Live Build Night! Adventure Wagon Insulation Install

thank you hey guys welcome to the live stream tonight so as you can see we got a

different setup we're behind the van I'm very excited because this is kind of my plan for

the builds going out is to get you guys involved uh do some live building on

camera so tonight's going to be kind of like a test we're going to go through um I'm just going to do my thing as far

as doing the thing that I have on my checklist tonight which was installing the

adventure wagon system now if you look at this camera right here

most of the system has already been installed we're going to go over this system if you have any questions

so I'm just going to work organize the insulation that is on the bottom of the

van that you guys can see I've got a bunch of panels that I need to organize so that's what I'm doing tonight I'm

just going to keep the camera rolling but in the meantime if you guys want to ask questions put those in the comments

um so really the focus tonight will be any questions on the adventure wagon interior interior system

uh so before we get started I will go to the computer here and I will show you

what we're talking about so Adventure wagon is a company that makes a complete interior

uh panel systems I guess the best way to explain it

so you can go to their website go to their interior system and they're going to give you everything you need for the

whole entire van um on the walls for example so they're going to

give you insulation panels upholstered panels wood panels L track

um stuff like that and the reason that I went to them is

strictly a matter of safety when you're building a van uh it's okay to build it out of wood my

personal van is kind of like a wood you know structure there's a little bit of metal in there but most most of it is

just Wood Construction you can do that safely making sure you're bolting it just when you're doing

that type of build using wood just imagine if you're in a car accident how are the other items in the van going

to react how is the fridge going to react how is the battery system going to react you know what's going to happen

where are those things going to go when you get in a car accident

um so getting into doing these professional builds you know I have customers

and not only do I want my bills to be safe as possible electrically which I can

take care of that the interior needs to be just as safe

so I came across a venture wagon and they had this internal skeleton

and it rivets into the whole entire van so it provides an extra layer of

protection in the event that you do get to an accident that's not their words that's

my words so um they're using this system so that

they can create a repeatable attachment point system so they what they want to do is they need repeatability so if they

are in control of the framework that they're installing into these Bands then they can can be repeatable

um the other way that they uh let's see here man I need to get

something to zoom better on here for you guys but what's nice is since you're in

reinforcing the van on the inside you'll notice these tracks and so that is L

track and if you guys don't know what l-track is

stands for logistical track and trucks Freight uh

you know anything that transports uh cargo uses

these tracks and without damaging my equipment

you guys can look you see how there's a channel there's a channel going through there

that channel is what you put in a there's clips that you can put in there

and this one is a recessed one so what Adventure wagon has done is

they've repurposed it to hold not only be used as an attachment point but it

can hold the panels in place so it is 100 functional

it looks really really cool and uh it looks cool

so that's why I got the system um oh it's safe that was my third thing it was safe

so let's go back to the computer so just take a look at that

yeah when I hold the control key it doesn't work that way

the text gets bigger but the the photos just stay the same it depends on what depends on what

website I'm using uh see for 10

um yeah so Adventure wagon this is their interior system

and then this is what it looks like when you um actually finish the interior so if you

look at this camera it's kind of the same thing you can choose your colors for the

fabric they've got a couple different colors and then you can choose the top panel

which is the uh like the bamboo that you see in there you can choose that

and so there's the L track what's also nice is that you can take the panels off

to access cabling if you do decide to wire your cables behind the uh

the panels in the van um I guess this video is turning out to be

a review of venture wagon um there's going to be multiple of these because I'm not going to finish the van

in the two hour stream that I'm doing tonight but you can see here they use 3M

thinsulate for their insulation

they have different uh bags and storage systems that you can do you can have multiple beds so you can have a bed up

here and a bed down here it's called their Moab elevator bed

it is a premium product but it is built like it it is built like

a tank it is I have nothing but high things to say about it

um here's the Moab bed so it has these expanding slats in here so that you can

lower it and then as the van goes up and tapers in gets narrower the bed can adapt

and they've got it in two different colors and as you guys saw in the other live

stream they use the Riga hexa ply

so really really cool they've got some other parts

let's see if I can go back up here I'll just do a couple more things and I'm gonna get back into what I'm doing

tonight um the mule bags I love them they're really

cool so the mule bag is a soft bag that attaches to the L track at

the top of the van

what's nice about the soft bags is you can break them down store them they're soft so if you want to do double

beds double mule bags above your head then if you

get up in the middle of the night you won't accidentally hit your head on a hard cabinet

and then let's see what else cargo controls so here's the tie down systems

so this is stuff you can purchase to connect to the L track

so pretty much what's gonna happen tonight is the other van I'm storing all the insulation

I'm going to bring it out and one thing that you have to do is when you start to get the thinsulate panels out

you have to organize them they have a tag at the very bottom and they're going to explain to you they'll give you like a code and

location uh like driver's side lower or upper

so we'll go over I'm just going to you know act like you guys aren't here I'm just

going to keep keep going but put in the chat get in the chat ask some questions while I'm uh and doing the installation

of the bottom of the van and yeah we'll get going here so let me change cameras

make sure you guys can still hear me looks like we're pretty good

so just to kick it off on this camera so right here this is the thinsulate

panels and uh this is it's about an inch and a half

and in some areas they'll double it up for you so you get about three inches and this is very this is a 3M brand so

it's very you know it's a high-end um uh

insulated material most people use Havelock wool

but this this will be a step above Havelock just in my opinion

and at the very bottom you're going to have like these tags so this one says 19

and 20 that's the number and then it says Dash low Dash 2B

and this one is Dash low Dash 1B so when you see that you'll notice that

these are both cut the same size and that means that they are meant to be

um together 1b2b and so this would be this would make a panel like this

so for example d low would be driver side low so this is going to go

um driver side low you do have to kind of figure this out so

uh you guys will enjoy this video if you do have one of these systems because I'm going to go through

um because it's been a while since I've been working on the System since we've been working on another van

and uh when you first get it shipped it's kind of in an order the way that they pack it

so in a perfect world you would be opening that package and then directly putting it in the van in that order

but I've moved this around the shop a couple times in the last couple months and uh yeah it's not it's not organized

so I'm gonna be organizing it on camera so if you're in the same situation and you're wondering what panel goes where

you can watch this fast forward follow along later when the stream's done it's going to help you

find out where everything goes but what you can't see here is below well you actually can you can see I've

got the insulation just down here what I'm first going to do is just do driver's side and passenger

and what we're doing is we're insulating this bottom channel so everything from this L track up has already been done so

part one and part two of the adventurewag install those videos are available on the channel

part one is installing the orange structure like the internal skeleton and then part two is installing uh other

components such as like the the ceiling so after that we'll chop this up it'll

be a part three when this is all finished so pretty much the next couple live streams unless I change up the format

we're going to be doing um just live live builds

and uh yeah I think it's late time stop it's nice for everyone you know get home kind of

watch me build um so we've got driver's side low

then we've got driver side low 2B so I'm just going to put this over here

I've already got a driver low 1A 3A

4B so you can see how this starts to get

confusing so we're going to do a

and then we got B so we're just going to put all this in here and then we'll just we'll start

organizing I've got practice from doing the rest of

the van so we got driver low 3A 3B for a

this is the uh Friedman seat that we purchased when we were at the show and so this is

pretty much the location I'm going to put it in um we'll do a video later about this

so I just need to move it out of the way so I can get over here

now Venture wagon has uh tutorials on their website so if you get lost you can go through

um and just kind of follow the video I actually might go here and reference it in just a second

after I get these uh organized

so I'm looking at driver low 3B

and the A's and the B's will probably go together so just keep getting some more

and then some of these are contoured to the wheel well so it makes it much easier to identify

so over here we've got passenger low 7B then we've got passenger low 7A

so these two are together and so these are going to go probably

right here those are passenger lows

and it's just so nice that these are all pre-cut and then we've got passenger low 5B

passenger low 5A

and so these are very specific so if you think this one goes like this

just use your imagination because it can also go like this or it can go like

this they are very particular that the way that they cut this and that all the

corrugations if there's a section that's thinner so for example

this one's thinner than this one there's a corrugation that's that's going here so they've already

pre-measured that so what I'm getting at is basically if

it doesn't fit perfectly try another location

and they're actually so good at doing this that this one for example see how there's like a taper right here

just because there's like a gusset that comes in like at this angle so this one is actually going to go

up over here and then we'll have

passenger low just make sure it's an A to B seven a

seven b so these are together

and so this one's going to go right here so I'm gonna leave these out so that I'm gonna get one section lined up once I go

through all this and then I'll just kind of run it off that way you guys can reference this video too

so now we're just looking for like a driver low 5A

now be careful because some of these you will need to cut and

you'll have this extra so for example there's certain sections on the top like

for example for the vent fan you know obviously this is going to be a cut out and then for some other areas that you

might need to cut out so these I cut out they don't have a stickers on them so I'm just going to set them aside

got the lower back door

see what else we got passenger low

we're almost done here and we'll get ready to uh be popping these in here in a second

passenger low 4B we got here

so passenger low 8A passenger low 8B so 8A 8B

and that's five so we got five

seven so this is six seven and this is eight

so now we need to find six

so anytime you have these little triangle pieces they're going to have a opening here

so the 1.5 is going to be here 2 is going to be here and then the 2.5

is going to be right there

here we're going to do it in the same order

sections in now they give you a roll of double-sided tape that you can use

if these things start to fall down and let me show you what that roll looks

like

so this is what the with the double-sided tape roll looks like right here

so you can use this it's really used for the top panels and these side panels that are really large and that they tend

to over time kind of fall down so I'm not going to use it for down here

because there's such they're kind of like a short stubby piece and they hold vertical really well

what we've done in a previous video is we have um

uh let's see here

let me go through before I get going any further let's just go ahead and check

the videos here

because I think we've used up all of our Rattle Trap Dynamat sound proofing

material from the kit I just want to double check

yeah it looks like they have that in the bottom so I'm gonna go ahead and look over in the kit and see if we have any

of the uh that sound proof left foreign

thank you all right guys we are back so a couple things that we need to do

inside here before we keep going is

this right here is the sound deadening material for the van we put it everywhere in the van except

where I just put the uh thinsulate material

um for some reason I thought we used all this up from the kit but I've got the

box right there so we're going to go ahead and we'll take this out and this stuff

is it's very thin you can see right there

and what this does is if you don't know what this is this is uh sound deadening material

so you're going to cut a section off that's the size that's pretty almost

like a a half the size of one of these panels this is going to go on the inside of

that chain that chamber so come over here on the drawing pad so

it's going to go right here so this blue color it's going to go right here so you're going to cut a piece right there

you probably won't be able to get your hands in here that's okay if you can put a piece there

and then over here put a piece then over here put a piece

and it's going on this back side so you're just going to peel and stick

and so what that does is you are changing the resonant frequency

of the metal that is a big fancy way of saying you're taking something that if

you hit it it kind of has a chance to reverberate but when you put this on there it's

going to add more weight and it dampens it so it's more of a thud instead of a

like a ping sound if that makes sense because this changes the uh

changes that once you peel and stick this you need to buy one of these so one

of these is just a just a roller um and

it's not near it's a there's a figure out what type of material this is

you don't want a hard roll or you want something that has a little bit of give um if you go on Amazon and type in like

sound deadening roller you'll I got two of these off of Amazon

there we go all right let's get back to work

so you put them down here and then what we're going to do is we're just going to take a utility knife and we're going to

come through here and cut so let me bring this down

I can show you what we're doing

so we're gonna come over here we're going to take our panel out these

uh right here keep them in order let's throw them over here

and then right here see where we have the uh open Metal

um we've got that and then we've got hey come here Nova

and then on this side we've got another side so we're going to cut a small piece here

and then we're going to cut a small piece down here and then we're going to try to stick a piece inside here so anywhere that you

can uh Nova come around here no but come here

she thinks Somebody's knocking at the door um but we're going to take this

and we're going to turn the metal from this noise to a more of a thud

so just go ahead and get your oh come on camera

we're gonna get a new battery and then we're gonna get back to work

working out all the Kinks today

do this so you guys can see the behind the scenes

I've got a power cable that connects the computer but I was getting like a noise feedback

so I had to go back to battery power

okay that should work for the moment we'll wait till that gets connected

all right got the channel should it be connected there we go

hop back up in here and we're going to go ahead and cut our first uh cutter first piece

there we go I think we can get camera to focus

okay so we're going to cut it for this side this does not have to be perfect so just go ahead and take your sheet bring it up

here Make a Score Mark then come over here make another score mark

and then just cut it

be very careful this is a foil backed uh

piece of dampening stuff so it's razor sharp it's got like a like a little bit of like a sticky tar stuff on

the back of it and then it's got uh like a just a razor foil right there so

be very careful you should use gloves um I'm not

take the paper fold it back there's a little trick that way you get it positioned

and then take your roller you're going to roll the beginning of it

and then come back and then peel the paper away as you push the rest of it on

and do it in the middle and the reason you want to do that is because

this stuff is so sticky it's possible to get air bubbles in there you really don't want to air bubble in

this stuff it's not the end of the world but

uh you just want to have air bubbles and then you're going to keep going

um the fun part about this is again it doesn't have to be perfect so for example we have a spare piece right here

so I'm going to go ahead and just cut this all right cut this piece off

now this piece doesn't really fit anything in here but I'm going to stuff it up under here and stick it in there

and then I'm gonna use since I can't get the roller in there I'm just going to do it with my hands I'm just going to put this up in here

I'm going to be very careful when you're using your hands you really should have gloves on but just being really careful because this

sheet metal can cut you because if you're not familiar with Automotive stuff you won't have that gut

reaction to be careful you might go to pull your hand out really quick and just you know slice your finger really bad

this stuff this stamped stuff back here is it's extremely sharp it's very sharp

so next we're going to come over here and we're going to try to get like a longer piece

so we're just going to score it and then we're just going to kind of

find something we can get in there you want as big as it can be but also

you want it to be manageable

and I'm gonna get a piece of wood I usually cut on a piece of wood so I'm not tearing up the next piece

let's take our piece that we cut out

and this one's going to be tricky so I'm gonna pull this whole thing off

and then I'm going to come in here and again be very very careful about

this sheet metal I'm going to come up to the top

they make some gloves that are they're made for like you know

using knives and stuff like that and that would be very good right here and this inner lip is extremely Sharp

just be very careful

so that looks good a little spot right there I want to get

and even pieces this big uh they'll make a difference

that one's looking pretty good

so let's try to do this section right here uh and then whatever we have left over we're gonna

put over here and then we'll put some

we'll actually put some we'll put some insulation in uh you can keep the paper on the back so

you can test fit it so you can put it in here

be very careful how many times I'm going to say that

so this one is a little too long

so I need to cut this top section off

and I'm actually going to make it narrower it doesn't matter how many times you cut

this you can use this some other place so you're not you're not wasting it if you cut it wrong

so just practice make sure you get it in there easy see that and then take the then take the paper off

without touching if you can help it

and then go from this one go from The Middle to the top

and then from The Middle to the bottom and then work your way outside

[Music] see it's much of a lower sound than this

hear that that's a low that's a tenty sound and this

it's more of a thud so that's that's what you're looking for and so what we'll do over here is we'll

get our pieces back

and if you got some scraps before you finish just come over here and say you know hey maybe I can fit

uh one more piece in here

the more you can fit in here the better I don't go crazy but

uh well here's what I'm saying that is you're not gonna go back once once you do this you're not going

to go back and you're going to fix it you're going to put the insulation over it and that's

the last time this thing will see daylight

all right so we got this all put together here um

let's see if you guys can foreign get a picture of that before I go

further you might use it as the thumbnail

it's hard to zoom in I got to get a little app for this computer but anyway so what we did was we just

put them inside these Chambers here okay so that's what we did and now we're going to stuff in the insulation

so yeah it'd be good for me to let me move the computer the camera

all right hopefully it might make anybody sick [Laughter]

all right so we have our

stuff in here taking our roller we've gone over what we can actually get our

hands on be careful this is metal here not to cut you but it will scratch the

van and then um so one thing on Ford Transit there's a

chamber down here uh

I drop stuff in there all the time so I have magnetic tools I always get it out if it's a screw or whatever

but be very careful about dropping stuff down in here

just almost dropped that um it goes down all the way in here like a

cavity and there's really no way to go and get it out except for the top so just heads

up all right um let's start with a bag here

so we've got two pieces this is a driver's side low 8A driver

side low 8B you'll notice that they've cut these

different so you're gonna we're gonna find out why

so the smaller one so this bigger one is probably going to go here first

and then go up under here

so you see how they do that and that fits and then this smaller one

um so I need to

so part of taking this out is you have to disconnect a bunch of these sensors right here so

this is like a pigtail harness and this is uh these are grounding wires they go right here there's some bolts

that go with it to reconnect it to the Ford system um

we're not using these lights so I'll be wrapping these up moving them out of the way but if we decide to do the AC on this

van we're going to the wire is going to chase it gonna come through this cavity and come through

here to our battery system so we're still going to put the

insulation in because this whole point of this kit but we're going to make sure that we put

um we just we want to make sure that we write down that

um that's that's something we get up on our to-do list we already come back over here and get this thing all put together

now you could put this behind this if you wanted to um

I'm gonna try to sneak it up behind this metal because that would be good to do that if

we can but I don't you don't want to compress this material

too much [Music] so we want this to kind of go up up to

here be very careful this metal is so sharp

so what I'm doing is I'm just pulling it up and I can see that we're going to have enough if I

just leave it like this I'll have enough okay so I'm gonna take this

very carefully without getting cut I'm going to push it up

up under here be very careful

and then this is going to go down here all right and so it's going to be flush with that

place I told you where I we you lose things it's going to come up this Channel and

it's going to be back behind this wall so that's going to be your first piece then you'll follow it up with the second

piece and the second piece there's a channel up here see where my hands going and it goes up to this lip right here

so I'm going to take it and we're going to go up high first

because we can always pull down if we go too high it's hard to go the opposite direction

I'm going to take this and we're just going to stuff it down here in the bottom until it's nice and even

okay and then you know you can kind of fluff this up if you

want to something like that you don't what gives

insulation it's value is the air space

airspace right here airspace through here this fluff

this if this was smashed it's not going to do anything airspace

is what gives you the your r value or your insulative value

so don't smush this in if anything kind of leave it just nice

and loose okay like that and then when you put the panel on if

the panel smushes it that's fine but just keep it as Loose as you can

next we're going to go to this next piece this is

driver side low 7B 7A this is pretty self-explanatory it's

going to go in there like this okay they're both cut the same so don't worry

about you know which one is which um

see since you guys can see me I'm gonna come up a little bit on the camera

so it's not always chopping my head off there we go

all right so so now we're going to take this and again this is the dangerous one

these are very very sharp so you just kind of kind of stuff it down here like this you can fold it

that's okay we'll fold it in stuff it

and then let it kind of pop out up into the top and you can kind of so what I'm doing is

I'm going to pinch it like this and I can just move it around like that okay

and that way it's I know it's not smushed in there okay so once one's in

then you're gonna get the next one just fold it like this

get that tail going down

and let it kind of flare out then pinch it

just like that and you kind of pull it pull it towards

you shake it let it let it make sure it gets nice and fluffed out it's not compressed

coming on back now you can see we've got two different sizes see that

so if you put your hand in there gently there is the back side is bigger in the

front what's closer towards you is smaller so the smaller piece is going to be going last

this bigger piece is going to go in first and don't get ahead of yourself I almost

did we didn't sound proof this one so this is the last one we're going to do for a second

I'll make sure it's nice and fluffed up that is going to give you the best insulated value

you can push it to make sure it's nice and even just make sure you pinch it

just shake it and fluff it up there you go just like a pillow you're like you're fluffing a pillow exactly

all right we're going to keep on going back here see what time it is

yeah we'll probably do strain for about 10 more minutes

so 10 minutes left on this and then so I'm going to go ahead and sound proof

this it'll probably take me 10 minutes at least two sections and then I'm going to put the panel over

it and that will be a one completed section out of these uh

sections so we got one two three sections and that'll be the end of the Stream So

if you guys are with me still have a question put it in the chat and I'll answer it in

about 10 minutes

if it's adventure wagon related it's a bonus

so this is a perfect example of using your scrap pieces I need a piece that looks just like this to go right here

and I didn't even have to cut it

remember if you can get your roller in here do it

and bigger this is a tapered there's two tapers here so the smaller one this time

it's not going to go out so it's going to go inside

and then the bigger one is going to go outside

leave it loose shake it make sure it's nice and fluffed

all right so you guys can see I already have two little baby cuts on my hand

um so even being careful uh it's just really sharp the metal is just really sharp so be careful let me

get a Band-Aid real quick

. the scary thing is the metal is so sharp you almost don't know know it until

okay you're back to normal um so what we're gonna do

is I'm going to show you the pan I'm going to go back over here and I'm going to show you the panel that goes over it and then how that's attached and then

we'll go ahead and end the Stream

all right so one more reason that the adventure wagon stuff is so cool is

because this is that Riga hexa material I was talking to you about but everything with the bump outs and

everything look at this they they foiled they do a foil liner

it's about an eighth of an inch thick and I mean

again it is premium it is expensive kit but it's everything is well worth it

um not sponsored just letting you guys know that um I just I like

they've impressed me with their craftsmanship so just double checking everything I'll

be taking this off many times that is another cool thing about a venture wagon is

the panels you can take on and off multiple times

so for this bottom one just for sake of this video I'm not going to do everything I'm not

going to put the whole system in because this middle this middle section holds this and this

so you can imagine it is kind of a little bit of a puzzle so since I don't have a floor in here

that's another thing if you can install the adventure wagon kit without having your floor be

installed that is preferred in my book because

um you can walk around you can cut stuff you can sweep out your van you don't have to worry about damaging the floor

also they leave you some room so if if I

put this panel in so it just kind of comes in there like

that nice and clean pre-cut out you can still use your tie down from your wheel well

if you just have like you still want to use this as more like utilitarian you want an interior but you're going to

have like dirt bikes and stuff you want the tie down points and maybe you're not doing a floor you're doing a mat so check it out Adventure wagon

this is only about a quarter of an inch off the floor so if you need

if you have just the factory mat it'll still be a clean install

um of course when I get done with this uh I haven't decided if I'm

going to leave it like this and build around this or do something different I

got a couple options because I love the ABC rig flooring that we put in Thomas's van but for this build with

the shower and the refrigerator over here the water system I really need everything to be as

low as possible so I might just put a thin half inch piece of uh

insulation like the pink insulation on the bottom that foam so the

that type of foam and then once I do that uh everything can be built up on it so

it won't actually be like an insulated Floor Wood lawn seal then the components

it'll probably just be half inch of the poly ISO insulation

um and then I'll build the 80 20 frame up over that and then this rig of hexa

will be built into the 80 20. and then you'll have that foam and I'll

either do the foam or you can I also have more thinsulate so I

might do a thinsulate base um but there's a bunch of different ways

you can do it that's the kind of cool thing about this channel is I can show you kind of the different ways that I'm

thinking about doing it because there's really no rules just remember that if you want to do something creative you

can do it um but kind of think ahead of where what it's going to look like later I guess is

what I'm saying anyway so we put our sound deadening we put our installation in here shows you guys how actually let

me hop on the computer and talk to you

all right so showed you guys how to put the sound deadening material in there we talked

about the um uh the panels how they went in there uh what they were

numbered for the bottom section and then we also did the uh

that wood outside Nova's ready to go
