hey everyone welcome to tonight's live stream this is our final part of the unaka roof rck uh
1:00
assembly so we got our solar panels here that we're going to unbox and then what we're going to do uh
1:07
had a question in one of the last live streams don't worry about all the behind the scenes details I'm going to make a
1:12
video showing the video and some photos I've took behind the scenes you guys have not seen in the live stream so
1:19
that's coming later uh it'll be a short video so you don't have to make it through all the live streams to look how
1:24
to put this thing together um this live stream is just to go over the solar
1:30
panels that we bought we're going to lay out the frame onto this table uh I built this table in the shop
1:37
um pretty much the size of a Ford Transit van so that I can lay out roof racks I can lay out flooring um anything
1:43
like that that I want to do so what's going to be cool is I'm going to lay out these solar panels just how we're going
1:50
to put them on the roof and uh we're going to set them up into three sections
1:55
so we'll have the 200 wat WTS up here we'll have the 55 Watts here and the two
2:01
35s in the back and if you're wondering how this is all being put
2:08
together uh what we're doing is let me hop on over to the computer so this is
2:14
the roof rack system that we're using and it is uh collaboration between
2:20
unaka and explores dolie uh which is the YouTube channel you guys may have seen
2:26
uh Nate over here on explorer. life this is his uh YouTube channel so we're going
2:32
to reference this schematic that he put together um this shows how this system
2:37
is supposed to be put together um according to kind of what they thought up and work together so this is what it
2:44
looks like in its final form the whole entire roof of the Ford Transit is going to be uh pretty much every square inch
2:51
is going to be used which is really cool you're going to have the most efficient layout as far as a Ford Transit roof Rec
2:58
goes as accepting solar um the two units are great out here in the back so one is
3:04
the max fan that you guys can see and the other one is a nomatic cooling X3 now for our customer in this build
3:11
we're doing an X2 and we're doing a 48 volt system uh which is brand new with the pneumatic
3:18
Cooling and uh it's going to be awesome uh we don't need the amount of BTUs of
3:23
an X3 X3 is really um it's a great unit but it's a little uh Overkill in the
3:29
cooling um just for the uh build that we're doing for this customer so the good news
3:35
is it's going to be a little bit it'll be not such a tight fit in the back so we'll have about two or three inches on
3:41
each side just a little bit more of a gap uh however I'm very curious to see the gap between the max fan and the AC
3:50
unit um but as far as the layout for the solar goes uh this is going to be really
3:55
cool roof rack I'm I'm really excited if you guys have watched the other two live streams as we've been putting this
4:02
together um this is very precise roof rack so uh I definitely recommend it at
4:08
this point as far as how I've been putting together it's not a sponsored video but I think if you guys are doing
4:13
a DIY camper and you're looking around for roof rck options between Flatline vanco ABC rig and this company
4:21
unaka I really like uh how it's put together so without further Ado we're
4:27
going to get started on this assembly so what we need to start on first is yesterday we took the bar uh
4:36
crossbars and we put them on there to make sure that our offset of the main rails was nice and true so we check that
4:43
off of your list so we've we've unpackaged three bars the next thing we have to do is get the other ones out of
4:52
the uh wrapping and we're going to start doing this
4:58
portion so this is what we're doing this middle
5:04
section is what we're going to be putting
5:11
together so let me scroll [Music]
5:24
down all right so this is what we'll be referencing because this just shows is
5:29
how the hardware kit is supposed to go together they give you a bunch of these
5:35
bags uh of hardware and so we got two more left these are the last two and
5:40
this is what's going to be used to assemble the solar panels to those frame members back there I'm going to unbox
5:47
this and then start laying everything out if you guys have any questions during this live stre stream it doesn't
5:53
have to be on what we're working on in the background it could be anything van related put that in the chat and I'll be
5:59
happy to to answer it for you um yeah but we have this and
6:05
so my goal is that I'm going to be able to individually put these together and
6:13
it looks like that's uh what I'm going to be able to do so what I mean by that is I can do
6:20
one these first two panels that are 200 Watts uh they're not extremely heavy but they're more awkward
6:27
and uh a lot of I do here is solo building so right now my plan is to put
6:34
that on the roof um without any assistance so the first panel second and then these two back
6:40
panels we'll see how rigid that is and uh hopefully it's not you know floppy to where two people don't have to bring it
6:51
up all right let's go ahead and start taking this apart once we unbox this
6:58
we're going to go over some tools that you're going to need to wire This
7:04
Together uh we have some mc4 connectors we have Branch adapters Branch adapters
7:11
with connectors we actually have these mc4
7:19
connectors uh and I just have these out here so that if you guys do have a question during the chat what we can do is Hop on over to the uh drawing pad and
7:27
we can actually draw out and EXP explain do a little lesson on how to hook
7:33
everything up if you guys are interested um other than that it's just going to be me undo uh undoing this and getting this
7:40
organized for myself so I want to bring you guys along for the ride while I'm doing this and uh
7:48
yeah so we're going to go ahead and lay this out so the first two panels we're going
7:54
to start right here and then we're going to grab this so I'll be referencing this chart right
8:01
over here to make sure I'm doing this
8:10
right so one thing I notic in the instructions that's important
8:15
is I was wondering where the three bars go because there's multiple bars and if we scroll all the way up
8:22
there's a photo that does show you that so it's not this one it's a bigger
8:31
photo see if I can find it this one so we have a skinny plain bar in the
8:39
front uh then the second bar back has the holes in it with the slots then
8:45
there's another skinny bar the next one is the second bigger one skinny bar with
8:51
two notches notched out large one and then the two last ones are the
8:59
small small skinny bars so yeah I'm going to leave this up and then we're going
9:04
to get the solar panels out
9:11
first one reason I really like this uh setup and decided to recommend it for
9:18
the custom build that we're doing is because one it maximizes the roof of a Ford
9:24
Transit which sometimes can be challenging especially if you're put in an air conditioning unit or Andor 2 max
9:33
fans and so this solves all those problems but what it also does
9:38
is one thing that's challenging about current roof rex on the market is the
9:44
width so most are not wide enough to accommodate large panels as in like this
9:51
200 watt so what you have to do is you have to
9:58
uh you have to compromise on how much power that you're putting into your van
10:05
build and with solar if you are going to go the solar route you always want to just you know my opinion is always
10:12
maximize the solar as much as you
10:17
can so you can get a benefit uh cuz solar is not you know
10:23
magic it's not there's not a lot of amperage and current so having a big
10:29
solar array is going to you know make it actually a usable
10:34
system instead of just a uh kind of like a trickle charge for your for topping
10:39
off your
10:58
system
16:27
for
17:02
these things are packaged way too
17:11
well I guess that's a good thing but man so trying to destroy all of the box
17:19
so keep the big uh a big portion of your box when you have solar panels you're
17:24
going to want to have that so that you can actually
17:30
you know turn off the solar panel because the solar panel is always on so
17:35
what you want to do is keep stuff like uh this piece of
17:42
foam so you can lay on top of it or the best thing is to have uh the cardboard
17:48
box itself to turn kind of turn the light off uh just you know just to keep
17:53
things safe while you're working on it
18:00
um so for this one what we're probably going to do is we're going to have we're going to K
18:07
this foam and we're going to flip this upside down so that we can mount the rails on
18:13
it and have have a way to work on this while we're uh putting everything
18:20
together so yeah just take your foam solar
18:27
panel there you go why you can move it around without
18:32
scratching
18:57
it
19:17
all right guess so the first panel and then we have our Rail and what's so nice about this
19:25
collaboration is the holes are pre-drilled in the rail perfect solar
19:30
panels are perfect and this is going to be I can already tell this is going to be excellent
19:37
uh very enjoyable
19:57
install
20:03
in a little bit we're going to talk about how we're wiring all of these solar panels
20:08
together so one thing we're not doing is we're not wiring these All in One Bank
20:14
they're going to be three separate Banks then they'll be merged into One Bank
20:20
going to the uh solar charge controller and that is because we have
20:27
different voltages on the panel uh they're obviously you know different wattage different
20:57
size
21:18
now I'm going to bolt these together and I need I want to make sure that all of the uh mc4 connectors are all on one
21:24
side makes it easy much easier to hook up
21:56
[Applause]
23:05
two rails per side so we can do these individually which is going to be really
23:10
nice um and because they have the te- nuts into the 8020 we'll be able to kind
23:16
of slide them in which will be pretty
23:22
nice uh I actually haven't put the fairing on that we built yesterday on yet because I wanted
23:29
to find I wanted to see how I wanted to slide this in I you can lay it in and then try to find the t-nut or you can
23:37
mount this together with the teut as one unit and Slide the whole panel in and
23:42
then just tighten it down um you should be able to just put the
23:48
teut in and then kind of find it kind of wiggle it around to find the nut but if you have a hard time doing that you
23:54
might want to make change the approach
24:07
so the next ones we have are these uh notched out
24:15
pieces these are for our 55 watt
24:26
panels
26:02
[Applause]
26:17
so these don't have a foam pad so what we're going to do
26:23
is I'm just going to use the Box
26:56
St
27:26
[Applause]
29:02
something pretty unique about this uh other than it being as custom as it is according to one of Nate's videos
29:10
explor St life video the 35 watt and the 55 wat panels are one off so they didn't
29:18
exist until this collaboration happened um cuz there wasn't these these panels
29:23
weren't on the market to actually incase uh what was being worked on which I think is really
29:38
cool back this up a little
29:56
bit
30:03
these are the wrong orientations so I need more need more room on the
30:10
table so these go like like
30:26
this
30:43
I'm going to orientate these this way CU I don't there's this skinny part
30:49
of the rail and I want to I'm going to zip tie the cords to the thicker part of the rail when I do my wiring so I'm
30:55
going to put the Box towards the
31:26
top
31:31
grab a screwdriver over here so I can get these boxes
31:39
open and as soon as we do this we'll start assembling this which is always
31:54
fun so we'll see how long we're going to do this live stream we
32:01
probably stop after everything gets mounted and put together unless you guys have a lot of
32:07
questions towards the end of the live stream and then otherwise I'll I'll keep going if you guys have a lot of
32:26
questions same thing with these boxes they're going to be at the very back of the van so I don't want you to be able
32:31
to look up on the van and see wires we're going to keep these forward and then everything's going to
32:37
come down the driver side
32:56
rail
33:34
all right we are one step closer to getting this thing put
33:55
together
34:25
for
34:43
I'm answering that comment really quick Nova see it's not bad thing but was
34:55
slightly
35:19
so yeah the flight line vanco fairing it's black ABS plastic uh I don't it's
35:24
not a it's not really a bad thing but it will slightly warp during high heat um and then it'll go back to normal when
35:31
it's cool uh you might some people may never ever notice it uh there's a way to adjust it so it's not so pronounced but
35:41
um I mean it's super light it's very durable it's about a quarter inch thick so it has it's not really uh quality
35:49
it's just the nature of the plastic and put on there so uh I thought I didn't like the metal
35:57
of the version 1.0 cuz the they do have a version 1.0 you can buy a metal fairing from
36:03
them um they do sell it but uh if you buy the 2.0 roof rack which I guess that
36:10
might be all they're selling now I think they discontinued the 1.0 the 2.0 has the integrated fairing
36:17
notches on the front of the roof rack so I guess you have to go with the plastic
36:23
um and the structure of that faing it's uh it's a
36:29
little kind of a pain to put together so uh yeah I do I do like this
36:35
one I like this one a little bit
36:40
better okay let's get our Hardware kits out and start turning some wrenches here
36:55
so
37:08
so we have a small have a skinny thick washers so
37:15
let's let's look at the instructions and find out how they want to do
37:22
this oh you got the metal fairing Okay cool so uh so the one that's on the
37:28
other van that I'm working on we have I have the metal fairing too which I mean I think it looks
37:33
good I don't have any issues on it um where was
37:39
I okay so let's go all the way
37:47
down how do they want to put this
37:55
together
38:07
all right so we have the spacers so the quarter inch thick solar
38:13
panel spacer so the quarter inch thick is what they want us to use on
38:22
the underside of the panel
38:28
with the channel going up
38:36
okay and the oversized washer [Music] so let's find that piece they have two
38:45
different sizes I'll show you I'll show you here real quick so I need to look in the
38:51
instruction because there's two different sizes and uh I'm not sure I don't see
38:56
the other one here yet in the
39:02
[Music]
39:11
instructions quarter in thick okay we got
39:19
that where does the other one
39:25
go
39:55
for there's an eigh inch spacer but I don't
40:25
see
40:41
so they give you a quarter inch and they give you an E8 inch spacer it must just
40:47
be maybe maybe how you want to do it it's not specific to anything so we're
40:53
going to use the quarter inch first and see where we
41:25
get
42:25
[Music]
42:34
I don't want to lay this directly on the table but uh it is uh well n it's
42:44
okay it's going to say it's kind of touching my foam that I have protected it on the
42:51
bottom kind of raising it up a little too high
43:00
[Applause]
43:19
[Applause]
43:42
I was excited but this uh it turned kind of tedious now because we got to we got to go through and hopefully I have a
43:48
gear wrench so I can just ratchet these Down super
43:55
quick
44:10
all right let's check out these Hardware kits so we've got how many do they want us putting in
44:16
here one two three four
44:25
six so we're going to have one on the ends
44:32
and then we're going to have one and the uh two ends one in the
44:53
middle h
45:07
it's showing to do it in the middle here but we actually don't have there's not a
45:21
hole so this hole is a grounding hole and it actually does not exist on the
45:27
200 wat panels interestingly
45:38
enough uh I'm going to get this bolted in and then I'm going to drill I'm going to drill that out because I do want it
45:44
in the middle so although you shouldn't have to do
45:50
that uh I'm going to do it and I'm going to show I'm going to tell you about a technique so what what I'm going to do
45:56
is I'm going to take a square a metal square and I'm going put it underneath it so when I drill if I miss or move
46:03
it's not going to damage the uh the solar
46:24
panel
48:13
we're not going to tighten these down all the way because we're going to just get it snug and then we're going
48:19
to come back
48:24
uh and drill that
48:41
hole also if you guys are watching if you want to put in the chat uh a better
48:46
time for evening live streams right now I'm just kind of shooting for 6 o' but I think maybe s
48:55
might be better Eastern Standard Time seems right when I get off of the
49:01
live stream there's a couple of questions that come
49:07
through so if you guys are watching right now just put in the comments you know put a
49:14
number Eastern Standard Time to
49:20
uh live stream time
50:25
all right so let's go ahead and get our drill out and let's drill this hole so
50:31
let's get a bolt so we uh or the spacer so we can find out what size drill bit
50:37
we need to use to drill this
50:54
out
51:18
all right I'm going put you guys on a short break while I'm finding this drill
51:24
bit [Music]
51:54
he [Music]
52:24
he [Music]
52:54
he
53:02
[Music]
53:52
okay guys we're back got a drill
54:00
bit so I'm using a quarter
54:07
inch got a piece of uh really thick aluminum sheet piece of
54:13
sheet metal I'm going to slide it underneath here so I don't SM mess
54:24
up
54:29
see if that's enough to get the bolt through
54:39
perfect now remember before you put this on the roof make sure you blow it off or
54:45
take a vacuum to it uh clean all that
54:54
off pretty
55:24
self-explanatory
55:35
[Applause]
55:54
and when you put this on make sure that it's nice and tight to the uh solar panel
56:23
itself
57:53
sh
58:53
yeah
59:02
[Applause]
59:19
[Applause]
59:46
[Applause]
1:01:26
[Applause]
1:01:33
now I'm flipping this panel over uh it still has that aluminum on the inside of it
1:01:40
so I've got everything tightened down I'm not going to be flipping this over again hopefully so I'm going to
1:01:47
take out this foam so I don't embed it with the
1:01:53
metal
1:01:59
so we're going to go over the wiring of
1:02:05
this but we won't be wiring it up in this
1:02:11
episode because it will take will take a long time to do
1:02:23
that
1:02:45
let's go ahead and drill before we actually bolt that
1:02:53
together
1:03:53
[Applause]
1:04:39
so this pack has one screw missing probably have an extra here
1:04:53
somewhere
1:05:43
always good to have extra
1:05:50
parts actually before I do that
1:05:55
one two set these
1:06:02
aside let's open up the second pack see if that was where the rest of them
1:06:13
are all right so we got one two three four
1:06:21
six 7 eight
1:06:53
hm
1:09:16
just organizing all the hardware right here because I think we're missing just a few pieces
1:09:22
of bolt and a nut maybe
1:09:36
spacers all right we got our six bolts for
1:09:41
this and then we have four spacers
1:09:52
left
1:10:22
h
1:10:45
okay so it looks like I'm going to look one more time I think we're short on
1:10:52
Hardware
1:11:06
all right so we don't have enough Hardware to do we're going to have to do this panel
1:11:12
and this panel there's nothing left to do these
1:11:18
so that's a bummer
1:11:25
all right so we're just going to move on and talk about the
1:11:36
wiring okay so we'll get some Hardware tomorrow
1:11:42
but you guys I have to look at the other video does see me finish that that kind
1:11:48
of stinks all right so we have six bolts here we we did what the instructions
1:11:55
said but now We've ran out of Hardware
1:12:07
um next thing so let's go to the video Let's kind of just fast forward this
1:12:12
live stream tonight uh let's fast forward to this so this is
1:12:18
the this is how everything is to be wired up so when you have a solar panel
1:12:25
array you have of different panels variant panel wattages you can't
1:12:32
directly all connect them together at the get-go if you see here at the end we
1:12:37
do have just two outputs a positive and a negative so we can do that at the end
1:12:42
but in the uh beginning we need to separate them before we combine them
1:12:48
based on their wattage and amperage so this video I'm I'm going to
1:12:54
paste this video into
1:13:01
um uh so this is uh let's see
1:13:22
here
1:13:28
okay so this is their video on how to wire these
1:13:34
panels so what uh what we're doing is we're taking the two 200 watt
1:13:40
panels and we're going to combine them so combine the
1:13:47
negatives and then the uh after you combine those two we'll take the second
1:13:52
negative and we're going to bring it all the way to our Branch adapter if you guys don't know what a
1:13:59
branch adapter is a branch adapter
1:14:06
is where' it
1:14:13
go it look like this right here so depending on your setup you have
1:14:21
these guys so so you can have this so this is two into one
1:14:29
output um there's other different varieties so if you're not comfortable
1:14:34
cutting and splicing the mc4 connector you can buy these which are little bit
1:14:40
more user friendly they're flexible um so
1:14:47
this let's see here so these two do the ex exact same
1:14:53
job just one is solid and then one is flexible so this one is from Renegy this
1:15:00
one is from Bogue RV that's on Amazon so not sponsored but there's two
1:15:08
different types so this is what's going to allow you to take for example the first two 200 panel 200 watt panels
1:15:15
you're going to take them so the first one and then the second one combine it and then it comes out
1:15:22
here so that's what this drawing is showing you then once those are hooked into the
1:15:30
uh Branch adapter here you're going to take separately you're going to take the two 55 Watts combine them here on the
1:15:37
negative and then the positive leg is going to come
1:15:43
down and Connect into the branch adapter just like the
1:15:48
first one so the two panels are combined but only one positive is coming coming out the two 55 watts are combined the
1:15:56
one positive is coming out and then finally we have the two 35 Watts same
1:16:02
thing combined and only one positive coming out here so they're inde independent when
1:16:09
you're combining the panel but they're combined at the end when you
1:16:15
combine them as individual units um then those are going to go into
1:16:23
to the uh final Branch adapter so you have one negative coming out and one
1:16:28
positive coming out and then the uh the last thing we're
1:16:34
you're going to do is let me fast forward this just a little
1:16:51
bit and then we're going to finish finish this off by putting two 10p fuses
1:16:56
for the 55 and the 35 watt combination and they look like
1:17:06
this this is what the what the fuse looks like so you're going to need
1:17:13
210 and 120 so we got our 210 and our 120 and now this is going to go right
1:17:22
before your final uh combination so if this uh for
1:17:28
example it's going to gum into here and then I have a two a two: one I need to
1:17:34
go buy a 3: one I just don't have one in the shop but if you guys can
1:17:41
imagine if I had a three to one you know it would look something I'm
1:17:46
just making this up but uh it would look something like that you got three going
1:17:51
into one and that's what you're going to need to
1:17:57
finish this up and that way you're
1:18:03
protected now what I'm going to do and this I always do this this is this is uh to
1:18:11
protect you from the dead the the solar panel doing a direct short
1:18:17
on the roof so this is your first line of defense and then your second line
1:18:23
defense is going to be let me see if I can pull here we
1:18:33
go then your second line of defense is going to be this so this is a dual pole
1:18:38
dual throw uh breaker and notice it's not just a positive it's a positive and
1:18:44
a negative this is also really helpful in
1:18:50
handy when you need to do maintenance on your solar panels so if you need to turn or completely reset your power
1:18:57
system most systems you're going to want to wire this direct to your charge controller so that when the van's off
1:19:03
and you're away it's still charging your batteries while you're gone that's what's really nice about having solar
1:19:09
panels anyway but this if you can imagine if you need to do a hard reset on your system so whether we have like
1:19:16
Renegy or victron or red Arc or something like that uh the your solar panel is so
1:19:23
robust now that there's going to be enough power to keep everything running and so you need something to actually
1:19:28
cut it off so you don't have to physically disconnect the cables and this is what you're going to
1:19:34
use so if you guys are interested in this uh you can find this on our DIY van
1:19:43
build cheat sheet so this is a uh basically an Excel sheet that I put
1:19:48
together for you guys um it's completely free and it's designed to help you with
1:19:54
building your DIY van conversion it's an essentially an Excel sheet over 250 curated
1:20:01
items these are my Amazon purchases from the last three years that's basically what it
1:20:09
is but in here if you wanted to go search so just do like contrl f after you get it you do
1:20:18
breaker and so you see where it says uh right here we've got
1:20:23
uh low voltage minic circuit breaker for solar panels and so all we have to do is take
1:20:30
this we've got the Amazon link right over here and if you guys can see let me
1:20:35
pull up here U boom let me come down there we go
1:20:43
so you can hover over it'll show you the image and now you can
1:20:48
actually look at the part on the list it's very easy to look up so if I if I talk about something during the live
1:20:54
stream it's pretty much going to be a part that's on that list if it's a new part it's something that I'll be adding
1:20:59
to the list so really cool um there's solar panel panels and all kinds of stuff on there
1:21:07
too uh and let's see let's see if I can find that box shows
1:21:12
HT box box here we
1:21:18
go so there is this uh ABS cover power distribution
1:21:25
box okay so see this box this box is made to house this
1:21:31
breaker so it's on the list as well and to find it just go over here on the left
1:21:37
side and see it's under Electrical uh but just do crlf and then you can search for anything you can do
1:21:43
solar you can do tools uh you can type in
1:21:50
crimper you can type in
1:21:55
mc4 uh you can type in let's see what else uh
1:22:02
Max Max fan so it's really cool guess what it's completely free and all you
1:22:08
got to do is go to Van hq.com or you can click on the link in the description below put your name and email address
1:22:14
click download it go straight to your inbox and you guys can use it um we're always updating the list uh so we
1:22:23
um got some more stuff coming on there but uh yeah definitely check it out if you guys are interested I think it'll
1:22:29
really help you out back to this we
1:22:36
are um yeah so that's how everything's going to be put together on the roof as you can
1:22:41
see um so we're going to keep that all organized uh yeah a little bit of bummer that I ran out of Tool uh tools got I
1:22:48
wanted to get this finished uh I'm still going to finish this up after I end the Stream because I need to get the uh the
1:22:54
thumbnail image for this uh video but um
1:23:01
yeah there's anybody that has any questions I'm going to be on here for about five more minutes and then we are
1:23:07
going to call it for the live stream
1:23:12
tonight before I sign off I wanted to go over Odyssey custom vans so that's my
1:23:17
custom van conversion business our current build that is for sale
1:23:23
is in this video right here to my right and uh we took it to Adventure vanent Expo to show it off so if you wanted to
1:23:30
see a quick walk through of where it's at currently we are finalizing the uh
1:23:35
plumbing system at the current moment but in the meantime we took a bunch of photos to show you uh the overall theme
1:23:43
and design of the van uh from the isotherm Cruise 130 fridge the hidden in
1:23:49
floor shower pan pull out drawer slide um or the
1:23:54
heavy duty drawer slide in the back for putting your mountain bikes on uh we got 420 watts of solar this is
1:24:02
that same box so you can see how we've got the breaker and our individual solar
1:24:08
panels put in here now because of this system will be going coming through as
1:24:13
one system we're going to be using one
1:24:21
breaker and uh yeah so that's our uh that's what
1:24:27
the van looks like the German Shepherd is not included but everything in the van is pretty awesome um very proud of
1:24:35
the design Aesthetics uh if you guys do if you are interested in purchas
1:24:40
purchasing this van or if this van is still currently for sale uh as of filming this contact me at sales Odyssey
1:24:48
customs.com um you can also inquire about other vans that may be for sale at
1:24:54
the time of filming as well that's my phone number the best way to get in touch with me is to click this link on
1:24:59
the website so it looks like this right here just click that link and schedule a
1:25:06
time to do a consultation click on a time a date find
1:25:12
a time it'll go right onto my calendar it's a really easy way to connect with me if you're not interested in purchasing this van but you like to have
1:25:19
your own custom van built over here on the left hand side is a quick overview of how to prep for a phone consultation
1:25:26
with me to discuss your personal van build same thing select a date and a
1:25:32
time and you can hop on a call with me and we'll talk about your future build
1:25:39
yeah check that out check out the DI V build cheat sheet and uh if you
1:25:46
guys uh oh all right Michael so where can you get the solar panels from good
1:25:52
question so you can get them from uh explorers. life's
1:25:59
website so no affiliation here but let's go to their website and I'll show you
1:26:05
how to buy it now it's important that you go to
1:26:11
this website
1:26:16
because uh so here we go so here it is explores dolie
1:26:23
right go here this is their website you want to go here CU these panels are specific to this roof rack if
1:26:31
you are interested in actually purchasing this roof rack so
1:26:38
um and their website has a bunch of ads so I'm trying to I'm trying to cover
1:26:43
this up with my screen here um so you're going to go to
1:26:50
shop then you're going to go to
1:26:56
uh how where was it shop electrical no shop components solar
1:27:05
panel all right then you're going to go to these are what you want to get so you
1:27:11
need to get the 200 watt so you need two of the 200 watt
1:27:17
panels 255 and 235 and the reason I say to go to his
1:27:23
website they're going to come from Rich solar I don't think they actually ship them um actually I can confirm that
1:27:30
really quick by looking on the
1:27:37
box yeah so they come directly from Rich solar so I'm just assuming they're drop shipped but I wouldn't buy them off of
1:27:43
Amazon or anything like that because the reason is these two the 55 and the 35
1:27:48
especially are custom panels so if I were you I would go to his
1:27:55
website the price is no different um but go there go there and you get two of the
1:28:02
200s and then two 35s 2 55s so that you can have this setup if
1:28:08
you're you're interested so that's where to get these panels from if you buy the anaka uh if you buy
1:28:16
this this is the addition that we have um
1:28:23
the roof rack comes with all the mounting hardware that you need minus
1:28:29
what we were uh lacking tonight um so we'll just we'll just have to pick up
1:28:34
some more Hardware that's okay um yeah but this is the roof rack
1:28:41
and this is his website where you want to get the panels from or purchase them
1:28:48
from and then this is the video that I Linked In the description or the chat
1:28:56
where you can actually get the solar panels from uh I'm going to copy this link for the
1:29:02
solar
1:29:15
panels if I can
1:29:20
type
1:29:50
for okay so there's their website link in
1:29:57
the
1:30:04
chat all right all right guys if you don't have
1:30:10
any more questions that's going to be it for this live stream I need to get some more Hardware to finish this up so this
1:30:17
is the last video uh going over these panels um we pretty much covered everything everything from the mounting
1:30:23
how everything's going to be arranged how we're going to be doing our wiring we also reference the video so that you
1:30:30
guys know where to go to actually fuse and wire everything together uh as far
1:30:35
as going forward it's really simple what we're going to do is there is two t- nuts over here two
1:30:43
t-nuts over there these t- nuts will go into the 8020
1:30:49
track the solar panel will lay down in it you'll just bolt it to the rack
1:30:54
you'll come over here do the next one and then come over here and then take
1:31:00
these they'll be one unit you'll just put that in um as far as wiring goes you want to
1:31:07
unsnap this and unsnap this and going to have it hanging over the rail to help you you know do some cable
1:31:15
management same thing here you're just want to keep it Loose um what's nice is
1:31:21
you have this space here
1:31:26
um now I'm not going to I'm going to put uh the first panel up there but what I
1:31:33
need to do now since now that I have all the panels I'm going to put the first two I'm going to draw my line and uh I'm
1:31:41
going to look at where my Max fan location is and then once I Define where that's
1:31:46
going to be then I will finish installing these so that's why I'm not doing everything all in one video you'll
1:31:52
have to wait till the final video comes out um that way we can put it everything
1:31:58
together in one clean video so CU we still have to cut out the hole for the max van and we still have to cut out the
1:32:05
hole for the nomatic cooling X2 unit so the first two panels can go in
1:32:12
and just kind of hang it up there I like to do that just so they don't get you know damaged while we're building stuff
1:32:18
in the shop but these two panels will uh we'll hide them away safely while we uh
1:32:26
wait for the other two components to come in
1:32:32
um the max fan will be this last thing that goes in because the X2 and this is
1:32:39
just from Builder experience so you could put everything on the roof connect it and then try to saw and drill and
1:32:46
stuff like that but you need space to work so that stuff is not getting metal shavings and stuff like that all over
1:32:52
the place so it's kind of uh as I build I work on one project I
1:32:59
pause you have to really be able to multitask pretty well with this uh van building so half of this is going in
1:33:07
we're going to pause X2 is going to come in we're going to get that installed cleanly done 100% because there's only
1:33:15
one place that the uh this AC unit can go once that's
1:33:20
in uh we'll see where we can uh have some adjustment for the fan um uh the
1:33:28
current customer will working with we'd like to have the fan up here so close to
1:33:34
this so just a little bit of an adjustment if possible I'm not sure if we're going to be able to do that but
1:33:39
we're going to try um just a just a couple inches up here and then um yeah
1:33:46
from there we will get that put in get this put in and
1:33:52
then once the air conditioner and the max fan have their home they're sealed up and ready to go we're going to clean
1:33:58
the whole entire roof off we'll come back with our self-leveling lap cyant
1:34:05
we'll coat all everything on the roof we'll Co coat our holes we drilled for
1:34:10
the wires going solar panel wires going through the roof so we'll put that in um
1:34:18
cuz we want to everything needs to be clean no aluminum dust uh no steel shavings from when we cut
1:34:24
out the holes clean Roof then we'll lap Seal Seal everything get some lap cyant
1:34:31
uh then we'll put the solar panels all back in the roof then we'll be done with
1:34:37
the roof so that's the that's the right way to do it um you don't want to do double work
1:34:45
so that's our approach but yeah look forward to the
1:34:50
video where where I show I'll be putting the front fairing on we'll be doing the air conditioning
1:34:58
the dedic I mean the max vanan domatic n Matic cooling X2 Max vanan and
1:35:07
solar uh so we'll cover behind the scenes and that will be a wrap on the roof and the cool thing is after you do
1:35:14
that all you got to do is work on the inside of the van where we'll be cutting
1:35:19
out the windows and then it just kind of goes windows then we'll go down to the floor then we'll put in the interior
1:35:26
paneling um well we'll do their insulation first interior interior
1:35:32
paneling and then uh but you guys will see the whole process so stick around
1:35:37
stay tuned for future live streams but if you guys are not already subscribed to the channel get subscribed to Van bid
1:35:43
HQ always have cool videos coming out make sure you guys like this video If
1:35:48
you enjoyed it share to anybody that is doing a a roof wreck in installation or they're putting solar panels on their
1:35:54
roof um and may need some help uh laying everything out especially like this uh
1:36:01
system and then uh yeah that's it if you guys don't have any other questions we are going to call it a night and we'll
1:36:08
look forward to uh chatting with you in our future live
1:36:20
stream
