hey everyone welcome back to the live stream we're going to be going over an update of the things that we've been working on the shop and at the end of
0:57
this video today or the stream today we're going to go over installing the Flatline vanco rear rack so this is if
1:05
you guys are interested this is an accessory
1:12
rack so this is kind of what it looks like you can put all kinds of stuff on here um we are going to be putting on
1:21
some uh smittybuilt uh traction
1:28
boards so these traction
1:33
boards are where are going to get mounted to the back and we cool
1:40
uh tie downs here or knobs to hold it down so we'll be doing that later on in
1:46
the Stream but yeah let's catch up and talk to you guys about what has been going on in the shop so I'm going to hop
1:53
on the computer over here and let's go through just the last
1:58
uh couple days or actually the last two to three weeks is what um a couple of
2:04
these videos are coming from so look forward for these videos when they come out uh the first one is going to be this
2:13
one so Thomas had come to the shop and that is our Marine One van and he wanted
2:19
to have a way to air purge the water tank so I came up with this design to uh
2:27
it's just kind of what I thought in my head to make the most sense of uh his scenario because his kitchen Galley is
2:34
really tight closed quarters and if you instead of wanting to drain and winterize by adding
2:42
antifreeze or the RV antifreeze to your van you can do something like this where
2:48
you connect a pressurized air system air compressor uh to this and you can
2:55
actually blow out the whole entire system with air and essentially
3:00
not have to use the RV winterization so the second part right
3:06
here um I know my videos are out of order here we
3:12
go so this one this is the inside of Thomas's kitchen
3:19
Galley and this is with the sink taken out so if you kind of looking down in here and so you see we have our pullout
3:26
drawer on the left we have our relocated Ford AC right here in the middle then we
3:33
have the air purge that I installed and it's a retrofit so if you guys wanted to retrofit something in your van which
3:39
wasn't designed initially this is this will work uh then he's got his gray water
3:45
tank but I'll fast forward here and let's see if I can show you so
3:52
if you look right here all I've done is I've taken the output of the water pump and
4:00
bypassed it so it comes into the system and then it'll go
4:07
around into this uh thing I know this is hard to follow but let me zoom out here
4:15
this is in a video so you guys will actually in the uh future I'll have this
4:21
done but let's go back to the other picture so what actually happens is the
4:27
water comes in here and comes down this through this valve
4:34
and this valve stays open when you're using the water system and this just comes right back through here and that
4:39
would be the normal flow when you want to winterize it you will shut this valve
4:44
off connect an air compressor to this line and it needs to be regulated that's
4:49
really important you don't really need to do anything above maybe 5 or 10 psi I just did it about five PSI it was
4:57
it was enough um anything else it's going to blow water all over the place so uh but what
5:03
you can do is this uh this is all brass fittings here and then we got PEX a of
5:09
course but this is going to allow water not to come out so you don't have to worry about it leaking when this valve
5:14
is open but again this is just my interpretation of how to put one of these things together I didn't watch
5:20
anything or copy from anybody I just kind of made this up um and really it
5:26
was because the space was so tight I really couldn't do a formal system and really this actually
5:32
turned out to be excellent it went right right in it's all basic parts that you can get from Lowe's or Home Depot so
5:39
this is what the setup look this is what the uh system looks like water comes in
5:46
the shut off valve is important because you do not want to pressurize the system towards the pump and especially a
5:53
diaphragm pump at that because it could damage it and then you know the water comes
6:00
down and then goes out here and you can kind of see this yellow stuff so I use
6:05
something called Rector seal number uh let's see here yeah Rector seal number five and
6:13
it's a it's a food gr uh food grade uh NSF
6:20
rated um sealant and it's a soft set and what's nice
6:27
is you just put it on there and you know it sets over time you don't have the
6:33
Teflon tape stuff going on plus it's you know it's a I think it's a better ceiling just in my
6:41
opinion uh so we did that and then the next thing that we did was hook it up to
6:48
the air
6:55
compressor and so I had a air compressor here and then I had a regulator if you guys can see
7:02
that and let's see here so there's the regulator and you guys will see this whole step but I just I kind of show you
7:08
how I'm uh purging the system so you want to
7:14
have all the valves open when you start this process and you can see the Air's coming out and by changing from hot to cold
7:22
this is how you clean out or Purge a hot water tank which is usually challenging
7:27
sometimes people actually have to remove the hot water tank um and I think this is a good
7:33
solution and uh yeah looks like we got some more people in the chat if you guys have any
7:38
questions on anything that I'm going over uh this is just an update live stream to tell you all the stuff that's
7:44
been going on in the shop but if you have any specific questions on any of this hop in the chat ask me the question
7:49
I'll be happy to pause and answer it for you but I think this is going to be a really great video when it comes out
7:55
because it's going to show you how uh I put everything together how it flows and then how we actually did the the air
8:02
purge to get everything cleaned out of the van so look out for
8:07
that the next thing uh we checked up the list uh for Thomas was we redid some
8:17
plans for the inhabit floor mats so they needed to be
8:23
redone uh so we did them and I'll tell you what
8:30
guys I know these mats are expensive but the craftsmanship attention to detail
8:37
and this is not sponsored in any way but just give you a heads up the template that I designed I was wondering how
8:44
close they were going to get to my specifications and it blew me out of out of the water all these little
8:49
intricacies that went around my the 8020 that I planned the little flap going underneath the fridge uh they nailed it
8:57
I mean you guys can see here this thing is going going in perfect and it really changes the
9:05
feeling of the van the van just feels really fresh it really brighten the van up um there's nothing wrong with the
9:13
floor that we put in for Thomas but uh we just he wanted to protect the floor
9:18
even more and then have an easier way of cleaning it out uh when he's being on gear and all that kind of stuff in and out of the van
9:25
so uh he got this made and yeah it's awesome the front part there too uh look
9:33
at this so this corner over here just every side um now what I did is I
9:42
installed these buttons so I did these uh this button
9:47
install and that's just to really keep it held down um even if you get the mats
9:54
done an installer is going to have to be the one to install these buttons cuz they need to be a appropriate place to
10:00
hold everything down so just a heads up on that then I did these on the
10:15
side and you guys can see it just uh yeah even this corner I mean look at
10:21
this corner just they did a great job cutting
10:27
this out now they do CNC these mats I guess after they do the paper template um I was on the phone with them
10:34
for a while when we I did this originally so uh it was more about how they wanted the template design from me
10:42
but going further uh we talked about this spot for
10:47
example we had existing L track that we didn't want the floor mats to cover and
10:53
yet we were able to say Hey you know Nick why don't you just you map the mat
10:59
out and then instead of us cutting the hole out when you get it you go ahead and just Notch it out cuz it's a woven
11:06
vinyl it's not really going to fray and then I put the two snaps right here just to keep everything nice and uh held down
11:15
uh but that's the back of the van and you can see just really
11:21
incredible looks
11:27
excellent but I will have that video coming out uh
11:35
it's it's a harder F video to make because I actually go through and I have
11:41
footage from when I'm uh redoing the template uh what I'm saying redoing
11:47
is this template had to be corrected from a previous installer so uh it was
11:55
brought to me to correct and um I just want to let you guys know heads
12:01
up make sure that if you go to any installer you have a good conversation and kind of start to finish of where
12:07
things are going to start and then where things are going to end um it's good not good not to have this kind of gray area
12:14
so uh when this came to my shop I took care of everything and we uh made sure that
12:23
this install uh was well because if this had been made by the
12:29
previous installer then uh it would not looked good in his van so I'm glad that
12:35
we were able to pick up where they left off correct the template itself and then
12:43
you know really give Thomas a better fit in his
12:50
van all right where where was I going here yeah so that's what we did on
12:55
Thomas's van the air purge the mats the water system let's hop on over to the
13:02
next build next customer build we have currently in the shop and the first thing that we were doing
13:12
was uh installing the the heater so we're we are installing the uh
13:20
Webasto STC 2000 underneath the passenger
13:27
seat and this is interesting so I have not installed a hitter under the passenger
13:33
seat I kind of like to install it in the back however um there's no room right
13:38
now as far as where I want to do the power system and water system uh I don't want the heater back there so this is
13:44
going to be the a perfect place for it and to be honest nine times out of 10 this is where everybody puts it anyway
13:50
so this is more of a normal location to to install
13:55
this so coming through and uh you know getting the plate laid out
14:02
there's only about 6 Ines of room to actually access all the pipes coming in
14:08
uh believe it or not there's all kinds of different framing members underneath there there's the uh foot box for where
14:13
you get into the van um there's a bunch of uh riveted material
14:21
and yeah it's actually a tight it looks like it's it would be not a tight space but it's a very tight space
14:29
so you just have to be really specific where that hole is cut out
14:34
um after you lay everything out the best way that I the easiest way
14:42
that I think to do it is to cut out this side and then cut out this side over here with a hole saw and then go
14:49
ahead and take a jigsaw and cut out the middle
14:57
tab
15:04
and then just to make a note when you're doing this that how you're going to bolt this
15:11
underneath there so we're actually wiing the holes up to make sure that um if
15:16
there's any misalignment you don't have to worry about it kind of binding and not going through the holes so I make
15:22
them just slightly
15:27
wider
15:33
and I didn't end up using the foam what I did is I did a uh Permatex sealant so this is
15:40
Permatex they make a high temp uh it's called Ultra copper and it's good to
15:46
like 700° which uh the the heater is not going to get that hot but I do that to
15:55
seal uh this metal plate to the bottom of the van to make sure everything everything sealed uh not just from the weather but any you know exhaust gases
16:02
type of thing that might come through and then I went through and did
16:07
the standard you know rust preventative um sealed everything up and then the last step was to install this
16:15
so this is a directional vent that goes in the back of the uh passenger seat the
16:21
passenger seat is ated has a slight angle to it um well actually it's about
16:26
45° angle it's pretty steep so you need something to correct that so that it's not you know blowing directly
16:33
to the floor once you install this and so there's one spot here and what I did
16:39
is I took a I think it's a 2 and 1 half inch hole saw and I cut this
16:45
out and then I went through and orientated it so I could actually have
16:50
three places to install this so you have to have these uh recess kind of like pan
16:58
head um screws so that when you snap this plastic in it can still rotate if you
17:05
guys have ever installed a heater so after I repainted it and cleaned all the uh cleaned it up this is
17:12
what the final product looks like so super professional nice and
17:18
clean I wanted to screw it in but I actually ended up having to bolted in because for some reason uh they don't
17:25
make I couldn't find the pan head screw I could order it offline but you know if
17:31
I can buy it at lows it's uh much quicker to keep going yeah so that got installed and
17:38
then the next thing that is uh on the list to finish today I I was
17:44
waiting on a part um the company that I'm working
17:51
with uh not sponsor but the company that I found to let's see here
18:00
uh okay let me the addd going on here this is what I wanted to show you I had two tabs open
18:08
for the uh 2000 the St STC 2000 from Webasto it's a 60 mm heat heater duct
18:16
pipe so be make sure it's the 60 mm uh I think there's like a bigger 80 mm or
18:22
something like that and it looks you know the photo I mean 75 75 is the one and sometimes people uh
18:31
mistake the 75 for what they need and so
18:36
what you need for the 2000 is a 60 mm so
18:41
make sure you get that you need this so that we can kind of snake the pipe through underneath the seat because when
18:48
the heater goes in there's not enough room to actually uh you know vent it out where
18:55
it goes directly you need to kind of do an S shape and we'll talk about that later um but
19:01
this is the rotatable vent so you can see here um it's also 60 mm and it allows you to if
19:09
you can imagine this being rotated 180 um it blows up but if you have it on
19:15
it installed in an angle it'll now blow straight out so that's why we uh
19:21
purchased this nozzle okay now back to what we were talking about so our customer for the next van
19:29
we wanted to have uh you know Apple carplay capabilities um really just to
19:36
have a big screen that fills up the dash looks nice um everything was great about
19:42
the van itself as far as all-wheel drive um you know High roof 148 however the
19:49
stereo that came Factory in this uh model that I
19:55
had was not what we wanted
20:01
so let me show you what I'm talking about okay so this is what was installed
20:10
from the factory uh the reason I'm waiting on a part today to finish this this is kind
20:16
of what's scheduled this afternoon to be finished um as soon as that part comes in is believe it or not this is a sync 3
20:24
system and I would you would never been able to convince this was a sync 3 uh
20:31
but you know I looked on the Windows sticker and it said sync 3 so the kit
20:36
that I ordered uh you have to order a special adapter for sync 3 and when I
20:43
looked at this and the specs there's no way this can be sync 3 Because all this does is when you turn it on there's AM
20:49
FM and when you put it in reverse there's a camera there's no fancy settings or anything like that so um
20:56
yeah I was shocked when I looked at to the specs and it actually said it was a sync 3 system um and I'm guessing that has to
21:03
do with uh just the way Ford does it to where they build all the internals of
21:09
the van for the fancy stuff and then if you get the lower stuff they just don't plug it in I'm guessing that's how that
21:17
goes anyway so this is another uh another video that'll be coming out soon
21:23
and this is me we're removing uh this
21:28
whole entire unit out of the
21:33
van and if you guys see right here in the middle of the screen this
21:40
plug these two plugs control the air conditioning in the van that's that's
21:45
what they do they control the air conditioning the hot and cold um Believe It or Not Ford hid the
21:54
rear backup camera feed into the air conditioning
22:01
module so I don't I don't know if this is because they ran out of wires or they triy to repurpose something or W wasn't
22:08
expecting anybody to you know do some aftermarket uh products for this car but
22:15
so uh it took us a while on the phone with customer service to figure out what where that cable was
22:23
so um if you order the system and I'm know I'm going from the end and kind of
22:29
coming back but while I had the video up this sensor actually controls air
22:36
conditioning but there's a cable in here that actually is the feed for the rear view
22:41
camera uh blows my mind anyway so I went ahead
22:47
and uh took the whole entire dash out uh this company Let's uh hop over I
22:55
think you guys get the point of this so look let's go to the
23:03
website okay so this company is called Dinan and I didn't find a I couldn't
23:11
find any other product like this there's a lot of stuff that's you know
23:16
retrofitted so this is what I had and the ending video let's see
23:23
here so this is
23:29
get rid of this
23:34
advertisement so this panel right here believe it or not this panel you're looking at that's surrounding the screen
23:40
comes with the kit so what you do is you will uh where did my video
23:51
go so you'll actually take this whole entire unit out and you will remove Mo
23:59
the vents the air conditioning you know power climate control uh you'll remove
24:05
those they all pop out and then after you've popped those out you will pop
24:10
them into this new face plate and this new face plate will house the two Vents
24:16
and the AC controls which have the video
24:22
the backup camera video signal wire so wild anyway
24:28
so if you want to have this type of look so if you want to go from
24:34
this where is it if you want to go from this or even the forge sync and you want
24:40
to have something with more options so not only does this uh connect to
24:47
iPhones um but this also has Android
24:52
auto it has a different function for iPhones so there's a button that
24:58
connects um I I'll do a video obviously of how to actually operate this but it's
25:06
really nice it is a high-end product I thought it was you know just a normal aftermarket but it's a very high-end
25:12
product um especially with how you have to install everything and so right here you go to
25:20
you'll find it overseas like in Europe but you need to go to the Dinan North America
25:26
site uh that's how you're going to purchase
25:32
it and then when you go to the site you'll click on it's the Dynam 8 for
25:38
2019 and up okay so this is the unit now let me
25:44
back up one tab do you see this this is access backup camera retention harness
25:50
for Transit um with Ford Sync so this was
25:55
what we didn't know about because you know typically a Ford Sync is going to be a big screen you're going to have
26:01
multiple functionality within the screen and this van did not have it so um
26:08
apparently it does have it so this is what is uh being delivered today it is
26:14
this uh retention harness and the reason it's so weird is this cable bypasses the
26:22
air conditioning Communication cable so this plugged into the air air
26:27
conditioning cable and then you can see this little video wire comes out of it
26:34
it's I've installed a lot of stereo systems and this is the wildest thing I've ever seen
26:41
anyway um so that is uh the dynamin system super cool uh there's actually
26:48
two additional USB ports in the back to where you can put um you know like I
26:55
know this is going to sound dated but you can do like MP3 player or uh like
27:02
another device um uh like a USB drive maybe some music
27:08
on it uh it's just two USB ports and then there's an additional since this one is going to be byass through the AC
27:14
line with that connector technically there's a additional video input that is a
27:20
separate Channel but if you guys have any specific questions on that just put them
27:26
in questions in this video and then I can when we go do the video to go over it we can show you um all the
27:33
details all right so that is one thing and then finally before we talk about
27:39
the uh our go the Flatline vanco install today at Rack we will follow up
27:51
with the window cutout so we started installing the
27:58
rear uh awning style windows in the back of the van so I went through and uh you know
28:06
taped everything up got everything ready to go as far as
28:17
install um I was talking to you guys about uh blades so what you want to use
28:23
is it's called Bosch metal very thin so that's the jigsaw blade that you're going to want to use to cut out the
28:29
sheet metal of a Ford Transit van um you don't want anything coarse
28:35
because uh it can get real Jagged and possibly hang up so it might take longer
28:41
to use the metal very thin blade but the cut is way cleaner you have to do less
28:47
sanding to prep and put the window in and it's just all in all uh you know
28:53
better experience in my opinion so we cut uh one hole in the
28:59
middle and then that's what I used to begin my cut and then I use tape so you
29:04
see how I kind of put tape on top of the van so as I go I grab it and it keeps
29:10
everything from uh flapping all over the place and then right before you end
29:16
you'll have all this tape and then you can just pull it out with one hand and everything is super clean and this one
29:24
there was no modification this was a perfect cut the first time time so I didn't need to notch anything
29:30
out sometimes on these windows there is a there is a uh spot
29:36
weld right over above this tape that's on the frame of the CR uh the a1033
29:42
window and that spot weld will have you Notch the sheet metal out it kind of sucks um you have to notch the sheet
29:49
metal out to pop the window in and it just makes you feel like you didn't get
29:55
the hole right but you're okay okay also there's two plastic tabs on the bottom
30:01
one under here in this tape and then one under on the right side of this tape and this plastic tabs actually sit on the
30:06
metal frame and then pretty much hold the window in uh
30:11
so if you're trying to put the window in it's not working even though you think you measured three times and cut
30:18
once check for the spot weld up here and then the two plastic pieces they may have moved or unsnapped um so just a
30:26
heads up uh okay so I actually talk about it
30:36
here okay this is what I'm talking about so this is our cut
30:42
line ignore the permanent marker up here this is for the foam surround but see
30:48
how they spot weld this or weld the frame together and I've got about I don't know
30:55
maybe a millimeter or two of Gap so if I was any tighter that would be give me
31:01
Pro problems with popping the window in so it's okay to you know cut like a
31:07
little you know half moon out of that just don't go too far because see we already can see the start of the foam uh
31:14
gasket and that's all you have sealing out you know the rain um so just heads
31:21
up on that
31:29
and then another dis pointer if you guys are watching is the radius on these Corners really practice uh cutting out
31:37
your template correctly because if you do the radius too much uh you're not there's not going to if this radius is
31:44
too aggressive then there's not going to be enough foam to seal the
31:49
window well so you're going to make want to make sure that you get that uh sealed
31:56
properly
32:10
let's see so that was let's see was that
32:15
it okay so that's it uh what I did after this is I took the window back out I
32:21
sanded everything down and I you know spray painted to do rest preventative on
32:26
this whole entire thing really getting it up underneath here where I where I grinded any surfaces that I grinded you
32:33
know clean it with denaturate alcohol and then I masked it all off and you
32:38
know I just spray painted it with two coats of
32:43
kryon uh Fusion is that is that right yeah this stuff right here kryon
32:52
Fusion uh I use the matte black but guys this stuff right here
32:58
this stuff is is the best this has satin black I just grabbed
33:03
it really quick but it's an all-in-one you know it's paint primer maximum rust
33:08
protection fast drying any surface it's really cool stuff um just
33:14
to talk more about it you can spray it so you spray it on and then you wait one
33:19
minute and then you can lightly recode again so it it makes my uh helps me
33:25
speed up a lot of stuff that I in the shop because I'm always R preventing it's just something I I really want to
33:36
do no TC I haven't uh I haven't dived into kind of that
33:44
secondary alternator or supplemental charging circuit to where battery gets
33:50
low then it cranks up um My Philosophy at the current current
33:57
moment it may change but I want to do very simple systems I don't want to get
34:02
too complicated with the um the electrical because uh you know possible
34:08
failure of those systems in the future so just doing a lot of solar on top um
34:14
you know good correct wiring as far as uh coming out of the van uh now you see
34:21
you were talking about when the house batter is low um if you want to protect s from the
34:29
uh see are you talking about the house battery as far as like what all your components running off of like your
34:34
inverter and everything or you talking about the engine battery I'm guessing you're talking about the the battery
34:40
that the whole van's running off of like your refrigerator and stuff like
34:46
that um to be honest if the batter is getting that low and you're relying on
34:52
the engine to charge it uh you're probably looking in into a secondary
34:57
alternator situation uh because the maximum output from a Ford without taken
35:05
too much from the alternator is anywhere from like you know 80 to 100 amps safely
35:11
I know in the uh I think the Ford service manual it talks about like 150 amps but I
35:17
wouldn't go that far I would only use up to 100 amps from a the factory
35:25
alternator so if you have say a 400 amp hour system and your batteries are dead
35:31
you know running the van uh it's going to take four hours to recharge your whole system so what I
35:39
like to do with my customers is say hey you know if we're going to do lower on
35:44
the battery side let's maximize solar uh but honestly it has to do with
35:50
how are you going to use the power if you're going to come home after a trip and plug it into the house to top off a massive power system but you don't have
35:57
a lot of solar and that's kind of how you operate that might be one way or if you find yourself on the road a lot you
36:04
may can go with a smaller sized battery system um because you're on the road
36:11
more so you're direct alternator charging all the time so say like you're going to camp but then you hop on the
36:19
highway to do four to six hours of road driving you're always going to be topped off before you get to the next location
36:24
so it's just kind of a give and take with what you want to do
36:29
but uh yeah that's a good
36:37
question um I've not tried an air Nibbler now I've watched a lot of videos
36:42
about air nibblers and it it looks very
36:48
aggressive it does not uh I can't see I cannot see myself like I haven't used it
36:53
but I could see myself doing nice neat cutouts with it the air Nibbler um I've
36:59
also seen people use like shears uh by far even though I haven't used that the
37:06
jigsaw is just so easy to control it's
37:12
uh super clean cut as long as you have those uh the very fine metal cutting
37:18
blades and uh the jigo I use just show you which
37:25
one uh this this is what you would if this DeWalt XR battery powered there's
37:33
no battery on it right now but this one is perfect so see how they have this big surface down here so this allows you to
37:40
not uh lean so you get this super nice precise cut plus it's got this flap
37:47
right here so changing blades is like this quick so see this is used as a
37:52
t-shank just goes in and that's it and it also has a speed setting so you can
38:00
go one all the way up to seven and you have ultimate control with this and
38:06
control is what you want you know just go slow and smooth because the less the more precise
38:11
you are the less sanding you have to do uh these windows will go in you know really really
38:17
nice um because when you cut out windows on a van it's it's one of the more stressful
38:25
things uh because you can't go back you once that
38:31
sheet metal is gone I mean you've cut through the skin of the van there's no
38:37
redos um so I just take my time make sure everything's nice and precise and
38:44
for me an air Nibbler just sounds too aggressive for uh for that plus air
38:50
tools in general um you know maybe for like maintenance
38:56
work like taking tires off engine work air tools are good for that type of
39:02
stuff but um I thought about investing in air tools for this shop and
39:07
everything I do that's electric like my drills it's just uh it's just
39:13
better it's better it's quieter so that's what I go
39:18
with um let's hop on over and you guys can ask all the questions you want um
39:24
but I'm going to move on to the next part of the video
39:29
so we're going to go over installing this so this is not sponsored um this is
39:37
just one another component uh so I'm going to install this while I'm waiting
39:42
for that dynaman part to uh get shot dropped off at the door
39:48
um and this is the transit rear door
39:53
platform so if you guys want to have like a road pack or you want to have a
39:59
place to do your Mount bikes on the outside of your van this is a this is a great
40:06
option and if you guys have known the the van that I'm you know behind me this is the one that we took to Adventure van
40:13
Expo uh this van is pretty much showcasing you know shop capabilities so
40:19
we kind of went all out we have the rear tire carrier from Flatline vanco we've got the rear rack we've got the bed
40:25
system window trim kits uh the kitchen gal the roof rack um all that
40:36
stuff but this one we're going to go and um yeah put together
40:43
today now I'm getting smarter with these live streams and I know you guys don't
40:49
want to have a two or three hour live stream well I guess it depends on what we're talking about but I've already
40:55
pre-drilled and I've already rust prevented all the holes so basically
41:01
we're just putting bolts and stuff together so this should be a pretty quick install um and I'm going to go over a
41:09
couple things uh with the door install some stuff that kind of uh didn't really trip me up but I can see if you guys
41:16
were installing it that um might give you a little bit of a headache and if I
41:21
can give you some help on some tips on what would make it a little bit more enjoyable um uh I think it'll definitely
41:27
help you out so first thing let's go on their website and all you got to do is scroll
41:34
down to where it says view the installation guide and each one of these products has a
41:40
PDF it's going to give you a list of tools and all the stuff that comes with the
41:46
kit and then you're going to have um the parts uh your drill templates which are
41:54
really important uh the bolt and then you're actually going to go through this list so we're just going to
42:01
quickly uh go through this um so you'll basically take off the
42:06
hinges um pretty simple if you have two people this makes it's just that much
42:11
easier because uh you're going to either have to use some way to rig the door and hold
42:18
it so that you can get the bracket on um so I did have help with this one as far
42:23
as installing this plate uh once the plates on we're going to come
42:29
inside the van take off this cover pop off the trim we're going to go
42:36
through we're going to Mark our locations for where our holes are going to be drilled there's only two that need to be drilled one on this inside pocket
42:43
of the door and then one on the outside right here then there's just two bolts
42:48
on top two bolts on the bottom a stabilizing bracket down here at the bottom and then uh inside you you have
42:56
this uh support bracket that slides up inside the door and that finalizes the
43:03
uh the whole install so I'm going to leave this instructions open I've already gone read
43:10
through this a bunch of times so yeah let's just uh we'll kick this off real quick so this is on the
43:16
passenger side we did do the driver side over here um there's a live stream that
43:22
I do on this driver's side um the video footage I I wish was better that's why I
43:29
set this up to be a nice filming today but uh it's it'll work you know it's not
43:35
up to my standards but uh the video was a little fuzzy when I filmed this but it still goes through the process of what
43:41
you know what I did to install everything on the driver's side so on the passenger side once you peel this
43:48
cover back what you're going to want to do is take this take a piece of uh plastic or whatever the bolts in it and
43:55
just going to want to stuff it in here to just grab any of the F metal filings that come out uh you just you know don't
44:02
want them to get in the back of the door uh it's
44:07
not going to ruin anything it's just it's raw steel it's going to rust instantly as soon as you know moisture
44:14
gets to it so what I did is I took uh this piece of
44:21
cardboard and if you just lightly put it on here then this uh gooey stuff's not going to
44:27
stick and then I just put a little pieces of
44:34
tape okay so this was my way to catch all the metal
44:40
filings and then I went through with a paint brush and that kryon Fusion paint
44:46
and I just took a a little artist brush and then this and I go through and I
44:52
just uh make sure everything is nice and rust preventative rust prevented
44:57
allow that to dry uh the first thing that you're going to do once you get this before you do
45:04
that hole me actually go in order here so the first part of this is to grab these templates so the first piece
45:10
you're going to have the reason you got to peel this back is you're going to have two openings here and an opening
45:16
here and that's going to be what you line this uh stencil or template up to
45:23
just get a couple pieces of tape uh make sure it's lined up nice and good
45:29
here just like that and when you have the bottom
45:35
finished put your hand here with some pressure and then just roll this
45:40
over and do that okay so see how this comes out
45:45
you're going to make sure that this is pushed in when you locate this hole or won't won't be accurate so this is the
45:52
first hole so there's just one hole in the back so let's just say that we
45:58
already drilled our hole which we did so we're finished with this template we'll take it
46:06
off now where that hole was what you can do is you can use something like this if you guys never seen this before it's a
46:12
punch down tool and what this does is it's spring loaded
46:18
and so you can find something to do it on so like this piece of metal so see
46:24
how this has nothing nothing on it right now it's right in the middle I'm GNA take
46:30
this and I'm just going to push push down without stabbing
46:37
myself and you see I had that pop so that pop creates this
46:44
little a little dot right there so that little dot is going to be a guide to
46:51
your drill bit so once you have that little Dot
47:00
your drill bit can it can start in that hole accurately and it won't walk all over the
47:05
place so I took a drill bit and I used a 532 to kind of do a pilot
47:11
hole and then this next thing I did was I went to the back door backside of the
47:22
door and so the back side of the door is going to have your where you need to drill your other
47:29
hole so this is your template and the body line of the van and then the bottom
47:34
of this uh the transition where the window is this is going to line up just like
47:42
that so right here you've got the piece of paper is on the body line of the door now
47:51
depending on which one you have this curb for the handle don't go by this curb for the handle go by this side and
47:57
the top side um you
48:05
know what I would do this is what I do I take that uh let me go grab
48:14
it so I don't like to make mistakes and even though technically if
48:21
you follow directions you can trust the template uh I don't trust the
48:27
template because uh I just I know better you know there's something I could have
48:32
misread or whatever so I always try to find another way to verify that that the hole is right there so take I took this
48:41
and I just temporarily uh put this in place and then I went and looked in the
48:48
back and wanted to make sure that my hole was right where that template hole was and when I confirm that
48:56
then I go back and drill the hole out
49:02
so you know read the instructions but you know you don't want to go back
49:10
and blame the instructions because do a little bit due diligence and say okay
49:15
does where this lays out does it make sense because this was kind of like a
49:21
red flag to me that this was not exactly perfect to the Contour the hand so I wanted to make sure
49:28
that you know the template wasn't messed up or something anyway I put it on used the punch down
49:35
tool made my hole
49:41
okay and now this hole is been drilled rust
49:47
preventative it's all good to go so the next step is we are going to
49:53
take uh this bracket so we got this bracket right
49:59
here and I need to go grab something real
50:16
quick talking too much I'm grab some water
50:24
here
50:30
all
50:37
right so if you
50:44
have the holes drilled out the final uh drill size that you're going to need to
50:51
cut the hole out is uh 2764 that's what it looks like um it's
50:57
kind of an odd size drill bit so I recommend you guys buy one of
51:03
these if you don't know what this is this helps you
51:09
identify drills drill sizes because my drawer I have tons of
51:16
drill bits but they're not technically organized so I just bring this over there find the drill but I want and get
51:24
back to work okay there's going to be a bunch of Hardware that comes in a
51:30
bag we're going to install this here in just a second and then what I do so this
51:36
is not in the instructions but what I do is Imagine This is the part that t
51:44
mounts to the outside of the van I'll take some RTV or some type of Permatex
51:50
and I'll actually put a little bit around here and then I'll put it on the door just to give me an extra piece of
51:56
mind on ceiling to make sure there's no water getting anywhere uh but yeah let's keep moving
52:03
on uh now remember if you guys have any questions van related you know put those in the
52:12
chat all right so now what I'm going to do is I'm going to
52:18
take this and this is a little weird of how it kind of goes in so you have to kind
52:26
of go up and then rotate so that's how this gets in
52:34
[Music]
52:43
here and it doesn't feel like it's going to fit but trust me just rotate it a little bit and it will
52:50
fit all right and it'll kind of hold itself in there the next thing you want to do is you're going to take this uh
52:56
Allen head with a very
53:03
odd uh 732 wrench now I got provided with this
53:09
wrench I'm not I'm guessing it everybody gets this wrench
53:15
um but yeah [Music] so so we are doing this part right
53:24
here so I'm going to look at at it to make sure so we're using this uh this
53:32
one okay I want to make sure I'm not I'm using the right
53:37
thing where is it door
53:45
backer oversized flat washer the oversized flat washer
53:53
okay so there's two washers in the system and we want to use
53:59
the one that's as you guys can see the big the the bigger
54:05
one so it says use the
54:14
oversized we're going to put that put that in the
54:24
door
54:31
I'm going take the nut and washer and make sure I don't lose this in the
54:38
door that would be
54:52
terrible okay next
54:57
we're going to take a 9/16 size wrench and to
55:04
ratchet just going
55:18
to
55:24
wrench and we're going to lightly install
55:31
this because we need [Music]
55:44
to and don't let the wrench slip because you're going to Dent the back door of the
55:49
van I haven't done that but I'm just saying I can feel myself do doing
55:58
that it's one thing I've learned from building Vans is you always have to think two steps ahead you know if I cut
56:05
out this window or if I put this bracket in this location you know am I going to
56:10
be able to access it later uh is it going to be impossible
56:16
that sort of thing okay maybe just a little bit
56:23
tighter
57:02
okay so I just kept it it's tight but it's you know I can still move it so
57:08
next is the hard part because now I got to lift up this
57:14
hole pretty I've got an idea of how I'm going to do this by
57:23
myself
58:06
I think I moov this bracket I think I'm going to have to bolt it to the outside first and then
58:15
tighten this up cuz I test fit the bracket and everything lined up as soon as I tighten
58:21
this top one it pulled it out of alignment which was
58:28
[Music]
58:36
interesting
58:47
huh a there he goes there it goes
58:53
okay okay so somehow I have to keep it like
59:15
that so I'm going to go ahead and open up this
59:23
Permatex so I'm ready to
59:43
go think I'm going to tape the bolts to the outside those that'll be my second hand
59:50
while I'm doing this
1:00:03
but if you guys are still watching now is a good time to ask questions if you got
1:00:12
them so actually let's see if we can close this door without the bracket going
1:00:22
nuts n we're going to have to keep the door up so we're going to keep the door open and then we're going to lock it into place
1:00:28
so we can push against it um I think that's the
1:00:48
plan so my thought process is I'm going to hang the bolts or hang the bracket on
1:00:53
the bolts and then kind of hand tighten the bolts
1:01:01
on let's see how well this
1:01:08
works we got more stuff we still got the we got to mount the uh traction boards and all the other good stuff
1:01:15
so we still got some more of this to
1:01:23
do okay so we got our our bolts
1:01:34
here this thing is not light just just to give you guys a heads up this is
1:01:42
not light and I would recommend that you do this
1:01:48
with two
1:01:53
people
1:02:08
all right I got a bolt on the bottom I got to do is just get this top
1:02:23
one
1:02:49
okay that worked out
1:02:56
okay so now I can swing the door back open this is the part that I thought was weird here
1:03:02
so I've got the bracket lined up with a
1:03:18
hole okay so the Brack the whole thing has to come up about about eigh of an
1:03:24
inch so the next step is we're going to take this bolt with the sealed
1:03:30
washer or the washer that seals it and before we do that we need to open
1:03:38
this up and uh we need to get our our sealant around
1:03:46
here again that's the sealant is not part of the install
1:03:52
um uh it's just just what I do
1:03:59
because if I were you and I drill a hole in a van I don't care if it's the heater
1:04:06
this you know rubber is not with the exception of the awning
1:04:11
windows I've had really good luck with them just having zero problem but something like
1:04:17
this um yeah I just feel better if
1:04:23
I put a nice big piece uh sealed up like
1:04:29
that all right now's the tricky part we got to check our
1:04:37
bracket and then going have
1:04:44
to somehow lift this
1:04:53
up
1:05:09
and the instructions they said to use a slim
1:05:15
ratchet so I think this is what they meant
1:05:20
by Slim I had it going the right
1:05:26
way so 9/16th ratchet on this one as
1:05:36
well now I'm not threading this into a nut I'm just threading this
1:05:41
into if you can imagine there's real thick rubber on the inside as well as a
1:05:46
pad to secure it to the van and so what I'm doing is I'm just getting the threads
1:05:53
into that interior
1:06:00
rubber okay so let's see if I can leave that there and get my bolt and wash bolt and
1:06:10
nut and once again without dropping
1:06:23
it
1:06:30
see this is what happened last time if I had an improvement to make I would have
1:06:37
these bolts just be just you know just a quarter of an inch longer or maybe an
1:06:43
eighth of an inch longer
1:06:50
cuz with the washer in the nut it's kind of I can it's I can see how it' be
1:06:56
difficult for some people to actually put this
1:07:01
on to have enough threads to work with can you guys see that there you
1:07:22
go
1:07:31
okay all right so now that this is lined up uh before I get this one too
1:07:38
tight let's try to tighten this bracket
1:07:46
up just just that we're kind of like evenly moving this bracket into
1:07:52
place
1:08:15
okay so that one's not all the way tight but I'm going to tighten the back bolt first CU this is the one that you know
1:08:26
it's not that much adjust adjustment
1:08:52
on
1:09:02
okay before I get ahead of myself that so that one's pretty snug it's not all the way down uh before
1:09:09
we do that let's get the rest of these bolts in it's possible I might have to Smo it
1:09:16
well no actually going in really
1:09:22
easy
1:09:45
yeah see that's what I was kind of talking about is uh how this thing Moves In and
1:09:52
Out now just like on the last one I have this angled all the way out as much as I
1:10:22
can
1:11:22
that's
1:11:30
looking for that 9/16 that I put down before I started the
1:11:39
stream where did that
1:11:52
go oh
1:11:57
well switch to an extension it'll be all
1:12:03
right yeah so for this one I'm just pulling the rack all the way
1:12:22
out
1:13:03
[Music]
1:13:12
so this heads up if you had a gear wrench it'd be perfect for this situation I don't actually don't have
1:13:18
those if you guys can believe it
1:13:25
I think I have like four gear wrenches but they're not I don't have a whole
1:13:52
set
1:14:11
so I don't want the uh the bolts on the outside I want them on the inside
1:14:17
however when you're tightening it down you want to tighten on the side
1:14:23
that has the washer so you don't scratch the powder coat off these aren't going to corrode I mean
1:14:29
it's aluminum so they're not going to rust as what I meant
1:14:35
but if you tighten them up from the outside you can scratch off that powder
1:14:42
coat and it's up to you if you want to do that when you're tightening it up so
1:14:49
what I'm doing is I'm just doing it to get started using the wrench to get started start it on the
1:15:07
inside and as soon as it gets tight I'm coming back in and just using the wrench
1:15:16
to to tighten it
1:15:22
down
1:15:29
all right finish up the top do the middle then do the inside and we'll be done with this we can move on to putting
1:15:35
our uh traction boards on here which I think will be really
1:15:44
cool then that'll be the end of the uh live stream so if you guys have any
1:15:49
questions put those in the chat and I'll be happy to answer them while while we're waiting on me to tighten this
1:16:22
up
1:16:56
okay that done let's go on the inside tighten these two down there is a
1:17:04
like a stabilization plate or extra support I'll put that on very
1:17:13
last if you guys are
1:17:18
wondering yeah four transits have this lock feature so you can actually lock the door open so it doesn't
1:17:30
move and when you install something like this you're going to want to use that feature because if you don't the rack's
1:17:39
going to hit your van or it's going to hit your sliding door or your tire carrier is going to hit your van or
1:17:45
sliding door because once you install these aftermarket products then your
1:17:51
bumpers that Ford gave you to protect the van uh no longer protect the
1:17:58
van like if the door accidentally swings open too wide that's what I'm talking
1:18:21
about
1:18:42
okay so this looks good let's just temporarily put this up
1:18:49
here I say that so I can just slam the door shut so again when you first have this you're
1:18:56
going to want to easily close the door cuz you got a lot of weight on it
1:19:02
now same thing with this unlock
1:19:08
it okay it feels really good let's just do a nice easy
1:19:14
close do a little bit harder
1:19:21
okay
1:19:35
wow man that is on the
1:19:41
van as it should be obviously okay now we got the rack on here let's move this
1:19:48
camera to a different location so you guys can see see more of the
1:20:01
rack okay that's what we have
1:20:08
installed thing is that thing is on the van
1:20:14
now I went on Amazon and I found these
1:20:21
uh see if I can where did they
1:20:36
go I found this kit it's called recovery track mounting
1:20:42
pins very basic nice and simple um a lot of stuff on Amazon I
1:20:48
mean uh in the off-road world is not as simple
1:20:56
so so they these bolts that look like this they have a nut that you can tie
1:21:02
down to put these on um and in my opinion it's just a bolt with a clamp on
1:21:08
the end but a lot of the ones that I saw were they're really overpriced so I
1:21:13
found ones that were reasonable and I'm hoping
1:21:21
actually
1:21:41
okay all right it's going to look like I'm going to need some Fender washers
1:21:48
here so this kit comes with these two brackets right here here and they are
1:21:54
not wide enough for our tracks that we have so we've got these smittybuilt
1:21:59
tracks that I got in an off-road store and see our bracket's just not wide
1:22:04
enough so we're not going to use that obviously so I've got a bag of zinc
1:22:12
plated washers um this is just painted steel
1:22:20
so a little bit I think these uh washers should should do pretty
1:22:42
good all right so what we're going to do is we're going to let's find some
1:22:49
holes on here
1:22:55
okay that looks perfect yeah we're just going to find an
1:23:01
even spot to mount these up and then going to mount them
1:23:21
up
1:23:35
there we go I knew I had some of
1:23:41
those that's what I'm talking about check out those got some nice stainless steel
1:23:48
Fender washers this would be perfect this will be
1:23:58
perfect all right so the way to think about these is they're essentially just studs they're just studs with a
1:24:06
collar and what we want to do is we want to adjust this back pin so that we have
1:24:16
enough uh actually I'm going to do this before I start talking about all this
1:24:24
I'll probably correct what I'm saying all right let's see what so how
1:24:31
what we can where we can fit
1:24:38
it if you're watching this and you don't know what traction boards are that's okay they're pretty much a
1:24:47
board that you put on the ground to gain traction so say this is your
1:24:53
Tire this will go on the ground and then your tire can grip into this whether in
1:24:59
your mud sand um snow it's just to help you get out of a
1:25:06
bad situation so let's put this
1:25:11
[Music] here it looks like these these sliding these slots up here
1:25:19
this is where we're going to be okay right there so these
1:25:25
two this
1:25:33
Row give me some tape so I can visually see
1:25:43
this let's come down right there okay so this
1:25:51
row so in between that one and that
1:25:57
one okay so we're have we have to put there's this sliding adjustable
1:26:02
area that's where we're going to
1:26:09
start and to be honest this uh these holes in this racker it's so
1:26:16
perfect I don't actually think I'm going use the fender washer I think uh
1:26:23
we're actually just going to use what we what came in the
1:26:30
kit um I'm actually going to come back later in the video I mean not in this
1:26:36
video but I will come back
1:26:41
later or I might do it now you're definitely going to have to put locate on this there's no
1:26:49
question about that
1:27:06
[Laughter]
1:27:13
so just enough to where we can move that back and forth I took the sleeve off I'm not
1:27:20
going to use the sleeve Right In This Moment
1:27:36
[Music]
1:28:07
all right let's check our
1:28:21
alignment
1:28:33
so our goal is to have it in between these two pieces of
1:28:50
tape okay so those are
1:28:56
perfect so the ones on the
1:29:02
[Music]
1:29:20
bottom
1:29:29
yeah this still work they're just plastic um if this was any bit of
1:29:34
substantial weight I would go and get some different Hardware
1:29:39
but this stuff is not it's just two plastic boards they they don't weigh that
1:29:50
much
1:30:06
[Music]
1:30:36
all right so this side doesn't have a place to go
1:30:50
h how can we fix
1:31:20
that yeah that's the problem about univ
1:31:26
Universal fit I could I could drill another
1:31:36
hole I could do
1:31:50
that so I'm not going to do that for right now I'm just going to put it right
1:32:20
here
1:33:21
[Music] obviously we won't keep the studs this long I'm just doing this to
1:33:30
uh see how this thing's going to
1:33:50
fit
1:34:06
that's pretty much it it's uh it's really that
1:34:20
simple
1:34:36
I'm actually going to look online for some uh ideas about these
1:34:46
knobs if you guys have any ideas on how to improve these knobs um you're going to have to have some type of a locking
1:34:52
knob this knob is not
1:34:57
uh cuz really the knob is to turn on this uh stud this little sleeve here but
1:35:04
the sleeve in my case is not it's not long enough um that's
1:35:10
pretty much it that is uh traction boards on the back of an adventure van we're still able to open the
1:35:17
door close it we got our spare tire carrier
1:35:23
so yeah we can check uh the back of this van off the list the other only other
1:35:29
time you're going to see this van is uh we need to put in the organizers in the
1:35:34
back and then Plum it and but that that's the that's it
1:35:40
so all right if you guys have made it this far that is awesome because I want
1:35:46
to talk to you guys about the DIY van build cheat sheet so if you guys don't
1:35:51
don't know what the DIY van build cheat sheet is it is essentially an Excel sheet of the last three years of all of
1:35:57
my Amazon purchases and uh they're all organized there's only two there's over 250
1:36:03
curated items on that list and the best part is it's completely free so all you got to do is sign up to get it put your
1:36:10
name and email address and it'll it right to your inbox uh just to give an
1:36:16
inside look at it you've got all the stuff from you know cargo storage electrical
1:36:22
Fasteners Hardware onboard air security solar tools uh and tools is one of the
1:36:28
best things about this list so you'll look at the list you go over here and kind of hover on the Amazon
1:36:35
link and uh let me change the zoom here there we go so hover hover on Amazon and
1:36:43
you can actually see um the product for some reason it's not working right now
1:36:49
anyway um but this is the list you got the Amazon link and it's all the stuff
1:36:54
that I use in the shop uh the water pumps are there so stuff that you'll be seeing me you know put in the van you
1:37:00
just hop over here and uh there it is hold on a
1:37:05
second okay it was working a second ago there we go so see you can see the pump
1:37:11
you can see the fittings you can see the sink you can
1:37:17
see strainer the DIY vamp cheat sheet it's always growing more stuff that we find
1:37:25
more stuff that we build or build in the shop and use this for so check it out
1:37:30
DIY van build cheat sheet completely free put your name and address email address in there and you'll get it sent
1:37:36
right to your inbox and I think it'll really help you out with your van builds all right we also need to talk
1:37:43
about Odyssey custom vans so that is my van building business the business that is building the van behind me and the
1:37:49
other build that we got in the shop shop so if you guys are interested in the van behind me it is currently for sale there
1:37:57
is a description and photos on the internet uh on on the website that is
1:38:04
and if you want to click on the adventure van Expo video that we did in Chattanooga Tennessee this is going to
1:38:09
walk you through a tour of the van to show you what's in the van you know again like I mentioned uh
1:38:16
the back of the van where the water system is we're saving that for a special video video to go over Plumbing
1:38:22
of a van um but that's really the only thing we have to do today you guys saw we put
1:38:28
the rack on the back we've got the Flatline van Coast rear tire carrier so
1:38:36
um it's a deck Adventure van it's a all-wheel drive Ford Transit with the
1:38:41
EcoBoost that's the turbocharged V6 it's on a 350 chassis so it's the
1:38:46
heavy duty chassis again all-wheel drive bef Good Wrench K2 Tires alterrain Tires
1:38:53
um we have a 600 amp hour Li lithium iron phosphate system with a 3,000 watt uh pure sine wave
1:39:00
inverter it does have 30 amp Shore power and uh 420 watts of rooftop solar so
1:39:07
definitely can handle all of your power needs uh we have heat and AC in this van
1:39:12
we have a dedic RTX 2012 volt rooftop unit which is extremely efficient uh and
1:39:19
then we have a really nice air toop Evo 40 and uh what's cool about the Evo
1:39:26
series is it is Altitude Auto adjusting for altitude so if you're going up to
1:39:31
super high high mountains um like in the Rockies for example uh that'll
1:39:37
definitely help you out it's connected to the auxiliary fuel Port of the Ford Transit so there's no auxiliary tank
1:39:43
that you have to mess with comes right out of your gas tank and it is a gasoline
1:39:48
heater um then the kitchen you know we got the R stainless steel sink everybody loves that we have the isotherm Cruise
1:39:54
130 huge 12vt free refrigerator and freezer uh you're going to get four
1:40:01
gallons of hot water 40 gallons of fresh water seven gallons of gray for the sink
1:40:06
and then a separate which is really important a separate gray tank just for the hidden shower pan in the floor and
1:40:13
that's could to be a hidden Tetra van shower um we are throwing in a porta
1:40:20
poty 365 from fford uh we got the you know exterior shower on the back as well um and all
1:40:27
these products uh not sponsored but most of the uh installments in the van are
1:40:32
from Flatline van Co like we were talking about if you guys want a quick overview and some build photos uh just
1:40:39
go online uh you can check out the build we've got all crl windows they're the
1:40:45
tent style both on the passenger and the driver side um we've got the rear aw
1:40:51
1033 awning style windows in the back which as you guys know if you watch this channel those are my
1:40:57
favorite um we decided to powder coat the factory wheels
1:41:02
because they look excellent so we powder coated the factory wheels um making sure you get the correct offset on these Vans
1:41:09
is uh a challenge so staying with factory wheels and
1:41:15
powder coating them kind is the best of both worlds and it does have uh
1:41:21
255 70 16 uh BFG tires on it and those are
1:41:27
the biggest tires that you can put on a stock uh height Ford Transit it does
1:41:35
lift the van up a little bit uh just because the outer diameter of the tires so you do have some really good ground
1:41:41
clearance and again it's an all-wheel drive van we uh put the Ford Transit
1:41:47
Trail Grill from Europe This is a Europe European model Grill and it does SNAP right into this Ford Transit um but it's
1:41:55
awesome that Raptor Style Grill looks super cool there's those
1:42:02
Wheels flatlight vanco roof rack with side ladder Shore power rigid
1:42:12
seral we got our sink isotherm fridge um excellent storage so we've got the
1:42:18
flatlight vanco upper cabinets that I really like and the bamboo theme is really what
1:42:25
I wanted to go with on this van and it just looks amazing the fit and finish of installing
1:42:31
this dedic RTX uh 200 AC really proud of that how clean and recessed I was able
1:42:37
to do it in the top of the van again going with Simplicity simple
1:42:45
components to use you've got the Renegy one system so that's our new system
1:42:51
where you can communicate with the individual batteries their cell voltages
1:42:58
the 3000 watt pure sine wave inverter charger so that allows it to have the
1:43:03
shore power uh capabilities um you can monitor everything from this one panel and these
1:43:10
three uh pieces of these These are actually switches so they're the interior lights the indirect lighting
1:43:17
for the interior and the exterior Amber uh scene light or kind of like you want
1:43:24
to call like a patio light uh we have our max van which is 7500k we've got the Renegy uh inverter
1:43:32
switch which I always like to have independent so it's just easy and quick to turn the inverter off and on and then
1:43:38
we've got the wo um Bluetooth controller for the
1:43:43
Webasto heater so you can control it from when you're in the bed you don't have to get up you can warm the van up
1:43:49
before you get out of bed in the morning really really nice um some other features we have uh
1:43:56
independently switched uh dual pole breakers for the solar panels which is
1:44:02
really important not a lot of people do this um but it's just very important because a solar panel is always on so if
1:44:09
you don't have a breaker to independently shut one off uh depending on how you have it wired then it's
1:44:17
always going to be live so this just helps for
1:44:22
maintenance um as well as full disconnect and then uh these are thermostatically controlled ex uh
1:44:29
exhaust fans for the battery system so in this photo the cover is not on but we
1:44:35
do have the uh the cover finished now um I'm actually going to show that to you
1:44:41
since you guys are here so I'm not sure I prepped everything to clean it up
1:44:48
for our install so let me try to meting some stuff up here but uh yeah
1:44:55
let's just take a look at this side since this side is all finished over
1:45:00
here so on the inside of the van I know you can't see it but we have
1:45:05
our breaker we're going to turn this power system
1:45:10
on we've got our intake for the uh power
1:45:16
system to for the inverter and then this is that switch but now if you guys look
1:45:21
in here we have finished the interior so we got a really cool led spanning the
1:45:29
top of the power system and that's just going to give it a really nice glow when
1:45:34
you're in here to look at all your point components um it's really just more of a showoff feature however the acrylic
1:45:42
allows you to also look at your Renegy DC todc Chargers and look at how they're
1:45:48
doing so they will give you information depending on what lights are certain colors right here is your adjustable
1:45:55
thermostat for the interior so if you want to keep your batteries and inverted
1:46:00
this area at a certain temperature so it doesn't get too hot I've preset it to start cooling the system down when it
1:46:06
gets above 80° um but you can set it to whatever you like higher or
1:46:12
lower uh yeah and then we got this pullout tray down here so this is not
1:46:18
in what you guys saw on the
1:46:24
computer uh yeah but a little bit wider view of the interior of the van it does have a fredman flip and fold
1:46:32
seat which is awesome uh that's going to allow you to take extra passengers with
1:46:37
you but it's up and out of the way when nobody's in the van so you got a lot of
1:46:43
space to move around so there's the top of our van with a 420 watts of solar so
1:46:48
we got two 20 watt panel over here here and then two 100 reneges um with a Max
1:46:53
fan in the
1:47:00
middle H I got a lagoon table Mount as you come into the
1:47:05
door there's that scene light outside I like the amber it's just much softer you can keep it on you know enjoy outside a
1:47:12
whole lot better in the evening um and then when it's time to relax you've got
1:47:18
a nice fi manual f45s awning so you don't have to
1:47:24
worry about motor messing up or anything it's just simple manual in andout awning
1:47:30
it's very quick to deploy uh the German Shepherd is not included but this is the
1:47:38
van so if you guys are interested in purchasing this van you can contact me at sales Odyssey
1:47:45
customs.com there's my number or the best way to get in touch with me is to
1:47:50
schedule a call so you can click on the scheduler find a day like tomorrow for
1:47:55
example you know wide open you can schedule time to chat with me about the van if you're not interested in this van
1:48:02
but you're interested in doing a personal custom build over here on the left is how to get started on that so
1:48:08
just a couple little tips it's the same process but I'll just let you know about you know what Vans we have in this shop
1:48:15
uh for purchase you know options of bringing on your own van building schedule and Design design and then next
1:48:21
steps How We Do pricing and uh yeah we can hop on a call
1:48:27
and I'd be excited to uh talk to you about your future van build
1:48:33
plans but yeah that is going to do it for today guys thank you so much for checking out the live stream I hope you
1:48:39
enjoyed all the updates to the shop the doors that we are working on tonight so
1:48:45
um yeah we're going to have more content uh I'm going to go now and go pick up
1:48:50
that uh plug that I need for the dinin system so I can check that off my list for today and we're going to move on to
1:48:56
the next thing so we've already got one of the windows in that we showed you uh we're cutting out the other window in
1:49:03
the van um and then from there we're going to start working on the window
1:49:08
pills uh kind of planning that for everything being cut out and while that's going
1:49:14
on uh what I'm probably going to do is go ahead and map out the floor so start
1:49:19
cut out the templet for the floor and yeah we're going to get get Trucking on
1:49:25
the uh the build so um look forward for more videos more content if you guys have any questions put those in the uh
1:49:31
comment section below happy to answer them in a future video make sure you guys are subscribed to the channel if you're not already like this video If
1:49:38
you enjoyed it share this video with anybody that is working on their DIY build and maybe need some help we have a lot of other videos on the channel to
1:49:45
help anyone out with anything that is DIY van build related and until then I
1:49:51
will see you guys in the next live
1:49:57
[Music] stream
