hey everyone welcome back to the live stream today today we are talking about the uh Renegy
1:30
bt2 uh Bluetooth communication module so I have two of these and I was just going
1:36
to go ahead and take this apart and not do a live stream but I thought I'd bring you guys along so that you can learn how
1:42
to pair it um also learn about what I found out about the Hub
1:49
itself uh a couple things on what it can do and what it can't do and then uh we're going to clean up
1:56
some of this wiring over here so it's not a script live stream so I don't have like a whole list that I'm going through
2:02
I'm basically cleaning this up taking the Hub out and replacing it with these
2:08
two Bluetooth sensors the system that I'm uh putting together here if we go
2:15
over to the computer let me pull this back up so what I'm using is the Renegy 1 M1
2:25
controller zoom in here here we go
2:30
so this is uh something reny came out with that's a new product so this is the Renegy 1 M1 they also have one that's
2:38
called the core and the core uh looks a little bit different it doesn't have the
2:43
buttons but the screen is pretty much the same uh let's actually scroll down here and see if they
2:48
[Music] show uh okay they don't show it so what
2:54
this unit does is it's kind of like a victron interface
3:01
if you guys have seen those in other Vans where it's displaying uh different
3:06
uh Communications from the system so you know how the inverter's working how Shore power's coming in solar coming in
3:13
battery state of charge stuff like that and if we scroll down to the
3:20
bottom they have a line of and this is not sponsored this just good information
3:25
for you guys they have uh different products here and most of the products are the Rigo
3:34
line so their Rigo line is their off-grid system uh for Vans it's a great system I
3:42
think but you know if you have like a a cabin tiny home something like that something you want to run off grid these
3:49
are a little bit more uh specific to that so the way that the modules are
3:57
um it's just uh you know they have it so it can tie to the uh power grid I think
4:05
they got a new system anyway we're going to get too far into that I just wanted to show you that this is the system that
4:11
we're going to be communicating with this right here is our uh DC to DC 50
4:17
amp we have two of these and so today we're going to solve the communication problem that I have with these two uh
4:24
it's because of me it's not because of Renegy so I called them up got on the phone and we went through a couple
4:30
things uh they were advertising that this Hub behind me can have um you can
4:39
have one communication Port so you can have a uh a bt2 module plugged into the Hub
4:49
and with one bt2 you can communicate with all your Renegy devices so that is
4:55
true however you can't have multiple devices so so the wording is kind of weird so
5:02
you can have one DC todc charger one solar controller One battery
5:08
system um but when you double up any of the communication devices so if you have
5:14
two DC to DC Chargers like I do it can't it can only find one it can't see two
5:20
and it will never see two so what I'm doing and what we talked on the phone about was we're gonna take the Hub out
5:28
because my application is not you know I'm kind of going overboard with the amount of controllers here so
5:34
those two uh we're going to solve that today by installing two separate bt2
5:41
communication uh Bluetooth dongles so we're going to disconnect it and then we're going to connect it
5:47
individually to those two and I'm sure everything's going to go smoothly but
5:53
we're doing this live so if it doesn't work I'll just um figure it out and then I'll do another
5:58
video but but if you guys are joining the live stream today ask any questions in the comment in the chat uh it doesn't
6:06
have to be related to the M1 controller that I'm working on it can be anything but yeah so this system uh I
6:13
think it's pretty cool uh if you are on a DIY van build
6:18
budget I at this current moment I don't see why this is not a good uh solution
6:24
for you there's uh the DC home app is what
6:30
is going to be used on your phone to pair and set up the devices and then for
6:36
monitoring this unit is going to be your monitoring unit um it's better uh
6:42
according to reny it's better to do everything with the phone as far as pairing to get everything in in order so
6:49
it communicates properly and then this unit will automatically populate
6:55
afterwards with the updated devices uh there is a way to add devices
7:01
with this unit and not use your phone however the more successful option currently is to use
7:08
the phone app get everything set uh set up and then have that main screen uh
7:14
populate all the information now you can take this one step uh further um they have a
7:22
subscription service again this is not sponsored I'm just telling you guys what this uh program is all about they have a
7:28
subscription service where you can get more in-depth information uh remotely now the unit
7:35
itself will communicate with your phone without an internet connection however if you want to have
7:43
the remote capabilities uh let's just say your van's in storage and you've got
7:48
the power system on so that your batter say stay topped off or something like that and you want to log in and see what
7:54
your van is doing you would have to have a hotspot separate in your van
8:00
um that can connect to the Renegy and then do that so it have an internet
8:06
connection for example but if you have a garage like I
8:11
do or your home garage and you're in the shop right now it's automatically connected to my shop Wi-Fi so it's on
8:18
shop Wi-Fi so if the van is at your home and it's you know in uh these are weird examples if your
8:27
van is at your house and for some reason you want to check on your van while you're on a trip I don't know why maybe
8:32
your Van's out parked outside your house you can do that so uh but You'
8:39
have to have this subscription to do that that doesn't mean the device won't work without a subscription if you're in
8:46
the van you have the phone app everything will work uh no problem you don't have to do the
8:54
subscription um there's some other things so you guys have seen me install
8:59
the red Arc system in Thomas' van you saw me install the Garmin power switch
9:04
into hi van as well so these are all devices that are controlled via Bluetooth so they control the 12vt
9:10
electrical circuit via Bluetooth and uh Bry also has these smart plugs so
9:18
you can imagine if you had a home and not a van you might have window and door sensors motion sensors and uh like a
9:24
light turning on and off now you can just translate that to
9:30
your van if you want to have this stuff in your van operate uh like your home uh
9:36
there's it's pretty pretty seamless it's the same unit so it's going to it's going to operate both ways um I haven't
9:43
tried anything of these yet but you know if you do have that permanent Wi-Fi
9:49
connection uh if you have like a I don't know like a Verizon hotspot or you have maybe
9:56
starlink or something like that something that's continually on you could maybe use this as some type of uh
10:03
don't quote me on this but like a security system where you have a motion sensor and door sensor that you could
10:09
put in the van um those are just giving you guys ideas I'm not telling you that that's
10:17
what you uh are going to be using this for down here are the compatible devices
10:23
so in the van behind me just so you guys understand what we're going to be working with we have the uh the
10:31
batteries right here we have the smart uh lithium 100 amp hour uh lithium iron
10:38
phosphate batteries they do not have the built-in Bluetooth the ones that I have
10:43
however they do have the network ports going in and out so that you can daisy chain all the batteries together so I
10:49
have six batteries Daisy chained together the first cable which is the Uplink going into the
10:55
batteries that cable uh goes Direct ly um
11:00
because uh we said I had a chance to plan this whole entire buildout there is
11:06
a network cable a physical network cable plugged into the M1 all the way through
11:11
the walls under the floor and comes back into here and goes directly to the
11:16
battery as its first communication spot so if you can pre-plan to have a
11:22
hardwired line uh I would suggest that it's not that the Bluetooth is not going
11:28
to work it's that's I mean hard uh connection is
11:33
is the best so we had those batteries uh directly
11:39
connected to the controller today we're going to take the two 50 amp dc
11:45
todc uh controllers up here and we're going
11:50
to individually connect them to with the app we are also using uh it's actually
11:57
not on the screen but it is a 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter uh it's the
12:04
Rigo uh inverter so it has built-in Bluetooth communication so no cables
12:09
necessary to communicate with the M1 and since we have the combo DC to DC
12:16
and mppp charge controller we just have to have one connection we don't have a separate
12:22
solar so the solar and the DC todc charging is integrated into this unit uh if we come on down they give you
12:30
some examples uh there's a product I bought from Ry
12:37
before work with the new one so this is it's uh how you can supplement that if you've already bought products and try
12:43
to figure out how you can make them work with this new
12:49
system and let's
12:56
see that's pretty much it um what we're also going to be looking at the van is
13:01
if I go here this is a camera shot from inside the van so there's uh my other
13:07
camera is in the van so this is a live shot of the M1 controller and I'm
13:12
showing you this live so that when we come through here and I'm trying to do some fancy
13:18
stuff here but when we go through the app we can go back and check
13:23
on the uh controller inside the van so we can kind of go back and forth that way
13:30
you can guys see what I'm doing here and how it affects the the
13:35
connection I don't have a camera going down here I'm going to be working down here I'll just talk through it and if
13:41
you guys have any questions just put those in the chat but I'm going to go ahead and start taking these covers off
13:46
and I'll try to briefly explain the DC to DC uh combo charger over here and how
13:53
we have things uh put together but we're going to go ahead and get started so that this uh all my stuff
14:01
is pretty much long- winded as you guys know if you guys are familiar with the
14:06
channel um sometimes that's good especially with a like a detailed situation like this so the first thing I
14:13
need to do is I need to find my uh Communication cable that I have Plugged
14:19
In which is my gray one I want to make sure that one just stays and I don't touch
14:25
it uh I'm going to first start by taking off this cover
14:31
and be careful there's very very tiny screws and it's extremely easy to lose
14:37
these screws so I'm just going to put it over
14:44
here uh I just have one screw holding this on and uh it's cuz I have the uh
14:49
drawer in here but it one screw is enough to hold this cover on no
14:55
problem now with this uh DC todc combo charger you're going to have um a couple
15:03
different communicate uh ways for it to communicate you're going to have at the very bottom here is the ignition sense
15:11
so if you have a small smart alternator uh the voltage profile is a
15:16
little bit different so it's not the same as if you cranked up your engine and you have an old school alternator that's spitting out a certain
15:24
voltage the smart alternator will uh change from low to high and that range
15:31
uh can make this system see that the van is off and not on so it doesn't turn the
15:38
charging on so what you need to do is go through and try to find a signal wire so
15:46
a wire that gets hot when you turn on the
15:51
ignition um so you know when you turn the key on and your vehicle makes that
15:59
dinging sound or whatever that position whatever wire is hot and you can probably go on forums to
16:05
find out which one um I used a
16:10
upfitters uh dongle we used it in a um past live stream I don't not sure which
16:17
one but you find a 12vt sense wire that's hot when you turn the key on that
16:22
wire connects to here and so when the van is cranked up and running this system knows that the alternate the
16:28
engine's running the alternator is putting out power and to go ahead and turn this on
16:35
now when this turns on it's going to uh in effect wake up the alternator
16:43
and the alternator is going to because it's drawing power it's going to start to put out power so that smart
16:49
alternator is going to uh increase voltage and then that will uh start
16:56
charging your batteries with the pro profile that you have set in here which you want to have lithium if you have lithium batteries that's why this light
17:03
on the very right is blue so there's a button where you can cycle through and
17:08
find the uh you know what if you have lead acid
17:14
AGM stuff like that anyways the first one is the sense wire turns this on the
17:20
second one is the uh voltage sense so that one goes directly connects directly
17:27
to uh the first battery that's in your system because it could be the only one
17:33
or it could have two but it it just needs to see the voltage uh for the charge profile and
17:41
then one of these will be the alternator power coming in and then one will be the
17:49
uh your solar panel power coming in so this is your power coming into the
17:55
charger figures out how to manage it uh and then at the bottom over here it spits it out and begins to charge your
18:02
system today this very top cable is what we're going to be working with so I'm
18:08
going to go ahead and undo this cable uh and for I have the power on
18:16
because I need the lighting but we're going to go ahead and take this out so this cable right
18:23
here I'm going to take out and this one as you guys can see I had this connected
18:30
to the hub cuz I wanted the Hub to have my two Renegy uh DC DCS and I wanted
18:38
them to go here but obviously we can't do that now that we've figured that
18:43
out um so I have a couple fuses this Hub
18:49
does need 12volt power right here to power it if you are using this for the correct purpose the one that says
18:56
primary that one is where where your Bluetooth bt2 sensor uh or Bluetooth
19:02
dongle goes to communicate these inputs so if you have uh if you have all
19:09
your batteries here or you have a battery uh a solar charge controller and
19:15
then uh uh maybe an inverter this now this has to be their
19:22
series that's compatible say you have those three then you would wire them one
19:28
at a time in each individual Port so set the first unit up then unplug it set the
19:37
second unit up then unplug it set the third unit up unplug it and then when
19:42
each one of those have been mapped into the app and found then you can go back
19:48
reconnect them all and it should communicate like it's supposed to what I was doing wrong is I'm connecting the
19:55
same unit which you're not allowed to at the current moment with the DC to DC
20:00
combo Chargers you can only do one of those not two all right so I'm going to take this
20:07
unplug it uh I'm going to keep this plugged in because I got to figure out where my
20:14
fuse where I put the fuse on this
20:20
one so let's like that hang [Music]
20:25
down and if you guys are wondering why I have this uh Victor on uh battery
20:30
monitor and uh smart shunt is because I wanted to it's the first time using this
20:35
Renegy system and I just wanted to put it in because I was curious at uh the
20:42
volt the power percentage and uh actually haven't looked at it in a
20:57
while so we got
21:02
94.3 and Renegy is saying 88.6
21:09
5 so there is a discrepancy however I have not done enough power Cycles to be
21:15
confident that this has found its uh kind of home level for the
21:22
power because the van's been off mostly and we've you know only taken it to a show so I mean it hasn't been on the
21:28
Road or anything like that all right so next step is I cheated
21:35
a little bit and I went and I took the last port of the
21:41
battery and I plugged in one of the DC to DC Chargers CU I I was just trying to
21:47
get some communication uh that is not advised that that was me doing my thing trying to figure stuff out on my
21:55
own um but I plugged in this to the second one and it did pop
22:05
up the information but the problem is I can't do the first one so that's uh what this whole video is
22:11
about is we're undoing everything that's wrong are not
22:16
recommended uh and we are re resolving
22:25
it but as far as connections everything is connected fine it's just communication that is
22:32
uh kind of vague all right so we've got this cable
22:56
here
23:16
and I did a little Cable Management before the show so it's why it's taking me a minute to actually pull this wire
23:26
out
23:33
okay should be free there we go we'll get the second cable
23:39
out now we're going to go through clean up the other stuff that we
23:45
have in here all right so that's our victron we don't want to mess with it cuz it's
23:50
working properly next we have
23:56
our this is our voltage sense
24:26
for okay so we're we're going to unplug the Hub later that way this live stream won't
24:34
be extremely long okay so we got both of the cables out we got uh the battery system is
24:42
doing its thing where it's only batteries now it's not the battery and the dc2dc charger which I think was
24:48
affecting the uh seeing all the
24:54
batteries so now we're going to take our box
25:01
and the first thing we want to do is we're going to go into the app and we're going we need to
25:09
make sure that we are we are forgetting these devices so
25:18
the first step that I'm going to do is I'm going to come inside the van and bear with me for a minute I got
25:24
to get the camera back on
25:53
okay so we have our there we go so let's hop in the van and and start messing with
25:59
this before we pair anything new we need to forget the old so we're going to come in here let
26:06
me make sure I don't unfocus this thing there we go so we need to go to
26:12
devices and we have this DC to dc1 and I renamed
26:19
that so we're going to go
26:24
there uh and then we're going to go to delete are you sure you want to delete this device we're going to go
26:31
delete so now the only thing in here uh we have the
26:38
batteries and then we have the Rigo inverter charger but it's gray out because it's not
26:46
on so we're going to keep that off so now what we want to do is we're going to go through uh and we're going to use
26:53
this we're going to plug in the Bluetooth devices one at a time
26:59
we're going to pair it and then we will
27:07
uh everything should go smoothly
27:21
right and I know I said I was going to Cable manage I'll probably cable manage later that way you guys don't have to
27:28
suffer through me plugging everything in uh but we're going to do the one on
27:34
the right first and just going to pull this wire
27:39
through
27:48
here I'm actually going to come through this side because for this
27:54
one and others going forward I want to make
28:05
sure that this this is going to mount all the way to the back here you want the Bluetooth dongle to be let me change
28:14
my video you want the Bluetooth dongle to be as close to the M1 as
28:26
possible
28:43
all right so we're going to plug this in and we have power as you guys can see
28:51
right there we've got power and we're going to get her app out
29:02
I can do this here so you guys can see so we've got power it's plugged
29:07
in so we're going to go in our app we're going to
29:12
add
29:26
devices
29:36
and I connected it to the Wi-Fi so I may have to turn it off and turn it back
29:55
on all right so it says Renegy is
30:26
offline
30:56
for
31:26
for
31:54
okay I'm just going to power this off and then turn it back on
32:19
so if you notice what I did there's so much power coming in from the solar that's why it's very important to have
32:25
this box over here because uh very low wattage devices will
32:32
still run even when you do the battery disconnect and the reason that that
32:37
happens is the way that I have this disconnected is we have these directly connected to the battery system of the
32:44
van and we do that because the DC todc charger in this Ry combo unit has a cool
32:50
feature to where this green light is the indicator on the uh engine batteries
32:58
status so what will happen is when the system has fully recharged the lithium
33:03
batteries it will go and see what state of charge the engine batteries are and
33:08
then if they're too low uh it'll trickle charge them and so it's a pretty cool
33:14
feature um and I've actually seen it in person work very well because this van
33:21
has not been driven it's only being uh everything is being topped off by solar only but because we have 420 watts of
33:28
solar I've got the shop lights and everything um that's enough power to keep those interior lights on as you saw
33:36
but now the system's completely off we're going to keep the solar panels off and then I'm going to come over here and
33:42
I'm going to turn the system
33:48
on so the Renegy screen here is booting
33:55
up
34:04
and I'm going to go ahead and exit out of the app I'm g go back
34:16
in and it just updated itself on my phone you can see it on the
34:21
screen or all the lights that're on are negative 65 amps coming out the
34:28
batteries uh and according to Renegy you do not have to have a an external
34:33
battery shunt or a smart shunt because the each individual battery the
34:40
BMS uh of the six batteries that I'm using is what is communicating this percentage to uh the system
34:48
itself so let's try this one more time we got a green
34:53
light I'm going to go add add devices
35:00
scanning
35:07
okay found the DC todc charger so let me take it uh I'm going
35:13
to tap on it all right make sure the check mark is
35:21
checked and then I'm going to come over here and hit add added successfully so see how that's
35:28
how fast it should be some some sometimes you just need to reset it okay it's added so I want to go down
35:36
here and I want to do this I'm going to come up here and
35:42
I want to rename this setting and if you guys remember what I had
35:49
before
35:54
um see here
36:00
okay so what I'm going to do is I'm going to hop in the van at the current moment this is the only way I know how to do this
36:10
so now we're going to come up here in the van and I want this to be um go to
36:17
settings wait home see
36:23
devices DC to DC and the top right I want to click it
36:30
edit and I want this one to be uh
36:37
d
36:47
c see [Music]
36:54
dcdc where's the dash dash
37:04
DC to DC space and then I want it to
37:10
be one so see how before it was decent hold on a
37:16
second come on there you go so see it's DC to
37:23
dc1 um so if that was blurred out and you couldn't see it sorry about that but
37:30
basically I just went into the menu I hit edit rename and I wanted DC to DC
37:36
one that way when I do the second one I know it's the second one and then I'm
37:41
going to rename that with a DC to dc2 so I'm going to come back here uh and so
37:48
now it's we know this it's set to lithium this is the auxiliary battery
37:53
voltage starter battery voltage see this is really cool
37:59
12.6 uh starting battery amps so everything looks really good it
38:05
even has the uh auxiliary battery temperature dcdc
38:11
temperature itself then the Bluetooth connection so a lot of
38:17
information okay now we're going to that's where we're at so you can see this is our actually our battery and now
38:24
check this out since I unplugged it and I didn't have I
38:31
wasn't cheating and had that extra device on the battery system now we can actually instead of just seeing only
38:37
battery one we got battery two
38:43
three four five and six so now we can see all the
38:51
batteries uh information and this this thing it's
38:57
just too much information I wanted this whole system because it is very simple for people to use three buttons but if
39:03
you dive into these menus uh you can actually check the individual cell voltages of each battery
39:10
cell and it's a little overkilling information so if you want to nerd out
39:15
and go through all those menus it's up to you you can check your individual batteries here um so for example battery
39:22
1 is 888.259.3826 is
39:28
88.4 3 is 89.5 n 4 is 89.
39:35
07 90.0 five and the last one is 90.1
39:41
n so we got a little bit of discrepancy
39:47
and uh if we get a full charge on the road and they're all top balanced uh I try to
39:55
top balance all the batteries as best as I could and what that means is you individually charge each battery by
40:03
itself um so I did that but when I put them in the van I didn't disconnect them
40:08
individually and do that I just let the whole entire system top off because what I wanted to do is and I know I'm
40:13
strained from our Point here but when I did the inverted charger and I plugged it up to shore
40:20
power uh I just wanted to see in that scenario how it would start to chop and
40:26
uh top off all the batteries and it was pretty cool because I went to the battery menu and I could see when the
40:32
batteries got full they would drop off so the BMS would turn them off and let the other batteries charge and that's
40:38
what you want to see you want to see everything uh taking charge of itself and communicating so it was doing
40:45
everything it was supposed to if you really want to get these battery percentages just dead on so instead of
40:51
88.4 and 89.5 uh top balancing that means fully
40:58
charging until the BMS disconnects the battery would be the way to achieve that
41:04
so let's go back to the home menu so here's our home menu we can uh go over here and swipe and see we've got our DC
41:11
to dc1 uh so there's our DC to dc1 now we
41:17
want to go hop on over the computer and we're going to want
41:22
to um this time what I'm going to do and this is
41:29
per Renegy is I'm actually going to so this
41:34
one was found
41:40
um okay I'm going try
41:48
it this should work when when I was talking to him on the phone we were discussing about the Hub The Hub is want
41:56
everything to be done individually however I'm actually going to
42:02
just I'm going to directly plug this in and see if I can start communicating
42:09
with the uh the DC to DC to DC charger without uh
42:17
turning it off and cycling the system I don't think that's necessary every time but I'll learn very quickly
42:24
if it is necessary cuz it won't work all
42:32
right got our cable coming
42:43
down all right so this is the one we did let's get this out of the way this is
42:48
the one we haven't done so I'm just making sure I can kind of get the cable routing here where I
42:54
want it okay okay so I'm now plugging that in
43:00
so I just plugged it in we have a green
43:09
light we have this let's see if it'll do it the first
43:14
time so we're going to go to we're going to go to
43:22
add try get this in front of my face so it won't can I do this backwards we're going to
43:28
go add TR do this backwards here add new
43:35
add
43:55
device okay so it's having trouble finding
44:02
this getting family text messages I guess I should uh turn that
44:11
off all right so it hasn't um it's still
44:17
scanning so what we're going to do this is still scanning we're going to uh turn
44:24
the system off just like we did and then we're going to turn it back
44:30
on if that doesn't work we'll go to the the next troubleshooting process so
44:35
let's go ahead we're going to power the system down for a couple
44:54
seconds let's power back up I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to
45:02
do what I talk to on the phone with them I was just seeing if there's a a possibility that
45:10
uh this works without um what
45:16
happen I mean this works this way that I'm doing
45:24
it okay so it's still
45:39
scanning the reason that this is probably not working is because we need to uh unfortunately unplug the other
45:47
Bluetooth to power it off and I know this is silly it's just this little hiccup here in the
45:54
system
46:02
okay so I'm actually I'mma exit out of the app go back into it so I just exited
46:09
I'm back in the
46:14
app I go here I'm going to go add
46:24
devices so all I did to fix this was I exited
46:31
the app and I went back into the app and look at that it found it so we're going to select it make sure the box is
46:38
checked hit add added
46:43
successfully so you may need to close out the app and go back into it
46:49
um and then you can see a little Blue Link light flashing so that means it's happy ready
46:55
to go so you know what to do we're going to go hop in the van let's find our
47:04
second combo unit and we're going to go ahead and rename it so we're going to go into setting now we're going to go home
47:14
devices see right here that's why I'm saying it you need to rename it because it comes in as DC
47:20
to DC uh and I wanted this one to be one and I want this one to be
47:27
two and we're going to go here uh we're going to type in D
47:34
uppercase C go to our numbers [Music] Dash
47:41
d [Music] c u
47:47
space two DC to
47:53
dc2 and then we're going to click save click we're going to touch save DC to
48:01
dc2 we go back out to our menu uh we've got there's our
48:06
voltages okay and there we go so now when we go
48:13
home we can scroll and now these are in order DC to
48:19
dc1 DC dc2 if you're weird like me and you want these to be in order you need
48:24
to pair them in that sequence um just so they're like
48:30
that okay so
48:35
now okay we're going to back up so now they're both they're both here so they're not grayed
48:43
out so now what we're going to do is uh we're going to go through I'm going to
48:49
go ahead and also turn on the inverter
48:58
[Laughter]
49:14
and we're going to see how long it takes for it to have the Bluetooth come on and
49:19
and turn on so there we go so now it's live you
49:25
can see it we can go click on it and nothing's going on because we're
49:33
not not using anything we're not doing anything I don't have anything connected to this uh but I just wanted to show you
49:38
the difference between the different menus so this is these are now all not grayed out there have other there have
49:45
been other people in the van industry that have told me that this uh doesn't
49:53
work um and so the the reason I'm also making this video is I wanted to do this
49:58
live so if this didn't work you know you guys could see exactly what I'm dealing
50:04
with as far as not be able to see certain information so the first concern that uh another person that I know has
50:12
is that when you touched the battery you could not see the other batteries and
50:17
you would only see the value of the first battery so what I have to say to that is it's probably because when you
50:24
did the link for every battery you probably plug something into the very
50:30
last port and that was messing up with the uh rs45
50:36
communication that the system uses you you were because that's what I did I plugged it in and I could only see
50:42
battery one when I as soon as I unplugged that cable that was not supposed to be there look you can see
50:49
all the individual batteries so that is now fixed so if you're having that
50:58
trouble do that just make sure that your cables are connected properly there's a
51:03
special sequence you need to plug the cables in um and it's in the manual it's in the renogy manual so if you follow
51:09
that you should be fine we're going to go back we've got our inverter if we had
51:15
Shore power plugged in we would see Power coming through here um and then depending on our loads
51:22
we'd see that as soon as I get that one 10 volt system hooked up we'll go through that menu for an
51:29
option next we'll slide over and we've got our DC to DC one so
51:36
let's uh let's go back here and I'm going to go turn the uh I'm going to go turn
51:44
the what am I trying to
51:49
say turn the solar panels back on so we're going to turn on the 220 Wat solar
51:57
panel 220 watt solar panel then we're going to turn
52:04
on the 200 watt solar panel so over
52:10
here so I went through I got the 220 watt over here and I've got the 200 watt
52:16
so I've turned both of these on and now what we're going to do is
52:21
we're going to go back in the van and let's see what what type of information we're getting as far as uh light input
52:30
now this is this is the lights from my shop so this is not going to be a ton of
52:35
power but we should see we should see
52:42
something so if we go to the first one uh let's see
52:51
here let's see charging it's probably not
52:57
enough amps I'm guessing it's
53:03
not yeah it's not even
53:10
recognizing uh 35 here yeah it's just I don't think the lights are in the shop
53:15
are bright enough anyway we
53:22
tried but the good news is is we have
53:30
solved I have fixed the problem that I had with the with the
53:36
batteries all right so let's let's get this face tracking on because I'm just
53:41
going to be doing some talking head stuff right now um yeah so in conclusion we've got
53:48
we got our two DC todc Chargers on here and and let's see
54:03
here auxiliary so this is DC to dc1 auxiliary batter battery charging
54:10
power is 4.66 let's go to DC to
54:19
dc2 and we don't have anything on that so I it's just it's not it's not enough
54:26
um actually hold on so now it says so there's a little
54:32
bit of a lag it says 4.66 Watts on DC to
54:38
dc1 and I turn on DC to dc2 shortly after that so let's
54:46
see let's see what happens Alexa turn on Workshop
54:54
lights all right so
55:00
that's that's all my lights in my shop turned on so I'm not sure if
55:06
uh there we go I'm not sure
55:11
if we're going to see
55:19
anything so we can check on the inside of the van without running around yeah I I don't think it's enough
55:26
juice for it to to see
55:42
it all right that uh yeah that was that's the video so hope that um helped
55:48
you guys out with this whole entire platform here when I get the van outside
55:55
um I'll try to record something on my phone and then maybe update you guys in a future live stream I still got to do
56:01
the power here so I'm going to go ahead and uh end this video I'm GNA before I
56:06
end it stay stay here don't go away yet I want to show you guys a couple
56:11
things um sounds like the UPS driver is here so maybe we have to end sooner or
56:17
later so let's go to uh we're going to go to Van Builder HQ
56:27
vanit HQ so if you guys have not been to our website vanit HQ we have a bunch of
56:33
article here articles here uh to help you with your DIY van building uh we've
56:38
got Ultimate Flooring guides um chatting with lithionics batteries to talk about their batteries we got the best CER B
56:45
mattresses guides for air conditioners for Vans um went through and looked at DIY
56:52
conversion kits such as Adventure wagon and then also solar and we got a bunch
56:59
more articles to come but the top of this we have the DIY van build cheat sheet which is one I
57:05
want to quickly talk to you guys about guys this cheat sheet is awesome it's the past three years of my Amazon
57:11
purchases and I've put them all into an Excel sheet so that you guys can have an organized way to look at all the stuff
57:18
that I've bought so this is a sneak peek of the sheet if you guys don't have it already we've got electrical components
57:25
so like all the solar and Renegy stuff that I've been talking about uh we have
57:30
the Fasteners uh stuff for my 8020 the angle stainless steel bolt screws nuts we've
57:37
got Hardware such as folding brackets the Revit shelf
57:43
um uh which is the pull out kitchen cabinet that Thomas has in his van
57:48
that's super cool HVAC related Parts such as maxman for example we got
57:53
insulation uh onboard air compressors uh Roofing so this is the scan strut uh cable seals
58:01
that I use to relocate the Ford Transit antenna at the top of the van solar
58:06
we've got all the cables fuses solar panels the most important list and we
58:12
got a blog post coming up uh in the future I'm going to go through all this
58:17
in detail so that if I had to tell you ex if you needed to know if you need to
58:23
know exactly what to to build your van and I said if you buy these tools it will help you out 100% those are the
58:30
tools on this list that I'm talking about um every single one of these I use every day when I'm building and working
58:37
on Vans um it's got the PEX crimpers it's got debur tools rivet tools for the
58:44
adventure wagon stuff so this thing is really comprehensive it's currently uh over 250
58:51
items and it's continually growing I probably right now have at at least 40 more things I need to add to it
58:59
um so stay tuned for that but if you guys want this list it is completely
59:04
free all you have to do is go to Van Builder hq.com link is in the description below as well and uh you can
59:10
just click on this download the free cheat sheet it's going to take you to this page put your name and email address and this is going to deliver it
59:17
straight to your inbox completely free and I know it's going to help you out with your DIY van
59:23
conversion and and uh also just something to help you with ideas you know van build ideas uh get a look at
59:30
that um yeah make sure you guys use those Amazon links uh we're going to be updating this so you'll probably get an
59:36
email um when we get an update to this uh so just look out for that because
59:42
it'll be a whole revamped list and it'll be even better all right last but not least
59:49
let's talk about my van building business Odyssey custom vans get to the website
59:58
here I know you guys are eager to see this van get finished and I am working hard on this van um we got some other
1:00:04
stuff going on the shop just like the live streams and stuff like that so in the meantime I have taken a picture of
1:00:11
the van outside we've got Nova hanging out there on the ground um to get you
1:00:17
guys happy for a minute with some content on the van if you want to see a walk through with the van and see what
1:00:24
it is at the current moment check out the tour we did at the adventure van Expo in Chattanooga Tennessee this year
1:00:31
we went to an event we got a lot of positive feedback from everybody that came in the van checked it out and uh it
1:00:37
was fun but it was really fun to hear you guys uh talk about the van we had subscribers come out which was blew my
1:00:44
mind how many subscribers came out to say hi and thank you guys so much for watching the channel watching the videos
1:00:51
asking the awesome questions and coming to the event it was was a very very proud moment so I I want to say I really
1:00:58
appreciate that uh this is the van behind me so these are all the details we have the
1:01:05
vehicle details so this is your normal window sticker type of thing uh so this
1:01:11
van is got the killer engine it's got the 3.5 L EcoBoost turbocharged engine
1:01:17
got a LED slip differential and the 10-speed transmission so if you guys are uh into the over landing and you
1:01:25
want an all-wheel drive vehicle that is super robust this platform that the van is built on is
1:01:31
there moving up we have uh and I'm just going to briefly go over this we got the offgrid power system 600 amp hours all
1:01:38
the reny stuff that I just talked about in this video is right here um as far as the interior we got
1:01:44
the dedic RTX 2000 we also have a hidden shower from Tetra van that is in the uh
1:01:51
the van itself um hot and cold water 40 Gall tank capacity uh 20 Gall or
1:01:59
actually 16 gallon gray tank for the shower and that's independent of the Interior 7 to 14 gallons that you guys
1:02:07
can uh spec out on this van um yeah and just a couple other
1:02:13
things there but if you want to see the van I took some photos so you guys can get really excited about where this
1:02:20
build is uh coming to um the progression of this build you guys have seen it a
1:02:25
lot on the channel and I'm really excited to finally get it to a point to
1:02:30
have it for sale and it is for sale um if you guys are interested in purchasing
1:02:36
this van I'm going to show you a link below uh there is still time in the rear of the van uh in the next couple weeks
1:02:42
to where you could change some things um not too much it would just be uh maybe
1:02:47
some points lighting switches and stuff like that before the van is completely wrapped
1:02:52
up but go through the these photos it's just a super clean build I'm very proud
1:02:57
of it um especially you know the nice clean power system we're going to do the same thing with the acrylic so you guys
1:03:04
can see into the power system like we did on Thomas's van and uh yeah just uh really excited
1:03:11
to finally get this uh into a sales State we went to the Expo got people to
1:03:18
see it now it's time to get this van sold so if you guys are interested in this van in purchasing this van reach on
1:03:24
me to directly at sales odssey customs.com this is my phone number come
1:03:30
straight to me uh the easiest way to do it for me and you is to go on the cly
1:03:36
link and select a time so for example I just open up everything wide open for
1:03:42
this so you can click on the day and then find a time that's convenient for
1:03:47
you so pick any of these times you can uh it'll hop on my pop on
1:03:53
my calendar I'll see your information and uh there's a couple things just read through this on the
