Heat. Hey,

[Music]
1:22
Hey guys, welcome back to our late night live stream. I'm going to get you guys caught up on everything that's been happening in the shop. Um, yeah, if I
1:30
look worn out, uh, I'm having fun, but um, changing up the schedule a little bit, trying to uh,
1:37
work with all the excitement that's happening in the shop. So, a lot of great things have been happening this past year. So, this is just going to be
1:42
a quick story time catch up with uh, the state of the shop right now. Um
1:49
there comes a time when any business has that next growing level and uh you know
1:56
sometimes it can be a challenge but it's usually uh it comes without you even knowing. So that's what's happening with
2:02
Odyssey Custom Vans. It's it's the best thing that can happen but logistically and scheduling wise uh it's been pretty
2:10
challenging. So Jim and Linda's van back here, that is our priority number one,
2:16
getting that out the door as soon as possible. So I'm going to hop on a call with you guys Sunday. We'll go caught up
2:22
with a uh updated schedule timeline of things. Um I'm going to talk a lot about it in this video today. Um we're doing
2:29
the face frame install on the fridge fridge stack tonight. So I've been finishing up painting the panels um of
2:36
the van. We're going to uh pin nail and glue those into place. Um there's a
2:42
couple of uh I wouldn't call it secret compartments, but places to access the battery that's going to be covered up.
2:48
Um and it'll kind of be like behind the scenes of need to know if you need to access the EcoFlow system or the
2:54
batteries to reset them or something like that. Anyway, back to story time.
2:59
So, right now, uh, we have, uh, Jim and Linda's van that we're working on, obviously, in this live stream. And, uh,
3:07
at the beginning of this month, we had two more vans that are coming in on standby. And, uh, one of them is being
3:12
worked on right behind me. Um, Mark, he's, uh, one of my assistants in the shop. He's helping me out working on
3:19
that while I'm working on Jim and Linda's van. Um, but really what it comes to is those two vans. We've got uh
3:28
on deck coming next month, we've got Michael's van. Um the month after that,
3:35
uh we have Bert's van that's coming in September 1st. Um but they're actually
3:42
driving all the way from California. They're going to meet here on Tuesday
3:47
next week just to leave the van here. Um and they're going to fly back home. They just brought it early just for their
3:52
schedule. So, we got that going on. Uh, and then we got Allison's van, too, as well. Uh,
4:00
and then after that, after Thanksgiving and December, there are two more builds
4:08
coming into the shop. So, um, what I'm doing with this schedule is after Jim
4:14
and Linda's van is complete, which will be very soon, um, going to move to a
4:20
three month a three-w week. So, uh, I've had been flooded with inquiries
4:28
usually about like, uh, you know, five or six every month where someone's looking to install a a ladder or a a
4:36
heater or a vent fan and there's really no time with these bigger projects to fit those in, but the shop needs those
4:43
to be fit in for the business. So the three-week
4:49
uh kind of going forward is three weeks a month will be three weeks will be dedicated to the project builds with one
4:54
open week and then open week is where you guys if you are local or you guys find me online like YouTube you can go
5:01
and schedule a time to come by the shop and do uh those smaller jobs that take like a day or two stuff like that. So
5:09
that's kind of update shopwise. Um, I know that's kind of wild to talk about on YouTube, but I like to show you guys
5:15
what I'm doing, things that, you know, I'm kind of working through as the business grows. And that's one thing
5:21
that's really important to keep things on track. Um, because what happens is
5:27
not only do you have the scheduling of the builds in the shop, but you have logistics on parts. So, um, a lot of the
5:34
stuff in the van industry, if you guys are a DIYer and you're looking to start your own van build,
5:40
uh, what you have is, um, a lot of shops like mine that are actually making parts
5:45
that they sell on, uh, uh, online stores. So, when they get the order,
5:51
it's built to order. So, even though it looks like it's an inventory, it's actually not even created. They have to
5:57
build it to order. Uh, for example, a kitchen galley that we got for Scott's van. It's it arrived to the shop um a
6:04
few weeks ago, but it was a built to order part. So, it takes a week to build it um at the shop, not mine, but the
6:11
shop I buy it from, and it takes about a week to ship. So, um, smaller shops when they get
6:18
overwhelmed with a lot of parts and, uh, fabrication, especially like bumpers and stuff like that, um, that can extend the
6:24
delay and then it kind of moves a bunch of the other stuff and then you can have like a domino effect. Anyway,
6:30
so that's a little bit of story time with the shop and, uh, little update on what's going on logistics wise. Um, and,
6:37
uh, let's get into the van build today. So, if we move over to the van cam, this
6:43
is our fridge deck. And you might see an interesting looking uh three vent kind
6:50
of a vertical thing on the right hand side. That is the air intake for
6:58
um the EcoFlow. So, that we need good
7:03
ventilation. There was we were trying to put it underneath the fridge deck. We were trying to put it underneath the
7:09
rear driver uh bed pull out section. Uh there's just not enough adequate room to
7:15
put it there. So, this is the orientation that we had. Um the happy
7:20
accident that happened with with that one is it created this uh a little bit of countertop space. So, right here uh
7:27
is some we're going to have a bamboo top. And so, we've already cut the panel for the shower. We've got the bamboo
7:36
panel here. We got this back panel and the side panel for this. So, tonight what I'm doing is I'm finishing up with
7:42
this face frame. We're going to pop the microwave and fridge in. This thing will be set to go. Um, I will need to paint
7:50
dry overnight before I actually put the fridge and microwave back in. But you guys will see how I kind of seamlessly
7:55
cover up these uh transitions and gaps. We have our Starlink. We have our HDMI
8:03
cable for our new security camera box that we'll be installing. Uh it should be arriving Monday. And so the reason we
8:10
don't have these panels in on the right hand side is we still need to take away that top panel.
8:18
Um we need the top panel up here on top of the van needs to be removed in order to
8:27
install that new camera right here. Um, so once that gets installed, this
8:32
panel will go back on. We'll install the Starlink and that new uh surveillance
8:39
box. Um, I'll explain more when we do it. We've already carpeted up here. Uh,
8:45
I'm calling this the the coffee shelf. So, it is all set to go. Pretty much
8:51
this fridge deck was designed around the height of a specific
8:58
coffee maker.
9:04
And so this right here is what we wanted to uh that was one of our goals. So this
9:10
is a you could kind of call it like an appliance garage. So it's carpeted up here. Um it's not really this stuff's
9:18
not really going to move around. on. There's a lip inside here. And so, not only the coffee maker, but you can put a
9:24
lot of other stuff that's awkward and doesn't really fit uh in the under the bench seat or uh under the kitchen
9:31
galley, for example. So, we have that up there. So, I'll just kind of leave that. Um yeah, but tonight
9:38
what we're doing is we're finishing the face frame. Uh we're going to do some
9:43
wood filler on these cracks. I'm going to explain how this is set up so that
9:49
Jim and Linda, if you guys uh catch us, um I know it's late, maybe tomorrow if
9:55
you guys are watching, we're going to go over uh how to access the batteries
10:01
and all that good stuff.
10:22
Oh, hey Jim and Linda. Great. So, I just did a little opener story um
10:29
talking about van updates, timeline, and stuff like that. Uh what's been kind of going on in the shop. So,
10:37
um, we'll talk Sunday. We'll hop on a call. We'll get all caught up on everything. Um, but yeah, the beginning
10:43
of this video kind of goes over, uh, the shop update. Tonight, what we're doing
10:49
is we are installing the painted face frames uh, for this uh, fridge stack.
10:55
Um, earlier in the video, we were talking about these louvers here. So, we need
11:01
quite a bit of air flow for the EcoFlow. uh power hub itself, uh the inverter.
11:09
And if you remember, we were going to put this underneath the driver rear
11:15
passenger, but it was really cramped there. We were going to stick it down here, but because we want the coffee
11:22
maker up here on top, we wanted to have adequate room for that. So, that guy is
11:28
good to go. Um,
11:33
so we got a nice little appliance garage at the top of this fridge deck.
11:39
And if we come on down, um, so what we have here is we have one
11:47
main access panel at the bottom. So I'm going to get my drill set up so I can show you how this operates.
11:55
So you'll you'll probably never have to go down there and do anything with that.
12:00
Um but anything that has screws on it and it's a panel is meant to have future
12:08
access if uh that's required. So for example,
12:14
we just have these screws loosely screwed in here. This right here is actually going to get permanently
12:20
installed. Um, it's going to be extremely rare that you ever have to replace the EcoFlow
12:26
flow unit or do like a warranty repair type of thing, but this slid is specifically designed so that you can
12:33
access the three screws in order to remove it. So, this right hand side is
12:40
going to be uh an access panel that you can open to get to all the EcoFlow system. You'll need to access that
12:47
because when the van goes into long-term storage, you're going to need to be able to um pull out the solar panel cable uh
12:57
to fully shut down the unit because the solar is always powered. Um earlier we were also talking about the panels here.
13:04
So, we've got the panel made for the shower, the back, and the side. We're holding off on that because uh Monday
13:11
the new surveillance cameras come in and we need to remove that panel. Put that
13:17
camera in, put the panel back on, and then we can put these panels on. Yeah. So, now we're kind of back up to where
13:25
we started with the video and we're going to show you what's underneath here.
13:37
So, you don't have to completely undo these screws, just just until they uh
13:42
they kind of break free. Now, it's a square head Craig screw adapter you're
13:49
going to need. Um, and that just allows you to put more
13:54
torque on these screws. Um, so pretty much all the screws
13:59
in your van are going to be Craig screws. Now, I put this on here just for looks because this is this is where the
14:06
uh heaters kind of come out. Make sure the camera's showing you guys. Okay,
14:14
let's check out the chat. Awesome. So, this is the heater
14:22
vent. So, this will be the final look of what that looks like. So, you can actually rotate it towards the back or
14:28
towards the front. But we're just going to take this out for right now. It's just temporarily in there while I'm
14:34
working on this. This uh so this will be in here permanently. There's really no reason to
14:41
take it out, but I'm going to take it out right now just so I don't drop it.
14:47
And so back behind this panel, we've got
14:53
two EcoFlow batteries. So, when you remove this panel, what's going to happen is your heater tube is
15:02
going to come out about 4 in of slack, and you'll need to undo that hose clamp
15:07
to take this fully off. So, to access the batteries,
15:15
uh, I designed it to where there's only four Craig screws here on this 2x4.
15:21
And this 2x4 is not part of the structure of the fridge stack. It's
15:26
integrated in there just to keep the batteries safe. So if you open that and take this out, this is still going to be
15:35
safe. Um, so you take four screws out, take this out, and then you can slide the
15:41
batteries out. There's about um I think I left one inch
15:47
of room on top of the batteries. that are inch or three/4ers. Um that's because in the rare case there
15:55
is a uh there is a power switch
16:01
that has like a indicator on it and um
16:06
let's see what side that was on. Yeah. So there's a power button here and
16:12
right there. the system will power on without touching that button, but for whatever reason. If there's a software
16:19
update or something like that, you need to get access to it, you loosen these four screws, heater vent, four screws on
16:27
this 2x4, and you can just slide the batteries out. Um, and then if you need more slack from
16:33
these cables, you should have enough. But if you have more slack, it's just a zip tie behind this access panel and
16:39
then you can pull them out. Okay. So, I need to put this back in place so that I can properly
16:49
fix uh this upper panel in place.
16:55
Okay. So, now this is back to this is DIY van teaching mode right now. So, if
17:01
you guys can see, I have these thin strips of cardboard on the floor and the side. And you want to have these panels,
17:08
you don't want to have them flush to the floor. One, the floor in the Ford Transit is just, it's not perfectly
17:15
true. So, one thing is just visually it helps clean that line up, but two,
17:23
it takes out any possibility of creaking with the panel directly on top of that
17:29
lawn seal floor. So, just as 16th of an inch is really all you need. just just something to to break that up.
17:39
Um, so we're just going to put these back in.
17:48
Okay. And really the only reason I'm doing this is
17:54
when I put this next panel up, I need this to be uh where kind of its final
17:59
home is. Um, this is also DIY help. If you guys
18:05
are doing your own van, you'll see that I have uh just a spare piece of Baltic
18:10
birch over here on the right hand side. So, this is going to be the guide to butt butt this up against because when
18:18
we put this face, this frame over here to enclose the EcoFlow, we want this
18:25
line to be nice and clean so it looks nice and professional.
18:30
Um, this gap here will go away because I just I don't have the screw tightened all the way.
18:36
If you guys can see that, probably not. Um,
18:41
so I made some modifications here for the fridge to go in. So now I'm going to do is I'm just going
18:47
to glue this side and this side. We're going to get the pin nailer gun
18:52
and then we're going to uh nail that into place.
19:01
And so the goal tonight is just to get it glued, pin nailed, all the cracks
19:06
filled, uh get its first coat of touchup, let it
19:12
sit overnight, and then tomorrow we'll be able to uh uh put the fridge and microwave in. And
19:19
that really will be pretty much it for the fridge stack other than uh leaving
19:25
that top open so we can work on it.
19:30
Okay, let's hop on over to
19:40
the glue pin nail. Where did we go?
19:46
So, if you guys don't know what a pin nailer is, it uh first it's a very dangerous tool. So, this is what it is.
19:54
Um, it has like a little safety trigger here. Uh, but don't trust that. Always
19:59
keep it pointed away, even when you're working by yourself. This thing is it's extremely useful tool. It just it puts a
20:06
nice little pin nail in this so that you don't really wreck your paint. And you
20:11
just put like a little bit of u wood filler, light sand, and touch-up. And
20:16
then you you won't see any uh
20:22
uh any what I'm talking about
20:28
any nicks, scrapes or whatever.
20:36
Okay. What else is going on with the van? So the EcoFlow system is um
20:44
it's all hooked up. So we have
20:50
all the cables and everything are plugged into the EcoFlow unit. It is just literally waiting to be powered on.
20:56
Powered on. Uh all the wires are ran to the fuse panel over here in the back. Um we've
21:04
got the 12vt split from the 120 or 110. And so we'll be we'll be covering that.
21:13
Uh
21:18
probably be doing that Monday. So we should have all this these panels here finished
21:25
by the end of the weekend. Okay. So we got our glue here. We're
21:31
just double checking everything looks good.
21:38
And I'm going to steal one of these
21:46
pieces here. Now, again, the paint that we're using is really awesome. It's a paint called
21:52
Scuffex. It's Benjamin Moore. Um, it is really expensive, but it really gives
21:58
you this uh just super abrasive resistant paint.
22:04
And it's designed for kids rooms so that you know if they're marking on the wall or anything like that, they can
22:11
uh you can wipe it off. So the pen nailer, we've got 1 in 23
22:17
gauge pin nails in here.
22:22
And so we just shoot one in here. You probably can't even see it on camera. And we're just going to do a few. We're
22:29
going to let that wood glue work for us. Um, so one here, one here in the middle,
22:35
two in the bottom, and then two in the top.
23:21
So this piece right Here, we're going to take this off
23:27
now that we got it square. And then we need to This one got
23:33
clamped, so it's in a good spot. Just need to clamp this side.
23:49
And really be careful. You don't want to shoot something through your expensive Eco EcoFlow
23:56
system. Okay, so this one is all finished. Um, and then we'll touch this
24:01
up later. But now, since we have that cardboard, we have that room to uh when we undo
24:08
this, it'll kind of drop down and then you can put the panel back on.
24:14
Um, and then also what this does is so that when you have this wood construction, if there's you're going to
24:20
have deviation in your in your wood, whether if you're using uh, you know,
24:25
cabinet style, like carpentry style, like cabinet making, we're using the actual cabinet
24:32
as the structure of the fridge stack, which I did on um,
24:38
John and Susan's van. This van I did a little bit different because we got a little bit more stuff going on. We've
24:45
got the EcoFlow, the fridge, the shower. So, it just needs a little bit more stronger setup. Um anyway, but you're
24:53
going to have stuff that's not completely square. But your reveal, which is what you see on the outside,
25:01
you can really dial that in to make it look perfect. So, by doing this, it
25:06
keeps everything nice and flush so that when you do have this panel go on here, even though what you're nailing to might
25:12
be off like a 16th or like a 302, the reveal at the end of the day is going to
25:17
look uh super clean and pro. Okay, so that's that first one. Now,
25:23
we're doing that same trick. We're going to do that up here to this piece. Um except we're going to use a skinnier
25:32
piece of wood.
25:57
Now, these are not going to match up perfectly, but that's okay because we have that flange on the fridge. Um, I
26:04
just shave this off because I didn't want it to have to do it later if the fridge
26:09
clearance just couldn't make it through. So, we're just going to loosen this.
26:18
And another reason we're doing this is everything has to kind of
26:24
play together at the same time. So, this piece is in here nice and flush. And
26:29
then we come up here. This piece is a separate piece. We also need it to be nice and clean. So, it's doing good.
26:38
Um, I'll clamp that into place.
26:57
Okay. And so if you look up here, we got a gap at the top. So we need to check our our
27:05
left side. All right. So, since our left side's perfect, what we'll do is when we come over here
27:11
with this uh panel that holds um the TV for gym seat, we're just going to clamp
27:17
and then pin nail that in. And that way it just will be a nice clean corner.
27:24
All right. So, this piece looks great. So, we're going to glue pin nail it. And
27:30
again, this is not perfect. We want the outside to be perfect. This inside is
27:37
all going to be covered up by the uh stainless steel flanges and stuff like that from the the fridge and the
27:43
microwave.
28:00
Now, one thing I didn't do to this piece of wood is uh after I modified it, I didn't repaint the edge. So, I just I
28:07
need to make sure I do that tonight um so it dries before tomorrow.
28:19
All right. So, get that in place and then we're going to use this
28:27
That piece is going to make sure we got it right where we want it.
28:33
Just do a pin down on the bottom. And we'll do one here on the top.
29:01
Okay. So, now we can just come through. Probably do two more.
29:11
Okay. So, now this is all finished. Now, we're going to come over to this other side.
29:42
and I'll bring the camera up here in just a second. So, pay attention down
29:47
here. We have this uh kind of odd jog right here, but that's because this panel um in case we need to remove this,
29:55
it can come out. Um, and because we have this ventilation gap over here, I didn't
30:01
want to cut this and have it just this real thin piece. I wanted it to be more thick.
30:11
Okay, so this guy's ready to go. We're going to do the same thing. We're going to glue it.
30:17
Pop it in.
31:19
And always keep it about an inch away from the joints. You don't want anything
31:25
oozing out on your freshly painted
31:31
piece. And my recommendation is always preaint
31:38
everything as much as you can. Uh that way you're just doing maybe just a few touchup coats. Um one thing that's
31:45
really nice about this paint is
31:50
it touches up uh you can't see where you've touched it up.
32:04
Nova, come here. Come here.
32:21
All right, come. Got some fireworks going on outside.
32:39
Okay, so we got the top lined up. We're going to come in and get this bottom lined up.
32:46
And this is the one we really want to be careful on because it's got the
32:53
uh most intense reveal because it is where everybody's gonna everybody can
33:00
see over here.
33:22
Okay. Now, we have this piece right here that's going to fix this gap. And we are
33:29
going to make sure that we Oh, yeah. You guys can't see.
33:34
Let me bring it up to the top.
33:55
Okay. So, for this top one, we're going to do another clamp. Uh because this is
34:00
just tacky from the uh the paint on the back.
34:15
So, this is the one we kind of This is like our little repair piece.
34:39
Okay. So, we're going to go cut this on the chopsaw and we'll be right back.
34:56
might be a little loud. I think the the vinyl will duck on the microphone.
35:18
All right, here we go.
36:01
Just got to cut a hair more off.
36:30
He
37:56
All
38:10
[Applause]
38:20
right, I think we got it.
38:29
Perfection. Excellent.
38:49
Okay, let's get some glue on that.
39:14
The nice thing with Baltic birch is if you can cut it perfect, the repair is I
39:21
mean it's perfect. Um
39:27
yeah. So So we're going to do some filler on that section. And I'll
39:32
show you the filler to use, too. Um, let's just go ahead and let's just put a
39:38
pin and nail in here. All right.
39:46
Now, uh, we just ripped a 2-in piece. That's
39:51
our last piece that goes here in the middle. So, we didn't paint this one,
39:57
but uh because we still need to see how what size it is.
40:12
Now, we could use a tape measure on this, but I'm not because we're going to dial this
40:20
in. uh with the filler. So,
40:27
we just want to get it super close.
40:59
[Applause]
41:14
Now, I think you won't even see This piece we need it there just for to keep everything nice and flush. Um,
41:22
but this is going to be
41:28
pretty much covered up by the flange of the microwave and the top of the fridge.
41:56
[Applause]
42:13
So, if you're doing this DIY and you find stuff is not fitting, when you're cutting it, it's kind of like off.
42:20
Make sure your It sounds simple, but make sure your your saw or uh table saw or jigsaw even
42:29
is, you know, properly adjusted. Um
42:35
I believe I had to tighten up my jigsaw earlier today. It was
42:41
It said it was locked perpendicular, but it was uh not.
42:47
Okay. So, now we can take out Let's take this one off.
43:03
Now, one thing you can do is try to find out uh what appliance has the most
43:10
forgiveness. So, if the fridge can go over this lip,
43:15
then maybe you make this lip, you know, not flush with the uh
43:21
piece you have it on. Um,
43:29
and cuz this 2x4, uh, it kind of goes up like that.
43:35
Um, other thing about if you're going to use any type of plywood from like a box store is
43:43
try to work with it as quickly as you can. Uh, because it warps
43:49
as soon as it changes environment. So you might you might pick it up straight at the store, but then as soon as you
43:55
get it home, it's already started to warp.
44:00
So now I'm just making sure that
44:05
this looks good. Okay.
44:12
All right. I'm happy with that.
44:18
And yes, I know I'm going to have to take this back out and glue it, but I just want to know that it's flush down
44:24
there. So, we're just going to paint this one in place, but we still need to
44:31
put some glue on it.
44:56
camouflage glue.
45:42
So sometimes when you clamp it, uh the clamp will actually pull your work down, your work piece down that
45:49
you're working on. So you'll just have to maybe do it by
45:54
hand.
45:59
So, I know my left and my right hand side are good.
46:06
So, I'm just going to flush it up on this side. Do one pin now and then get it up on the
46:13
other side and do the other.
46:55
And since this one hasn't been painted yet, I'm just going to tack in a couple more.
47:08
Okay. Yeah. be very careful where you point
47:13
that even when you're working by yourself in the van. I mean, it can shoot out your windshield or whatever.
47:20
It's uh it's it's just definitely not the safest tool. Um so, we'll have to
47:26
get the uh orbital sander and knock this edge down
47:33
right here. And now it's probably not going to be visible. Um, but we just that's we need
47:40
to do that regardless. All right, let's sand. Get a rough surface and then we're going
47:46
to put some of this uh color changing wood filler. So, this is
47:53
by this is by Minwax.
47:59
And a pro tip is get a used
48:07
razor blade, something like that.
48:13
And that's going to allow you to do less sanding. So, what we're going to do is
48:20
do a light scuff and we get some adhesion. And then we're
48:25
going to scrape it after we're done. Um
48:52
with this and then it'll be uh we won't have to sand so
48:58
which is basically what I just said.
49:19
And if you drop any of this, just let it fall and then just clean it when it dries.
49:26
uh just try not to step on it. But what we're doing is we're just
49:31
taking the razor blade and we're just dragging it across here.
49:38
And if you got big gaps, uh just get it started and then we can always come back and
49:44
build up. And it's pretty much it's just to the
49:50
level of your OCD. Like it's just however crazy perfect you want this. I can get
49:57
it pretty perfect. So I try to do that
50:05
and you can get it to where you can't even see a transition. So
50:15
uh so unfortunately I haven't been taking a lot of photos of the build process. It's mainly a lot of live
50:23
streaming. Um, again, just like what I said earlier in this video about just uh
50:30
just being busy in a good way. Um,
50:37
so when we do uh the September build, I'm going to try
50:44
to be a little bit proactive. I'll only have two things going on then. I mean, by
50:50
that time, I think I can get a little bit more content out.
51:03
Uh, a lot of other cool products that I've got on the way that I haven't used before. Um, there's a in
51:11
there's a van uh drawer system. It's called Decked
51:17
and it is it's actually made for pickup trucks, but they've sized it for cargo
51:25
vans. And I got one for mine
51:30
for a trip that I'm taking at the end of August.
51:36
And I can't wait to show it to you, but it's in a box. It's not even I won't be able
51:42
to get to it until all these vans are knocked out.
52:05
Okay. So, everything up here is looking great. Looks good.
52:12
Um, if you're doing the pin holes, just do them with your
52:18
finger. Uh, the razor is a little bit overkill for working with that.
52:26
But yeah, just kind of touch it like that and just rub it away.
52:31
Again, if you drop this stuff, just let it fall. Don't step on it or touch it.
52:36
It'll get rock hard and then you can just pick it up later.
54:22
If you don't want to use wood filler for these little pin nail holes, I mean, technically you don't have to, but uh
54:31
you could just put a glob of paint on there, but it's not really the right way to do it.
54:52
And yes, I have all the ports over here taped off on the EcoFlow. I don't want to get any
54:58
anything in there. Got to make sure I come back and hit that.
55:31
Yeah, this stuff dries extremely fast. So, I think I'll be able to
55:37
I need to do a coat before I hop off the live stream. So, I think you guys will
55:42
be able to see that. Um,
55:49
let's see here.
56:21
Also,
56:33
the angle of your uh pin nailer is really important too.
57:19
So, pro tip, if you can remember, I'm doing three nails here. When I put this
57:25
panel on here, and I want to tie it into this, I need to make sure that I go in
57:30
between these. And that might be hard to remember. You might need to put on a piece of tape. But if you hit a if you put hit a pin nail with another pin
57:37
nail, it's going to be a pain in the butt. It kind of sticks out like a wire. It's really hard to get out.
57:44
So, just a little bit little pro tip for you.
59:17
Okay. So, let's sand this piece down.
59:29
So, I'm gonna turn the volume down just for a second.
59:34
It's probably going to be pretty loud.
1:01:33
Okay. And all these places that are not pink, we can go ahead and we're using a 400 grit sandpaper.
1:01:42
Okay. Cuz this part I need to actually work on that a little bit little bit
1:01:47
more like a little dent something.
1:01:55
The good thing about Baltic birch is is extremely um tough.
1:02:01
But because it's so tough, if you do have a little nick, uh does stand out.
1:02:18
Just we're doing extremely light. We don't want to blow out whatever we just uh
1:02:24
worked on putting in there. Nine times out of 10, I can just do this in one pass. I don't have to come back by here.
1:05:06
So, I'm not using one, but uh a tack cloth is really good to use if you're really. Uh,
1:05:13
I want to get rid of all the dust. Um, it's possible I'm going to come back
1:05:18
in here and do one more coat tomorrow. So,
1:05:25
we'll just have to see.
1:05:42
Yeah, we'll definitely be doing another coat tomorrow because
1:05:47
we have this piece. All right, let's take all this stuff off.
1:05:55
Let's get our pads under here. Collect any drips.
1:06:43
We're going to try to use the bulk of this new paint on this part here because
1:06:48
it'll help us get the bulk of it off our roller.
1:06:57
And that way we're not oversaturating the places where all we're doing is just
1:07:02
touching up. Like this side for example.
1:08:14
Yeah. So, I definitely have to redo some touch-ups over here on this. It's going to need a second coat.
1:11:36
Okay, so that's done until tomorrow. So, we'll let that dry
1:11:42
and we're going to sand it with 400 grit. We'll have some fresh paint. Uh the paint we're using was
1:11:49
from painting those panels today. So sometimes if you leave it out gets a little dry. Um you want that final coat
1:11:56
to be a nice pretty pretty heavy coat. Um
1:12:03
but we got this finished. We'll just do one light more light one with a fresh roll tomorrow.
1:12:10
And yeah, so that's uh that's the face frame all complete for the fridge and
1:12:16
microwave stack and the bottom which is going to be
1:12:22
where we will cut and size the heater outlet. So we'll do that
1:12:30
right there. And then
1:12:37
yeah, we're going to plug the microwave up. plug the fridge up and then we won't have any more work to do there. We do
1:12:43
need to make the uh inside the top pieces for that shelf where the coffee maker is. Um
1:12:50
yeah, that's pretty much it for the fridge deck. One more coat of paint tomorrow
1:12:55
and that's it. It's it'll be good to go.
1:13:00
All right, guys. if uh who is on the live stream right now.
1:13:09
We don't have any more work to do. We got five people on here. It's pretty nice. Um
1:13:17
yeah, so fridge stack face frame complete, ready for install of fridge
1:13:23
and microwave. And then what we'll do is we will move over to this other piece
1:13:29
over here. So, we just got that panel that's going to go in there. So, we got one, two, three panels.
1:13:39
Fourth if you cut count the back one. Um, they have to go in there. And then,
1:13:45
if you notice, the kitchen galley has been removed. Uh, that's because it's
1:13:51
getting everything else installed. So, uh, let me see if I can turn this desk
1:13:57
around. Um, hold on a second. Let's go here.
1:14:06
The famous coffee maker. We did it. And we got room to spare. I I I have no
1:14:12
clue. Uh, as much triple checking and measuring that I did.
1:14:20
This right here is uh we can You do have to turn it to get it
1:14:27
out. But you've got some height. Um,
1:14:32
and just if you guys want to maybe go through the kitchen and figure out what can fit up here, this shelf. So, we're
1:14:40
going to call this the appliance garage. It's carpeted. So, it's the same fabric
1:14:45
on the ceiling. It's on this panel. You can't see it, but this is 21 and 1/2 in wide.
1:14:54
Uh, it'll be 18 and a quarter inches deep.
1:14:59
The max height came out to 15 and 12 inches and a min
1:15:05
is 13 in. But remember, the Starlink is
1:15:11
going to be bolted to the back and there'll be the uh I keep calling it the surveillance
1:15:17
camera box, but it's the box that has that uh HDMI.
1:15:22
So, this HDMI cable will
1:15:27
So, this is your Starlink and HDMI. That'll That's getting wired up there.
1:15:32
So, that sounds pretty good. Okay,
1:15:41
let's take a look. Let's turn the camera around.
1:15:47
Um, let me turn the camera around. So, here
1:15:52
is this other view.
1:16:07
So, all of the the switches, the door for the kitchen galley, all of that got
1:16:14
installed today. The switch is really hard because um we got a half inch of bamboo and then
1:16:21
we've got um so this right here there's a half inch
1:16:28
of bamboo and then there's a eighth inch of aluminum. So this switch right here if you ever
1:16:37
need to replace it just bar just very easily take this
1:16:43
cover off. Um, you get two screws. And so this is the dimmer switch for the
1:16:49
lights on the inside. So up and down. Uh, and that has to be a perfect cut
1:16:57
because you know, it just has to be perfect.
1:17:04
Um, this is the door I got custom made
1:17:13
because this kitchen galley is technically supposed to have a little mini refrigerator there.
1:17:19
So, if I zoom in, so what I did is I had an extra
1:17:25
handle of this this lock and this lock is the same as the kitchen galley door.
1:17:31
So, you just push this. This unlocks and then this has a back stop. That's
1:17:38
the way that this works. So when you push this in, it grabs the back.
1:17:45
The reason is, see, it doesn't vibrate when you go down the road. So this door
1:17:53
um and the paint color of the van that we've been painting is matched off of this powder coated uh aluminum. So, I
1:17:59
took a piece that I cut off to the paint store. If you're doing DIY, you do the
1:18:05
same thing. Just take a sample of I mean, if you can um they can scan it and
1:18:11
then you can match. That's how we got this white. So, it's uh should be perfect match. Uh we
1:18:20
got two drawers to put in here. Now again, the seven gallon hot water tank will be in here, but there's enough room
1:18:25
to put uh paper towels, toilet paper, and some stuff in here.
1:18:34
This drawer is out. Um on this other side, uh I'm installing this. So this is
1:18:41
that
1:18:46
zoom back out.
1:18:52
[Laughter] Uh,
1:18:58
let's see here.
1:19:04
So, you guys will see this. Uh, Jim and Linda already know what's going on here, but we're doing a really nice ravati
1:19:10
sink with a butcher block. Uh, we're we got a crazy faucet. Um this thing has
1:19:16
got uh an integrated additional spot for filtered water.
1:19:24
Um and then this is something that had to be special ordered.
1:19:32
Um this is something you see in like big
1:19:37
contracting build pro buildings where maybe you have a library library or conference center or something like
1:19:43
that. So, what this is right here is this is a uh lockable kind of like
1:19:50
tamperproof outlet um
1:19:57
electrical outlet cover. So, it's actually locked right now. It
1:20:03
does come with a key, so you guys are going to have to be careful with that.
1:20:17
Put these screws back in here.
1:20:26
Okay, so this has a uh so there will be some kids hanging
1:20:31
out in this van to uh
1:20:37
family's going to be traveling in this van. Um, and we wanted to make sure that the kids don't mess with if they're
1:20:44
riding, they don't mess with these switches. So, I didn't know that this is
1:20:49
spring-loaded. That's kind of cool. So, this door is springloaded.
1:20:55
So, that's a nice feature we didn't we didn't consider. Um, so if you guys can
1:21:02
answer in the chat, I'll talk to you Sunday. But maybe right now, uh, this
1:21:08
opens up, but I think we wanted it to I'm pretty sure we wanted it to open down.
1:21:15
So, we're going to install it like that so that it opens down. I'm 99% sure we wanted to do that.
1:21:23
Um, so this we're going to have outlets here. So, we'll have power outlet.
1:21:31
Um, yeah, this gonna be cool. Really cool setup.
1:21:37
So, it locks, folds down, and that's spring loaded. That's That's pretty cool.
1:21:48
Um, let's see if this other camera can show the other side.
1:21:55
Maybe. So, this is going to go over here.
1:22:01
So, wherever this drawer bottom stops, this is where this is going to get put
1:22:07
in here. And then we can open it up and have access to these charging outlets.
1:22:22
Okay.
1:22:29
Oh, good, Linda. Yeah, it's a really cool uh it's a very neutral color
1:22:34
palette, but it's also it feels very clean. Like when I walk in this van, it just feels nice and clean, fresh. Um
1:22:44
yeah, so if you get maybe some pillows or like something with like pops of color, it's going to it's really going to tie everything together. Um,
1:22:54
yeah, that'll be great.
1:22:59
Okay, so this see make sure we get all this together.
1:23:06
Okay, so that's going to go in over there. Um, hole for our plumbing drain. So,
1:23:14
this thing's pretty much prepped. The back panel is already made, the bamboo uh panel. So, that gets bolted on. Um,
1:23:22
so this will go back in Monday after everything's dry inside the van. Uh, so
1:23:29
we'll probably hop on a live stream for that. But
1:23:38
what else here? Did you guys get to see the shop?
1:23:44
It's kind of messy. Um, what else? It's okay. We're gonna
1:23:50
Let's see here. All right, guys. That is what we're going to be wrapping up this
1:23:57
evening. If you guys have not checked out uh vanbuerhq.com,
1:24:02
that is our blog where you guys can go on there, get some DIY tips. Um
1:24:13
they're excited about the seat belts. That's great. Uh,
1:24:18
let's see. Can I grab
1:24:23
if I can do that real quick? All right, let me unplug this camera.
1:24:29
I think I can move this over there.
1:24:37
Hold on, Nova. We're moving.
1:24:47
Um, that is if I can get the box. So, they're excited about the seat
1:24:52
belts. That's awesome.
1:25:01
Try to see if I could show those.
1:25:15
Okay, I'll save that for the back. We'll we'll show you how to uh show you how to hook up those seat belts. They're really
1:25:21
cool. They got like a quick disconnect. Um and yeah, you might teach them how to
1:25:28
plug them in.
1:26:03
Well, I'm trying to pull up the uh website
1:26:34
There we go.
1:26:41
All right, guys. Vanilla HQ. This is our website. Um, two things we have right now. So, we have a uh
1:26:49
free downloadable cheat sheet that is also in the comment section or the description of this video that you guys

1:28:02
it'll also pull up a calendar link um for you as well.
1:28:07
And the last thing that I can put in here, let me see if I can pull it up. Um
1:28:38
Yeah, just like I said at the beginning of this phone call, um
1:28:45
after uh this van's out, the shop is
1:28:50
extremely busy. So, if you guys are looking to get a van conversion done

1:30:34
for the course and the DIY van build cheat sheet is in the description. Um,
1:30:39
if you guys have any questions, put those in the comments below. I'd be happy to answer them in a future video. We will be doing that. You guys have a
1:30:45
ton of comments that you've sent me uh in the messages and I just have not had
1:30:50
a chance to get to them. So, uh um let's see here.
1:31:05
I'm gonna That's funny. When they when they see it, they'll they'll believe it. So, it's
1:31:12
going to be wild. They're gonna say this is not the same van. It's a completely different van. So, I love it.
1:31:22
Oh, that's great. Yeah, I'm I'm looking forward to knocking this out for you guys and uh getting this so that you
1:31:29
guys have a lot of fun in it. Um I'm super proud of the the details in this
1:31:35
van because uh it's something I really had in my head and I wanted to put put into
1:31:41
uh a van. So, yeah, I think you're really going to enjoy it. Um,
1:31:48
yeah, pretty much the last thing we have to do is we're going to be stripping some wires to put into the fuse panel.
1:31:53
Uh, I'm saving that so you guys that have the EcoFlow system, you can see how that's done. Um, it can be a little bit
1:32:00
cumbersome because it's so many wires. You want to make sure you do the right thing. You want to make sure you test
1:32:05
them before you actually send power to them. You might have goofed, put the wrong power to the wire. Um, so we'll
1:32:12
we'll do that as a section and then uh we'll pop the kitchen galley in.
1:32:20
We'll do the plumbing connections and uh yeah, we'll
1:32:27
test all the systems which is the fun part. Um I always wish that part lasts longer because as soon as they get done
1:32:33
the van is sent off. So but that's uh that's the name of the game. But, um,
1:32:40
yeah. All right, guys. I'm gonna head out of here, get some rest, back in here
1:32:46
tomorrow. Uh, gonna work on another part of the project. And, uh, that's it.
1:32:52
Thank you guys for staying so late with me tonight. Um, we'll be live streaming very soon, probably Sunday. And, uh,
1:33:00
we'll get back to building vans and answering questions and, uh, showing you guys work in the shop. All right, that's
1:33:07
going to do it for tonight. Thank you guys so much for watching. Get subscribed and I will see you guys in the next live stream.
