once again welcome back to the countdown
0:04
stream of getting the van delivered to
0:07
Brian and Robin they're on their way
0:10
they'll be here
0:11
tomorrow and uh yeah I'm just making
0:14
these little mini live videos because
0:17
I'm covering some stuff to where um it's
0:20
crunch time so I'm not going to film and
0:23
then like refilm so I'm just going to do
0:25
it live while I'm in the moment um but
0:27
that way I can kind of tell you guys
0:29
what's happening as I put stuff together
0:31
the last uh live stream today we talked
0:33
about the heater down there um is and
0:37
also we talked
0:39
about uh like the heat shield for on top
0:43
of the Webasto we talked about the AC
0:46
breaker um and then we talked a little
0:48
bit about the wake
0:50
speed okay by the way I just did a test
0:53
run with the wak speed regulator and the
0:56
nation's second alternator it is
0:59
unbelievable it it blew my mind so I
1:02
cranked up the engine and you know
1:04
everything's running smooth no
1:05
vibrations the belts and everything are
1:07
really nice um I started looking at the
1:11
reny M1 and it's showing me a real time
1:13
of the current charging on the system
1:16
and it went to like 140 amps 150 180 200
1:20
220 240 250 then it went up to 260 and
1:24
it peaked out at 268 amps charging at
1:28
idle
1:30
and blew my mind so if you're thinking
1:33
about getting a nation's alternator for
1:35
your second alternator uh I would say
1:37
100% go ahead and do it maybe just make
1:39
it your main charging component of your
1:42
van throw an extra solar panel on top um
1:46
and that's it I mean the the the DC to
1:49
DC stuff uh I understand why I use that
1:53
in the past um but I don't know how I
1:58
uh now it's it's it's really challenging
2:00
to put the uh second alternator in it is
2:03
very challenging it is expensive but man
2:08
having a 2
2:10
268 amp charge rate for your van is
2:15
insane um that's pretty much 2 and a
2:18
half lithium batteries fully charged
2:20
from 0% every hour uh so just
2:26
incredible um yeah that was awesome this
2:29
see
2:30
that and
2:33
uh yeah so if you're thinking about
2:35
getting it go ahead and get it as
2:37
hilarious the uh this the two Ries here
2:40
uh they have a red light on the uh
2:42
alternator and essentially um it's not
2:47
using it for the alternator which is
2:49
funny because the uh it doesn't need it
2:54
so yeah the alternator would have
2:58
to shut off off or do something like
3:01
that for these to even work now these
3:03
are the mppp solar charge controller so
3:06
they are
3:07
still uh they still have
3:09
their
3:11
um
3:13
usefulness uh so yeah but pretty
3:17
much Brian and
3:19
Robin have a killer charging system I'm
3:27
talking perfect off system 600 amp
3:32
hours
3:36
batteries
3:38
268 amps at idle
3:43
charging
3:45
um uh then it did ramp down to 170 amps
3:49
and I think that was a thermal
3:51
throttling because I mean uh that's a
3:54
lot of current to push and if the van is
3:57
sitting still not moving um you know
3:59
that the alternator is not going to cool
4:02
down as much as it would like on the
4:03
highway or whatnot so it throttled it
4:07
did everything it was supposed to do and
4:09
I'm pretty excited about that now over
4:12
here let's talk about this we just put
4:14
their final covers on our two combo
4:16
units so if we didn't have the Dual
4:18
alternator alternators in this band
4:21
these two units would we take over the
4:22
DC to DC charging so the DC to DC side
4:26
probably won't ever get used because the
4:29
current from the alternator is
4:31
overcoming these
4:33
two
4:35
um the other thing is uh let's see what
4:38
else I was saying um but the mppt on
4:41
both of these we got the two 100 wat
4:44
panels are here the 1 140 is over here
4:48
so it's split again redundancy we got
4:51
the vron vron linkx distributor this is
4:53
taking care of our air conditioner unit
4:56
our dual DC todc Chargers um as well as
5:01
our
5:04
uh uh
5:06
inverter over here we have a 100 amp
5:09
terminal fuse this terminal fuse is used
5:12
for the sub panel underneath the sink
5:15
100 amp service to the rest of the
5:16
electronics in the van and then we have
5:18
a mini panel here of just four fuses so
5:21
these four fuses we talked about earlier
5:24
the first one to the right is the wake
5:27
speed regulator itself it's rated at 15
5:29
amps we have a 12volt sense wire circuit
5:34
so all the 12vt senses that are in the
5:36
van uh the 12vt sents for the AC the DC
5:39
to DC combo Chargers um and two other
5:43
additional items uh are here and it's
5:46
just a 2 Amp Fuse back up one more we
5:49
got the LED light which is just
5:51
completely for looks just to look cool
5:53
that's a 5 amp fuse and then our last
5:56
one is our 110 AC breaker
6:00
LED and we got a 15 amp in for the um
6:05
for that circuit over here on the very
6:09
right this right here is a thermally
6:12
controlled uh exhaust fan so it kicks on
6:16
at 80Β° and then um cools down the rest
6:21
you can change this if you want to
6:22
change it to a higher temperature uh but
6:27
the the temperature sensor is at the bot
6:29
bottom of the inverter so when the
6:30
inverter starts to warm up this is going
6:32
to start to circulate air into the
6:36
system so that is that uh batteries are
6:40
topped off fully charged so now we get
6:43
to
6:45
install the
6:47
uh one of the pieces I'm proud of which
6:51
is it's becoming a signature piece on
6:54
Odyssey custom vans um we didn't uh
7:00
so for
7:02
uh the van for
7:06
uh uh the other van build that we did we
7:09
didn't do this because um the style
7:12
wasn't there for this panel but if you
7:13
guys have seen this before this is a
7:16
like etched glass plexiglass acrylic
7:21
screen
7:23
um and I'm going to clean it really
7:25
quick before we put everything back
7:27
together
7:48
a nice microfiber here
8:20
easy
8:22
okay all right so this is going to close
8:25
this up and then we're going to move on
8:27
to other parts of the van
8:34
missing two bolts I have to go get some
8:38
more so let's wipe these off while we're
8:41
at
8:44
it everything looks really
8:52
nice this will complete our power system
9:11
h
9:44
now like I said
9:46
again every couple of months you just
9:48
want to come over and check
9:51
these just to make sure well I need to
9:53
take this out I need to find a I need an
9:55
extra screw
10:00
you guys have questions ask away in the
10:02
chat
10:54
okay so this left side of the van over
10:58
here is complete everything's working um
11:01
so we're going to move over to the right
11:03
hand side and uh start
11:05
to do a little Cable Management over
11:13
there so one last thing over here is I'm
11:16
going to cut a a mat for this drawer
11:22
slide so I'm going to cut out a custom
11:24
mat it's not I mean it's not crazy it's
11:26
just a mat that I got size it lows
11:31
but it'll keep this tray from getting
11:34
scratched
11:37
up this tray is a matte finish it's a
11:39
powder coated matte finish and matte
11:42
powder coated finishes you know kind of
11:43
get dirty
11:53
quickly and we'll cut a little piece of
11:55
carpet in here and we'll kind of end it
11:58
for that
12:00
if you guys are hopping on just uh if
12:02
you have any questions feel free to ask
12:25
[Music]
12:37
[Music]
13:07
for
13:51
now tomorrow we're going to do the full
13:53
it won't be live but we're doing the
13:55
full van tour
13:57
tomorrow so do first first thing in the
13:59
morning and then as soon as that video
14:01
is done we're going to give
14:04
uh Bri and Robin a call and then they
14:06
can
14:07
come and we'll start the process of
14:11
actually going over their van all the
14:13
features
14:15
um that's another reason I just I record
14:18
so much video is they ever want if I'm
14:20
not available and they want
14:22
to you know learn about something about
14:24
their van that we didn't
14:27
cover or that we covered and it's a
14:29
little more detailed then they can just
14:32
uh hop on the YouTube and do that
14:37
thing okay so here's the pull out drawer
14:41
slide uh I already know that the length
14:44
of this drawer is
14:47
5T and the
14:50
width uh so we got 17 and 3/4 in so I'll
14:55
be right back with
14:57
that little p
15:27
okay
15:57
for for
16:34
all right guys we going to be here for
16:35
one more minute this just a super quick
16:37
video so if you have any questions let
16:39
me
16:40
know can you ever feed too much power
16:42
into the batteries from the alternator
16:44
so uh you can't um because you have a
16:48
wake speed regulator so that whole that
16:51
box is what is handling the flow of
16:55
power um and it's relying on the volt
16:58
Vol of the
17:01
batteries um the wake speed regulator
17:03
itself is programmed so when you get it
17:05
from nation's alternator they
17:09
program uh and size it to how many
17:13
batteries you have or what your amp
17:14
hours is of your
17:16
system so this one has a tag it says
17:19
Renegy 600 ah which is amp
17:24
hours and so that's designed so that um
17:31
the Box
17:32
knows how much to charge when to stop
17:35
charging all that good
17:44
stuff uh as a backup the batteries
17:47
themselves have something called a BMS
17:49
and a lot of you guys know what that
17:52
means it stands for battery battery
17:54
management system and so the
17:57
BMS is internal to each individual
18:01
battery and it is there to make sure
18:03
that the batteries
18:06
don't uh
18:07
overcharge uh over
18:11
discharge um that also they
18:14
also incorporate the making sure they
18:18
don't charge below
18:26
freezing find my scissors
18:30
scissors
18:53
go we
18:55
got figure how much I got to take off of
18:58
here
19:00
15 take out 15 and a
19:15
half all right not sure why that was
19:18
at so live stream messed up a little bit
19:21
um yeah quick overview of this we're
19:25
going to finish this up and then in a
19:27
little bit this next part part will be
19:29
finished and we'll go over that uh
19:31
putting the final covers on it and then
19:33
the last video of the night will be over
19:35
here on the kitchen gallery and we'll be
19:37
doing some uh wire organization and
19:40
stuff like that and uh yeah be finished
19:44
up stay tuned for future live streams
