the go live is in about 10 seconds and
0:03
we'll
0:05
start there we go hey guys welcome back
0:07
to the shop we are working on the shop
0:11
build right now we are fixing it up for
0:13
the show for peace love and vans and
0:16
today we're specifically talking about
0:17
the electrical so we've worked on all
0:20
the 12volt accessories so they're all
0:22
ready to go but the last thing we need
0:24
to do is our four
0:26
breaker uh 120 volt breaker system so
0:31
we're using that for we're using Blue C
0:34
systems we're using their 360 panel
0:36
systems and today we're going to be
0:38
talking about how to wire the 1210 model
0:42
now the 1210 model is uh pretty
0:45
challenging because if you've gone
0:46
online and you tried to wire the 1210
0:48
panel model uh the instructions are
0:52
pretty vague it's pretty Universal with
0:54
the instruction booklet that you get
0:55
with it and it doesn't really explain
0:58
the uh bus bar
1:00
and the ground and AC uh neutral side
1:05
that you have to hook all together
1:07
that's completely left out so if this is
1:09
all Greek to you don't worry I'm going
1:11
to explain the whole entire thing we're
1:13
going to hop over here to the table
1:14
really quick and we're going
1:16
to uh go through the process of
1:20
connecting a 120 volt breaker to your uh
1:25
camper van so if you've seen this before
1:28
this is the unit that we're talking
1:29
about so this is the 1210 120 volt AC
1:34
breaker uh it gives you uh 4 15 amp
1:38
Breakers and you can use them for if
1:40
you're using a air air conditioning
1:43
system so if you have a 12volt air
1:45
conditioning system this is what uh you
1:48
might see something like this in your
1:49
van or RV for that matter some people
1:52
watching this actually may have one of
1:53
these in their
1:55
RV um you've got a breaker for
1:58
appliances uh for refriger
2:00
refrigerator so think of this as the
2:02
refrigerator that is running off of
2:04
household power and then like TV stereo
2:07
for us we're going to come over here and
2:10
use this uh sticker kit and so something
2:14
that's more common that we're going to
2:16
be using is something uh on the lines of
2:19
outlets so we're going to have two of
2:21
these outlets in our van so where are
2:24
they going to go on this setup then
2:26
we're going to have a microwave plugged
2:28
into it
2:30
and then we're going to have a water
2:31
heater so water heater microwave and
2:34
then two of these
2:36
Outlets they're going to be controlled
2:37
by this 120 volt breaker and this
2:40
breaker is over here on my right hand
2:44
side and I'm going to put this uh camera
2:46
on the
2:47
tripod and I'm going to
2:49
explain what everything is right here so
2:54
this photo is the front so that's how
2:57
you actually turn it off turn it on
2:59
whenever the breaker pops so just like
3:02
your household panel in your
3:05
home
3:06
now on this side we
3:10
have the this is the schematics for how
3:12
to wire everything up and on this left
3:15
hand side uh we have everything's
3:18
missing over here so the part that's
3:22
missing is this right here it's this uh
3:26
these two bus bars that come with the
3:29
kit so they're in a little plastic bag
3:31
separate to this and a lot of people
3:33
don't actually know what to do with them
3:36
so what we're going to do is we're going
3:37
to show you how this is all laid
3:40
out and how this is all going to come
3:43
together um because it looks pretty wild
3:46
when you look at it it's not a simple
3:48
plug-and playay uh although when you get
3:50
it to this point it'll be that way so
3:54
after you watch this video you'll know
3:56
how to actually hook this up properly
3:59
and
4:00
um I think it's a good system to use
4:02
because it it's a very very low profile
4:04
and it's a very very
4:06
clean 12 volt breaker panel uh a lot of
4:10
the panels that are in
4:11
RVs or Camper vans uh they're a big
4:15
plastic box they're kind of clunky they
4:16
take up a bunch of space um this takes
4:19
up very little space when we're finished
4:22
explaining this we'll flip it over and
4:23
I'll show you what the other side looks
4:24
like other than a
4:27
picture but let's start start off with
4:31
uh how is a 120 volt breaker working in
4:34
your van specifically so the first thing
4:37
that's happening is you're probably
4:39
going to have an inverter that is
4:42
supplying the uh 110 or 120 volt power
4:45
to your
4:47
van and so that 110 120 volt power
4:50
coming into your van is going to come in
4:53
through a pretty heavy gauge cable it's
4:55
probably going to be an eight gauge or a
4:57
10 gauge cable coming from your Inver
4:59
inverter and from there you're going to
5:02
have
5:03
your your hot wire which is the black
5:06
wire you're going to have your neutral
5:08
which is your white and then you're
5:09
going to have your ground which is your
5:11
green and these three are going to be
5:14
what is going to go and Supply the power
5:17
to the breaker uh before it goes across
5:21
the breaker and then supplies the power
5:23
to your actual device so the protection
5:26
from a breaker comes in between where
5:28
your power is coming in so the AC hot
5:31
side which is the black wire so where
5:33
it's coming in to where these yellow uh
5:38
ter ring terminals that I have here
5:40
they're actually bringing it to the
5:42
device so I'll pull all this away and
5:45
then I'll go step by
5:47
step so here's your breaker here is your
5:51
where all your AC neutral wires are
5:53
going to be put together and then over
5:56
here on the left are going to be where
5:58
all your ground wires go
6:00
um and I'll explain how that works as
6:03
well so from your inverter you're going
6:06
to have this black
6:10
wire and then the second wire is going
6:13
to be
6:14
your white which is your neutral and
6:17
then the ground is going to come over
6:19
here so if you can see where I have the
6:22
uh the red caps these red caps are going
6:26
to be what I crimp onto the inverter
6:29
cable now this is just for demo purposes
6:32
right now I'm actually going to take
6:33
this apart a little bit when I get in
6:35
the band to finish it up but this is how
6:38
our power is coming to
6:39
in so just imagine that these three
6:43
plugs are actually
6:46
um being
6:52
used okay so next that we have these
6:56
three
6:58
connected we need to actually connect
7:01
the unit itself so that is the 1210
7:05
unit you have a 12volt side this unit
7:07
and that is to operate these led
7:10
indicators right here so these led
7:12
indicators are going to tell you uh
7:14
green if it's on and then uh it'll
7:18
indicate which one is tripped
7:21
so this two 12vt lines the positive and
7:25
negative they're going to supply the
7:26
light the back light behind here so this
7:29
is the panel and then here's your
7:31
stickers so you can imagine once you put
7:33
your stickers on there you're going to
7:35
have uh a backlight so that you can read
7:38
this in the dark if you need to get to
7:40
it um plus it just looks pretty
7:43
cool but you need to supply this
7:46
breaker uh 12 volts for those lights so
7:50
this top wire up here is going to be
7:52
your 12vt positive and then your
7:55
negative and you can double dip on this
7:58
wire by by uh oversizing it so I have a
8:03
12 gauge wire going to this and that's
8:06
going to allow me to take my ground so
8:09
this uh AC ground
8:11
wire and it's going to allow me to not
8:14
only ground it to this bar but also this
8:18
is going to go to my uh ground for my
8:22
van itself so that way I can just can
8:25
neatly put all my grounds here so this
8:28
is the ground for the LED this is the
8:31
ground for the
8:34
AC and then this is the uh ground that
8:37
actually goes to the ground of the van
8:40
so all those three are put together on
8:42
this this is our ground uh they call
8:46
it they call it a safety ground but you
8:49
can actually see this is not depicted in
8:53
this picture and that's why a lot of
8:55
YouTube videos online are uh complaining
9:00
that it doesn't have that information so
9:02
I'm giving you all that information so
9:05
this video is pretty much five or six
9:06
YouTube videos all crammed into one
9:10
video so this is where all your grounds
9:12
are going to go Powers the LED grounds
9:15
the breaker system itself and then this
9:20
is that negative for the uh the lights
9:22
on the panel so that's your 12vt side so
9:26
let's get back to the 110 or 120 volt
9:31
side so once you have the 12 done now
9:34
you're going to connect your hot wire
9:37
here like we were talking about so
9:39
that's your black
9:41
wire and then the white neutral is going
9:44
to go on this bus bar here into this red
9:49
one and then the ground's going to come
9:51
over here so you can see that all of
9:54
these uh grounds are going to the
9:58
ground
10:01
now you can actually go and find the
10:03
wires that you need to actually have a
10:07
uh breaker for so for our scenario what
10:10
we're doing is we need we need
10:14
a microwave breaker we need a water
10:18
heater breaker and then we're going to
10:20
do uh we've got Ford cabin outlets and
10:23
then we've got uh rear cabin Outlets
10:26
let's see if that's a sticker on here
10:29
so essentially there's a bunch of
10:31
stickers you get to pick what you want
10:32
but you peel these off and they go on
10:34
here and so each one of those
10:36
corresponds to whatever breaker circuit
10:38
that you
10:40
have so once you've identified where
10:43
your wires are now you can actually take
10:46
the wires from
10:48
your uh receptical or whatever it is so
10:52
just imagine that this wire is connected
10:54
to
10:55
this so this first circuit for example
10:58
is going to be my circuit that I need to
11:00
connect to get power from my outlet so
11:03
I'm simply going to take the hot wire
11:07
and that is getting connected to
11:10
here uh by the way this is
11:14
important the stud that you're looking
11:16
for to be able to put all these yellow
11:20
ones this is the is what you want so you
11:23
want the 810 stud is not the gauge of
11:25
the wire the 810 stud is
11:29
the screw that
11:31
is uh is the eyelet so that's
11:35
the that's the circle part that actually
11:38
it's the diameter of this circle so that
11:41
allows it to actually screw into here
11:43
neatly get a good
11:46
connection so all the yellow ones are
11:48
this
11:50
810 and then all of
11:53
the red ones these are kind of hard to
11:57
find most autobo stores or auto part
12:00
stores or they all stop at 10 gauge and
12:03
that wire that I have is actually eight
12:04
gauge you may have a 10 gauge wire uh I
12:08
oversized it um for my 3,000 watt
12:10
inverter so I kind of oversized almost
12:14
all the
12:15
wires um what's nice about that is if
12:17
you do want to add multiple circuits so
12:19
say you had one outlet and maybe you
12:21
wanted to add another one you have a
12:23
little bit of of room but again that's
12:27
based on how many amps your breaker is
12:29
this one's 15 amps so that limits us to
12:31
only one Outlet per circuit to be
12:35
safe so the red ones are this
12:38
eight with a quarter inch ring and then
12:41
the yellow ones
12:43
are they are a 12 to 10 gauge capable
12:48
ring terminal with an 8 to 10
12:51
stud or screw it' be an easier way to
12:54
explain
12:57
it so so once you have the black wire
13:01
here for the breaker your next one
13:03
coming in is going to be your AC neutral
13:08
or your white wire and so all of those
13:11
are going to be combined onto
13:17
this and so that is all together now we
13:21
do not have a gr we do not have a ground
13:25
over here so our grounds are separate
13:28
from our AC
13:30
neutral so this is the three parts of
13:33
your wire so this is the hot
13:35
side this is your neutral and then the
13:39
last one is going to be your
13:42
ground okay and then what we're going to
13:45
do is just
13:46
uh repeat for each one so we'll have our
13:49
two outlets the next one down will be
13:52
our microwave and then next one down
13:54
will be our water
13:55
heater and that's pretty much it that's
13:58
usually all I have in a van
14:01
um it's it's a very simple basic circuit
14:04
doesn't get complicated um these two
14:08
outlets break into basically four so you
14:11
have four
14:12
plugs uh and you're only limited by you
14:15
know how much current you can provide to
14:17
them in this
14:19
one each one of these is 15 amps so
14:23
pretty much it'll just be just like your
14:26
household
14:27
Outlet so once those are all connected
14:31
um that's that's pretty much it so the
14:33
you're going to have three wires at the
14:35
end of the day coming into this box
14:38
you're going to have your inverter
14:40
supplied by your wire coming power from
14:43
your
14:44
inverter you're going to need your
14:46
12volt wire that's going to carry 12vt
14:49
power to the Circuit for the breaker
14:54
itself and then you're going to have
14:56
whatever you're using over here as your
14:59
receptacle or whatnot now there's this
15:01
one very skinny wire right
15:04
here there's a skinny white wire and
15:07
they're wanting you to connect this to
15:09
the AC neutral and so what this wire is
15:12
is it's picking up
15:15
um
15:17
this uh whatever it's going through here
15:20
so this is actually what connects it to
15:22
the circuit board for the breaker so if
15:25
you didn't have this little sense wire
15:27
I'm calling it
15:29
then you know this breaker would not
15:31
know what's happening over here uh for
15:34
if it had a
15:38
fault and so that's it you know one two
15:41
three for your components um so now I'm
15:44
going to take this off the tripod and
15:48
then we'll go into the van and talk a
15:49
little bit more about where this is and
15:51
where it's what it's
15:52
supplying but that's for the 1210 Bluey
15:56
systems breaker uh let's take this all
16:00
off the table and then we'll show I'll
16:02
show you the other side so you can
16:04
actually get
16:05
a actually see what it looks like other
16:08
than a print out I was trying to figure
16:10
out how to do this live and not be on
16:13
the
16:15
computer um so we'll pick this board up
16:19
and if you guys want to know what this
16:21
uh shiny stuff is that's actually a
16:24
protective heat coating so it's actually
16:27
what they put on the under side of a
16:29
vehicle to protect from exhaust heat so
16:31
on the left hand side of this we have a
16:33
blocked off chamber for the uh W basto
16:37
so I just wanted to have pretty much the
16:39
ultimate
16:40
protection um and then this uh
16:43
electrical is a away there's
16:45
a space between this and the heater so
16:49
it doesn't get hot and then if we flip
16:51
this
16:54
around this is our finished panel that
16:57
actually goes in the van so we have our
16:59
heat coming out here is our finish panel
17:01
and then over here is where this breaker
17:04
panel goes and there's a bunch of pieces
17:07
to this so you have this piece that
17:10
bolts on that is what you actually put
17:13
your stickers on and then see right here
17:15
this is just like a normal household
17:20
breaker in this panel we'll do a quick
17:25
inside the van so we've got all the
17:27
panels pulled off of our power
17:29
system so this panel is actually going
17:33
right there where those wires are these
17:35
are coming
17:37
out and and tomorrow what we're going to
17:40
do is we're going to connect all these
17:42
wires so each one of these is 12
17:45
gauge the two yellow one is for the
17:48
microwave one is for the hot water
17:50
heater and then
17:52
our
17:54
marine
17:56
uh 123 wire this one is going to go for
18:00
the top box of the kitchen countertop so
18:02
that outlet and then this is a bottom
18:05
Outlet so I'll show you where those are
18:08
the heater is right
18:09
there and we've already gotten all the
18:15
wires they already ran so we've got our
18:18
12vt for the water pump we've got our
18:20
110 for the hot water heater and then
18:23
we've actually got a cargo light that
18:24
we're putting in
18:26
there so we'll have some cargo light
18:28
shining
18:30
over um but once that's done there's
18:33
nothing else to do in here I'm just kind
18:34
to have this really
18:35
cool red light and if you guys saw some
18:39
previous live streams you'll know what
18:40
that's
18:41
for but let's hop over here and I'll
18:44
show you the last part of this live
18:45
stream if you guys have any questions
18:47
put those in the chat but uh ignore this
18:50
nest of wires this is just all extra
18:53
length um we're going to consolidate
18:56
that before uh we go to the
18:59
trip but just to show you we're gonna do
19:02
the same thing this is pretty much the
19:04
same layout as a John and Susan's van so
19:09
what John and Susan are going to have is
19:10
they're going to have a
19:12
upper Outlet that's up here so that they
19:16
can access it to work on their induction
19:17
stove I mean cook on their induction
19:19
stove that type of thing so this one
19:22
goes up here so that's why this one is
19:25
longer and then down here and this uh
19:29
foot well where we have the ABC
19:33
rig step system this is going to hold
19:37
our electrical box for the other outlets
19:39
the other Outlet will go right here and
19:42
I've already mapped it out to where we
19:43
have a lagoon table Mount so the Box
19:45
will go right here so that this
19:48
uh this changing height back and forth
19:52
doesn't interrupt the box and then we
19:55
have this ran so our top Outlet our
19:57
bottom Outlet and then this
20:00
one as you can
20:02
see uh it says induction stove but it's
20:05
really going to be a microwave um but
20:08
this is pretty cool if you can find
20:09
these 12 gauge heavyduty extension cords
20:14
um I like to use these because they're
20:16
really good for
20:17
troubleshooting because of a microwave
20:19
and a hot water heater typically have a
20:20
residential style plug on the end what
20:23
this does is this has a built-in LED
20:25
light so when you turn on the circuit
20:28
this glow is either green or orange
20:30
depending on the heavy duty cable you
20:33
find but not only is this really a nice
20:36
heavy duty cable it's not going to get
20:38
cut or scraped but you have this light
20:41
so when the circuit's on and this light
20:43
is on you know that this has power going
20:46
to it so it's not a guess if there's
20:48
something happening between the uh back
20:52
there where the battery system is where
20:54
the breaker is and then where this plug
20:56
is you can just quickly identify that
20:58
the lights on it's got power um and then
21:01
we have the same thing for the uh hot
21:04
water heater that you can't can't see
21:06
over
21:08
there um yeah but that is pretty much it
21:12
for uh this live stream just a quick
21:15
live stream to go over the uh
21:18
1210 360 system from Bluey systems so
21:23
it's not a sponsor video it's just this
21:26
thing is an awesome piece of equip
21:29
and I really like to use it
21:32
however this uh is really hard to
21:35
understand for most people um even
21:38
myself until I had to watch a bunch of
21:39
videos and then you know read about it
21:42
and installed in Thomas's van which is
21:44
Marine one but after doing all that hope
21:47
this video helps um guys if you are not
21:50
subscribed to Van bid HQ make sure you
21:52
guys are subscribed and definitely check
21:54
out the new van HQ website so we've
21:57
reent revamp the website we've got all
21:59
the blog post on there uh tons of
22:02
information on how to do your DIY camper
22:05
van build lots of information and one of
22:08
the best pieces of information is the
22:10
DIY van build cheat sheet if you don't
22:12
know what that is that is a free cheat
22:14
sheet that I made for you guys
22:16
completely free and it is an Excel sheet
22:18
of the last three years of all of my
22:20
Amazon purchases uh it's organized from
22:23
all the categories that I use so
22:26
Electrical uh fittings
22:28
um solar panels stuff like that so check
22:32
out van Builder hq.com and then within
22:35
the page there'll be a link to click on
22:37
the DIY van build cheat sheet I think
22:39
it'll really help you out with your DIY
22:40
van build especially if you're having a
22:42
hard time looking for parts and you want
22:43
to know what I actually use in the shop
22:46
those are the parts that I've actually
22:47
bought over the past three years it's
22:50
about 250 uh items on that list so
22:53
there's a bunch of selection a lot of
22:55
Renegy components solar panels
22:58
uh uh different types of connectors uh
23:01
the tool section is really valuable so
23:04
it's all the weird tools that I use um
23:06
these tools are not too weird but we've
23:09
got uh some crimpers we've got some wire
23:14
strippers uh this tool right here is one
23:17
of my favorite for stripping
23:19
wires um just a bunch of stuff like that
23:22
and uh yeah check it out the DIY van
23:25
build cheat sheet it's on Van van
23:27
