treat it
1:24:02
um get it taken care of paint it sand it all that good stuff
1:24:10
uh the Water Systems working great um
1:24:15
I'm going do one more pressure test since I put the new valves in the
1:24:22
back fridge is installed microwaves installed the lighting interior lighting
1:24:28
front and rear zones work great both of them you know dim um oh
1:24:34
yeah that L
1:24:40
bracket I have I have one this L bracket I'm going to do it before the
1:24:47
live stream's over because this thing has been on my checklist for like two weeks
1:24:57
that's the thing with a van if you if you don't finish one something in the van 100% you'll tend
1:25:03
to it'll go to the very back of your mine and then it won't um it won't get
1:25:10
done
1:25:24
and also if anybody is new to the channel and they're wondering about this crazy production here uh I essentially
1:25:33
just film live straight I'm recording this to my computer and uh that way in
1:25:38
the you know I can go back in time record it or look at what I did and uh maybe kind of put that into like a
1:25:44
little Montage for you guys but it's really just live stream to stay open and then if you guys have questions while
1:25:50
I'm just kind of working on the van or something like that
1:25:55
um I can hop over see it on the computer and then you guys can
1:26:04
uh uh ask me the question uh let's see let me bring this
1:26:10
back into the over
1:26:21
here I feel like during the day it's just like I film for a couple hours and I grab some food and I go film for a
1:26:27
couple hours and grab some food it's kind of like the the theme of the day it's kind of
1:26:34
funny you go to got to eat to have energy all right let me set this camera
1:26:41
up that way you guys can because I know some of you haven't you haven't even seen this at
1:26:46
all so let's redo
1:26:52
our our lighting in
1:26:59
here okay 10 more minutes of the live stream so this would be great in case you guys have
1:27:06
questions you can ask them um you may want to ask them about
1:27:12
this so this is the toilet box um we call it the trolino
1:27:19
box it's also uh it's a jump seat it's
1:27:26
uh storage as well and um I've got to come in here
1:27:33
with uh some more uh cork pads cu the
1:27:42
uh that new paint is a like a satin finish man for whatever reason it kind
1:27:48
of sticks a little bit anyway you can see we've got a custom closure for the
1:27:55
trolino so this allows you to in the middle of the night or during the trip
1:28:00
get in here sit down very comfortable this is recessed around here so your legs are not going to hit this
1:28:08
angle this just St stays open by itself um there's tons of room in here
1:28:15
let me show you I mean there so much room so this will take out
1:28:24
and then this is what I did not finish so I had
1:28:29
a bracket here now this bracket I needed to be right there so that this doesn't
1:28:36
uh vibrate rattle or move now the issue was uh this does not taper the toilet
1:28:45
doesn't taper aggressively enough to not hit
1:28:51
these uh it just wasn't the right it wasn't right
1:28:57
so I only do things the right way and that's why we're putting a low profile
1:29:03
little bracket in
1:29:11
here and uh the rest of the van I know I talk to you guys a lot about safety so
1:29:18
the rest of the van is really bolted to um the frame whether it's either it's
1:29:25
either uh it's either riveted or or
1:29:30
whatnot so this on this Edge I don't like drilling stuff directly into the
1:29:36
floor but for this you know this is not kind of a make or break item so this
1:29:42
one is drilled into the floor um there's there's really no cavity back here this
1:29:50
is open so where this is there's not a good place to mount it to the frame of the van um and I don't want to drill
1:29:59
into here for my drawers and this plus this is basically just a you know just a
1:30:04
box um so we have this mounted to the floor
1:30:11
and we do have a bracket holding it to this on the back I did I did add
1:30:20
that but what I'm doing here is I don't want this uh I'm actually going to sit on this while
1:30:26
I do this I just don't want this Mak any noise while on the
1:30:37
road so now man this is solid
1:30:44
solid before drill any more holes double check your work make sure the fix that
1:30:49
you wanted to be a fix is a fix and not a not the same thing you started with okay
1:30:55
see super flush doesn't touch the
1:31:01
bracket all right so that's good to go so we're going to add two more screws just
1:31:08
for because we want to
1:31:27
right all right when you can shake the whole entire van you did it
1:31:32
right okay um what else did I want to do
1:31:38
here I think that was it so this is guys this is huge like this just space just
1:31:44
going to stand inside here the space over here on the left hand side I mean you can
1:31:50
put you can put uh see three six rolls of toilet
1:31:57
paper um I also designed
1:32:02
it to wear a piece I'm G I'm going to show you guys on the live stream that's
1:32:08
what we
1:32:17
do all right so if you guys had
1:32:34
okay we got two two examples here so if you
1:32:42
had toilet paper roll fits in here all the way
1:32:49
down and then so you could fit maybe 1 2 3 you can definitely put three stacked
1:32:56
so this is a toilet paper roll so look at this you have a toilet paper roll and you can't do both but you kind of
1:33:04
get my point there's a toilet paper roll there and this so you got you got a bunch of height so you could actually
1:33:09
put the toilet paper roll in and get your toilet paper in there too
1:33:16
so the point is there's a ton there's a ton of room that I really we didn't
1:33:21
really plan for but uh we got
1:33:27
it and this comes down and I purposely did this offset
1:33:32
here cuz I don't want any way um I don't want in any way for this
1:33:39
to rub this very nice finish that we have on our Cabinetry and I did find a
1:33:49
cushion and for you guys out there probably going to sound like I'm repeating myself but there might be people in the Stream that's just a
1:33:55
cushion from Lowe's it fits almost perfect um yeah so pretty much this
1:34:01
section is uh once I knock out the back of this kitchen Galley we're going to be able to uh put
1:34:09
the drawers back in and then after all that all we have to do is just tidy up
1:34:17
the back and uh we'll be we'll be done
1:34:24
um if we go to the roof of the van uh so yesterday van was out uh
1:34:33
tested all the solar circuits all the way down to the ecoflow power box and
1:34:38
that was
1:34:44
uh that was great um but I left all the wires exposed so I
1:34:51
mean not exposed but I didn't have them zip tied down just in case I had to redo some wiring I didn't want to cut
1:34:57
everything that I had already done so I would say on the top of that
1:35:03
it's just Cable Management on the top of the roof but um I mean the air conditioning is working
1:35:09
great actually it works really great um don't quote me on this but I I think it starts up it seems like
1:35:16
it starts up four times faster than the dedic Artic uh 2000 it's just maybe
1:35:22
that's just me but um that that 48 volt it just seems
1:35:29
like it's just a much more of a positive start you're not really kind of waiting for a ramp
1:35:35
up um yeah so tonight after this live stream that
1:35:43
we're going to focus on this uh the challenge here let's see
1:35:50
if I can get you zoomed in here's what it's stuff takes
1:35:59
time so this is the uh kitchen Galley
1:36:07
back I've been thinking my head how I want to mount this and um I want this to
1:36:13
have access on the other Adventure van that I built um I was able to drill and tap
1:36:19
holes into the aluminum and so it was stainless steel bolts holding this
1:36:24
on um what I'm probably going to do
1:36:29
is I'm probably going to use the uh black painted stainless
1:36:35
screws and then um screw this on because
1:36:42
it's important if you need to get to this stuff back here to work from the back uh the drawers and all that
1:36:52
stuff it just makes it I would say it's almost impossible I
1:36:57
did I did make it to where you can access these valves and stuff and the water filter from the inside that's pretty obvious but um anything major you
1:37:06
I don't want this glued on permanently uh you know if you guys
1:37:12
watch humble Road he's really big about access so I want this to be able to access in the future if you need to
1:37:18
change anything cuz if it's if it's wood glued on forever you know you're going to be cutting and ripping it off it's just so
1:37:25
the panel that I make um I'll neatly screw this in uh it's very
1:37:34
neat and that will be uh that'll be the
1:37:39
plan um yeah so that will be the plan tonight
1:37:45
and then we can move on to the rear so the
1:37:51
rear of the van we have um so the rear of the van the whole
1:37:57
entire bed system is taken care of the uh items that have to be built in the rear are the rear storage container that
1:38:05
goes over the bed we'll have five 10x 13 storage units or
1:38:12
storage bins so these things right
1:38:21
here so we have five of those um so I've already got that laid
1:38:28
out and that's going to be uh it's going to be 68 by 18 in 68 by
1:38:36
18 and then at 68 by8 well a lot for the five to so you
1:38:44
can take those in and out um yeah so that'll definitely those two
1:38:53
those two things will definitely take me about two days to build um and then the final part of the
1:38:59
back of the van that has to be done is the part that you should end with with in my opinion and that's the electrical
1:39:07
enclosure because that allows you to test everything in the van make sure the heater works make sure all the lights
1:39:12
work the water pump everything in the van and then once everything works you get it all labeled you can take it apart
1:39:19
build your enclosure and then wrap it all up um there's a ton of cable in the back of
1:39:25
this van uh even though we went with ecoflow we still have a lot of cables in the back of this van so uh yeah that is
1:39:33
the plan um if you guys wanted to hear the plan but if you guys are not
1:39:38
subscribed uh make sure you guys get subscribed also check out vanit hq.com
1:39:44
it's our website we get a bunch of blog posts and articles on there from howto build guides camper van product reviews
1:39:51

1:40:33
that is the van behind me John and Susan's van uh Odyssey Customs van that is who we are that's
1:40:41
me uh and uh here's the website if you guys want to check out uh the other
1:40:47
Adventure van we just built and took to a couple of Expos and normally I would say that it's for sale but guys we sold
1:40:55
the adventure van um uh it's going to Brian and Robin and
1:41:02
uh if you guys are watching you guys are next in the queue so as soon as JN and Susan's van is
1:41:09
uh out of here your van will be coming in here because you guys uh wanted some
1:41:17
additional upgrades to the van uh which is really exciting uh but yeah
1:41:23
the van is sold so that is that is their new van um so this
1:41:29
van that we were working on as a spec build for the shop is now their van officially and we'll be doing two major
1:41:36
things to it so that is a full suspension lift from Van Compass uh Topo
1:41:44
uh 2.0 I believe is what we're doing um and then we are doing a dual
1:41:51
alternator system um and then we may be changing up the way that the water is
1:41:56
pumped in or out of the van um but yeah so we've just
1:42:04
been uh kind of waiting for get to get all that scheduled
1:42:09
so and then uh we are working on another build that uh end of this year so that
1:42:16
one's going to be a surprise um I haven't uh we're working on that one um
1:42:22
but will tell you more details on that so pretty exciting things happening at
