hey everyone welcome to live stream today we're working again on the Ford Transit and we're going to be installing these scopea swivel seats uh not
1:34
sponsored but we got these from the swivel shop if you guys have not uh check these out um they've got a bunch
1:41
here that you guys can pick from whether you have uh a metc a promas Ford Transit
1:48
or Chevy Astro van I even saw the Ford E Series down here which is pretty cool
1:55
and then something really quick uh for the ProMaster since that has a little
2:00
awkward step down uh they've actually got this little fold out step that's pretty cool yeah I just thought I'd show
2:06
you that um but we're going to get into the Ford on the inside we're going to uh we finally have put everything back
2:13
together so the driver's side with all the Plastics um where the foot well is Gas
2:19
Pedal brake that's all been put back together all the wires for the wolf box have been tied up um secured those are
2:26
uh good to go on the right hand side we put in that goon table Mount we've upholstered that column again put all
2:33
the Plastics back in So now on this driver's seat we are ready to put in the
2:39
swivel base now if you're looking at the last
2:44
couple live streams you say Nick you know you put a lot of time into the electrics and the power and all that stuff that's true and the reason why is
2:52
because uh once you put the swivel seat in you cannot access anything underneath
2:58
the seat so any of the uh uh you know cables or fuses or
3:04
anything like that so you just want to make sure that you're done with that area before you decide to move on to the
3:11
rest of the van um the swivel seat is really straightforward and um it's
3:16
definitely something that everybody really loves to put into a uh Ford Transit and
3:23
um so yeah we're going to hop in here and get started so
3:30
so if you guys have any questions put those in the live chat happy to answer them can be anything van related doesn't
3:36
have to be about swivel seats tonight but we're just going to put the seat in uh spin it around show you how to
3:42
install it and then that's going to be pretty much it so not too long but live stream um but we'll go ahead and get
3:58
started
4:05
all right we're going to need uh we'll need a couple um things here to uh kick
4:11
it off and one thing that we're going to do is talk about the tools
4:22
needed so uh I believe this is a number five Allen wrich so we're going to need
4:28
a number five or five I think it's a 5
4:34
mm um we're going to need a/ in wrench um and then half inch uh
4:42
ratchet uh some blue lock removable lock tight because you may want to get back
4:47
in here and do some maintenance or check on your battery get your battery replaced uh just understand that you
4:56
know if you are in the future uh if you need the battery replaced this is a brand new battery we
5:02
put in here but if you need the battery replaced in the future um or if you need to charge the battery there's actually
5:09
some a place in the hood that I'll I'll talk about later but if you needed to
5:14
replace this battery you will have to take this swivel base off um so just uh
5:20
just a heads up on
5:27
that now there may be one thing that is uh I'm trying to figure out at the
5:33
current moment um and it has to do with these uh the battery terminal studs here
5:41
um I have a piece of Hardware that's
5:47
going to be able to if these need to be relocated um I can do
5:53
that but typically in these Vans there is a uh a battery cover so I think on
6:02
the um the single battery it's different maybe it's different with a dual
6:08
battery but I want to I'm trying to see how this base is going to interact with
6:13
the battery terminals because we want to make sure that um there's no issue
6:20
there so this is our base so I'm just going to put it on the back and I'm going to check my clearance
6:28
to the battery
6:37
and it looks good we've got a we got about a half inch so yeah half
6:43
inch is okay because this is this base is not going anywhere um but just a precaution I want to put
6:50
some electrical tape on these two studs that actually tighten
6:56
down um it's more if so I don't miss up it's not that once we get finished it's
7:02
going to be an issue in the future it's just when I'm moving this into place I don't want
7:08
to touch any metal to metal I'm sure that makes
7:13
sense so uh one thing that was really interesting today I got on my
7:20
phone and we had an enormous amount of views on the
7:26
phone and it was really interesting to me because um usually when we go live on
7:34
the computer you know it takes a takes some time so I'm curious if
7:40
the format on the uh the iPhone the fact that it's on a
7:46
phone and it's like in a vertical orientation if that has anything to do
7:51
with actual YouTube um pushing it out there cuz there was
7:58
almost 30 300 people instantly on the stream and that's
8:04
just I thought that was pretty interesting yeah all I'm doing is just
8:12
uh these high spots in the terminal just putting a little tape on
8:28
there
8:51
yeah but we we might do more live streams with the phone that's pretty interesting to
8:58
me
9:28
for
9:58
that
10:05
all one more piece of tape here and we will have everything on the positive
10:10
terminal nice and protected uh just from any possible
10:20
arcing arcing during install so I just don't want to bump
10:25
anything but that's all fine it's good to go uh again this this battery
10:32
uh is uh fully topped off so we don't really don't have to worry about charging it but if you did need to
10:37
charge this battery there are two special terminals inside under the hood of the van that's where you would jump
10:44
start it um one's on the very far right and it's a uh that's the ground so it's
10:52
within the hood hinge and then the positive is located in the middle middle
10:58
uh more right hand side it's a plastic Red Cap with a positive terminal underneath that you
11:04
can pop out and do a do a jump on
11:13
it let's see got one little
11:27
spot okay this is good to go next this is all
11:33
set wires are set next this is important this is your connections for I believe
11:40
it's your airbag communication uh for the chair for like your seating uh it's also the electrical
11:46
supply for your Motors if you have a uh electronic seat adjustable seat um
11:53
however this has a grommet over here and it's usually underneath the shield and over here to to the right so you'll need
12:01
to pull that up and then move it into the battery box because if you can
12:07
imagine this goes through the swivel in the center and this is going to move with the chair so you're going to want
12:13
to make sure that this has enough room to actually move without
12:19
binding um so when we pull get the swivel in here we'll put that through
12:24
and then that'll be that'll be our first step um they're going to give you this
12:30
bit of hardware and it's going to be in the middle of the swivel you just take it out you just pull the cap
12:35
off you're all set um and then this is these are the what we'll be using to
12:40
attach it to the base and then to eventually to the driver's
12:47
seat so we're going to go ahead and grab our
12:56
swivel and then going to come over here and we need to make sure so for example
13:02
the reason I taped it is Imagine like if you twist this and it fell and hit the battery terminal that would not be good
13:09
so we taped it just in case we mess up as
13:15
possible um so what we want to do
13:20
is we need to break it free so basically unlock it like we were going to swivel
13:26
it without the seat there we go
13:32
this is the way that you're going to be able to install it so all we did was open the latch up
13:39
and then twist the top and so it offsets it and then it allows us to access
13:47
our um holes for
13:54
this all right now we're going to get our allen wrench okay and then the tapered
14:02
head uh that is going to go in so that it sits very low and there's a like a
14:08
chamfered edge that is going to go through um and then we're going to put our Loctite on
14:18
here and we're just going to Loosely put this
14:24
in um what I found is sometimes uh it's uh there's just a little bit of tweaking
14:30
you got to do it might pinch a little bit um so we just want to make sure that we
14:38
keep it Loose to get it aligned and then we'll evenly go ahead and start
14:46
um bolting it
14:57
down so you know how I told tell you guys that you know grade A are really good bolts uh for safety um and I use it
15:06
for like the L track in the back and stuff like that these are actually grade
15:12
10 according to the top of the screw which is pretty nice it's a little little
15:27
bonus
15:40
we're just going to tighten this in like an an x pattern for
15:57
example
16:41
okay then we can go in and kind of do our like our final tightening of
16:57
these
17:18
and you're basically getting to a point to where these things are seated and it'll be pretty much be to a point to
17:23
where you cannot tighten anymore and then with the Loctite Drive
17:29
uh it's going to be really really in there
17:36
so even though it's blue Loctite it'll be hard to you're going to have to use
17:42
some effort to get it I'm done okay so now we've got
17:50
our swivel hopefully don't eat my words and
17:56
tell you guys to put this through and then I have to undo it I think it'll fit through
18:05
here actually I might have to undo
18:27
those
18:37
man it's so close okay I got to take him out loc TI's not dry
18:57
yet
19:55
let give me a chance to put more piece of extra tape on
20:14
there all right so lift this up then get this through
20:20
here so you don't mess up like I just
20:27
did
20:33
yeah make sure that is through or you will have to take it all
20:38
apart and do it all over again so we don't need more Loctite
20:45
these are lock tied very
20:57
well
21:02
yeah as as long as you get it before it dries it's easy they're easy to undo so if you mess up like
21:08
that and the red knob obviously goes to the front because that's where you're going to grab it when you're seated in
21:15
your seated
21:27
position
21:57
for
22:26
okay so now you can see see how your seat
22:31
operates so that's all the way to the back and then when you come to the
22:37
front that locks into place so we want to undo it unlock it so we can access
22:44
these bolts right here so take this drag it to the front
22:50
because this is where uh this is going to bolt into your um into your seat
23:52
now it doesn't matter if your seat is forward or backwards you're just going to want to have some place to start so
23:58
maybe if it's on the ground you want to slide the track forward or backwards
24:03
it's just it's pretty much whatever uh situation you find yourself
24:08
in is how you're going to approach this um but really we're just going to
24:16
uh move this
24:26
around
24:33
and then there's a bar underneath this seat and you want to make sure that your cable comes over that
24:40
bar so it's a bar in the middle and you don't want it pinching your cable down you want the cable to go over it so lift
24:46
it up and put it over that
24:53
cable now you're pretty much just maneuvering this to
24:59
get it to where you need it okay so I'm going to start with this back
25:04
screw I actually might want to move the tracks forward just a little
25:10
bit there we
25:26
go
26:26
for
27:11
so we're going to take the bolt and we're going to put it underneath the
27:16
swivel the washer has some lines on it you want those lines facing up and then you're going to put in your Nylock
27:26
nut
27:42
and whatever you do don't drop
27:56
this I'm actually sliding the seat forward so I can get this front
28:02
one uh I just lock my seat into position and then I'll tighten this one down and then I
28:08
can go to the other one so they're not moving all over the
28:26
place
30:24
so while I'm up here I'm going to go ahead and plug in the under cable before I move to the
30:34
back that way it's just out of my way okay so now I'm going to move this
30:41
forward not all the
30:50
way and then now I can slide it forward to get out of my way so I can put the last bolt in
30:59
and that's pretty much
31:09
it we're not going to do the passenger set yet cuz if you remember we still need to
31:17
drop our gas tank um in order to put in the L track in the back drill the holes
31:24
for those bolts as well as tapping the tank for the
31:32
uh the gasoline uh fuel
31:40
[Music]
31:56
line
33:35
okay now you can check locks into
33:41
place see back it's all good now you'll just have to be mindful of it's spinning
33:48
because obviously when you open it up or start to spin it this is going to hit
33:54
this and scratch it so you just want to be able to pull it
34:00
Forward um and
34:06
then now the only thing about Fords is you'll have to crack the uh driver door
34:11
open in order to swivel the seat um it's just that's just a quirk
34:19
about a Ford transits so this right here it's going to hit the armrest of the
34:25
door um and so now we can actually put in our
34:33
seat belt your seat belt put back into
34:47
place so the seat belt uses a
34:52
t50 uh to reinstall it
36:00
[Music]
36:23
then there's one last piece of plastic that snaps uh going straight down to
36:30
actually enclose the seat belt and the seat belt actually goes underneath
36:35
the uh lever that uh lets you um bend
36:41
the seat back cuz I know you guys can't see it
36:46
from where you're sitting uh then all you want to do to
36:52
spin it is just move the seat Bel over on the side
36:57
or you can undo the seat belt and just bring uh move it on along
37:03
the back of the seat and for your steering wheel you can
37:09
undo it and then if it's extended push it in and up and that's going to help you get it
37:15
out of the way as much as
37:23
possible and so you just kind of have to I'm not doing this in this position
37:30
but just got to play around with it so you can get it where you want to
37:37
so with a fully extended Ford you can that's the best way
37:43
to kind of move it around here and then what I do for you know showing the van
37:49
off or just being inside the van when I get to this point uh I'll get my seat back
37:56
comfortable so may be right there and then I can actually take it
38:02
and I'll go back until it hits the uh the steering wheel and that's my rear
38:09
most position that the seat can be in so so seat swivel seat is
38:17
installed um this is the bracket that we installed uh for the Lagoon table you
38:24
can mount it like this low Pro or you can kind of bring it up higher I think this is where I'm going to eventually
38:29
have it um but yeah and
38:36
then that's pretty much it
38:55
guys
39:03
all right let's get the camera back on over here all right short live stream hope
39:09
you guys enjoyed that pretty straightforward um wanted to show you a couple of the things uh I'm going to be
39:14
